What's On Your Mind Today?

This is where you can share what's on your mind. Recipes, ideas, workouts, anything that you think might be helpful to others.
Maybe, you've tried something that has worked for you in the past and would like to share it with the group. Maybe, you have a NSV (Non Scale Victory) that you would like to share with the group. Anything that you feel comfortable sharing or anything that you feel comfortable asking the group for help....this is the place to come.
The GOOD!! What NSV did you have this week!!
The BAD!! So what....you ate the whole thing!!
The UGLY!! That darn scale went through the window this week....it deserved it too!!
So, what's on your mind today??

Just wanted to share a new goal that has developed over the last few days: my partner and I are planning a summer hiking trip, which will be on quite challenging terrain and with backpacks ... 🏞⛰🤗 so all the more motivation to keep at this and be as light as reasonably possible by July. Feels a little daunting, but I'm excited as well and wanted to share...
Who else has some sporty goals over Easter or the summer?12 -
I would love to be able to do a mountain bike ride of more then 5 miles one way and since we traded our cross trek and now have a 4wd truck kayaking should be soooo much easier I plan on plenty of that. I got rid of my outback wagon so will now use hubby’s truck lol9

Starting 3 week of Keto. This might work...6

I want to build up my endurance and distance on my bicycle. I'd eventually like to be able to ride it into town and back...
I'm thinking of getting an ebike. In fact, I'm off tomorrow and might go into town to look at one!8 -
@Mrs_Hoffer I love my e-bike!! It makes the hills so much easier, the whole experience is such fun. Mine is bright red, which adds to the fun - people stop and notice and comment on it. Mine is a folding model which I can get in the car. (It is heavy though).7

Here's a pic9 -
It’s a weight goal but trying it hit 165 by Mother’s Day. It’s like 6 lbs. Also want to get better on my bike5

Tried Kefir for the first time today. I didn’t know what to expect taste wise but I like it. It has a plain yogurt taste in a creamy milk form.5

Today I took that dreaded “before” photo. For some background, when I was expecting my son in 2018, I made the mistake of “eating for two”. I gave myself a free pass to eat whatever I fancied because I was pregnant. Big mistake! In February 2019 I weighed 184 lbs (I’m 5ft 5) and I felt so disgusted with myself. I wore baggy hoodies and t-shirts in an attempt to hide myself. I joined MFP back then and it was very successful as I lost around 40 lbs if I remember rightly. I wore dresses and shorts for the first time since childhood and I felt great.
Over the past few years, I stupidly got into the mindset of “you’ve lost all this weight, a bit of chocolate or a takeaway won’t hurt - you deserve it!” and it just snowballed from there. So I’ve learned my lesson the hard way!
I know that calorie counting and some exercise does work, so I’m back at it again. I hope that by the time summer comes around, I’ll feel confident enough again to wear a dress or a pair of shorts , instead of hiding my body away in oversized clothing!

My plan for April is to lose 4 - 6 pounds - I get weighed on Tuesdays.
I will be doing this by (1) having 3 meals all measured and recorded (2) no snacks (3) no sugar or flour as they are addictive and make cravings strong
So far today am on plan9 -
@jmu1965
Kefir is probably great for your recovery (I am assuming you received some pretty heavy duty anti-biotics for your sepsis) because it is a great source of probiotics. I hear it is quite easy to make your own, although I haven´t tried it due to sensitivity to milk. I would encourage you to think about consuming it often.
Many of the researchers on the gut microbiome talk on YouTube about their preference to get their probiotics from fermented foods. Behind the spoiler is a video I thought was really good on gut health where the researcher talks about how to build and repair the gut.3 -
@lesdarts180 Nice bike!! I'm excited, but trying to hold off and do a little more research before I make a purchase like that. Thanks for sharing the photo of yours tho!1

Summer activity goal would be to get comfortable outdoors on my new gravel bike
For April, I am travelling the first week and it's the first time I've been away from my home and scale for this long since I started. So just trying to manage how I live this lifestyle in these exception based times, and when I get home I want to keep working on weight loss and hopefully lose another 4-5 pounds this month.7 -
Love this question @lodilas and reading the responses of others - so thank you! 🌷
My goal for April is to raise the number of kilometres I walk each day. I have been tracking daily data for exercise minutes, active minutes, steps, and kilometres in a spreadsheet for a few months. The wild card seems to be kilometres. 🤷🏼♀️ One of my longer term goals is to be able to walk a half marathon. Kilometres walked is the measure I will focus on for April. I’ll learn more as I push myself and that will help me determine how I could accomplish the longer term goal.4 -
@jamcnewman Love that goal! Something I'd enjoy doing myself. Good plan for April Julie!4

Thanks @ashleycarole86 💐
It was a gorgeous day for a longer walk yesterday and the sun’s warmth will soon melt that lake ice and create a different seasonal experience for the Canada Geese 😂😂😂
It was a great day for a longer walk, and I switched to a waist leash with Beauregard to see if I can gain some more walking stability, speed, and distance on the walks when I have him with me. I used it for about half of the 9 km walk and clearly our speed and distance tired him out!

I just looked at my flight home to my parents. At first I was worried about 8 hours in the air and getting my steps in, then I saw that I I will be changing planes a few time, Leaving Edmonton, stopping in Toronto, then going to Montreal and finally leaving for Moncton. It's going to be a long night/morning.7

Good Morning ALL
I am caught up .. logging in my days. I can’t believe 4 days and I am feeling better already. More in control of my food choices!9 -
UAC friends that have MFP Premium - what vitamins can you track with the premium version? I'm specifically looking to track magnesium and Omega3s. Have you found it's really worth the upgrade?1
-
OK I must be daft & I know there have been many posts on the new version of MFP
But I’m actually feeling I might have to give up.
I’ve given it months & it’s still cumbersome & I can’t make sense of the organization (if there is one)
1. Specifically when I logged on before I would same steak days & a graph. Is that still around? If so, how do I get to it on a phone?
2. I sometimes used MFP to get a calorie count for an item. I can’t even see how to access the area for entering foods….
I feel like an idiot which I’m not. They really took a wrong turn with this non-intuitive re-write.
Thanks so much for any assistance!

Hi Maddie - you are by no means an idiot and I agree — they have taken a wrong turn.
Are you on an apple or an android phone? I am on an iPhone and see the icon “Progress” at the foot of my “landing page” when I open the app. This is where I can see my streaks and the graph.2 -
Thank you @jamcnewman !!
That worked! I guess I was trying to access it from other starting points! Haha

Does anyone have the subscription version of MFP? I have been using the free version and then decided to try the 1 month trial. The entire layout is too wide for my phone (a Samsung) and it doesn't keep any of my tracking history from before I subscribed.1
-
@Cowphilosopher I have the paid subscription, I hate the adds on the free version. That said I seldom use my phone to access the site. I mostly use my computer. I only use my phone app to track food and water.1
