I plan to buy a ticket. I don't plan to win. I do plan to dream a little. ;-)

I came really close to winning the last big Powerball. I bought a ticket in New Hampshire, and the winning ticket was from Vermont. That’s close, right?

So I do have a MegaMillions ticket for tonight. I haven’t ruled out winning, but I haven’t spend the money yet, either. Mostly, I consider those two dollars the price of renting a dream for a few days.

I do, however, have a plan for when I win:
    1. Confirm the numbers.
    2. Hire an attorney I trust.
    3. Create a trust that splits the ownership of the ticket - 40% to self/spouse, and 10% each to of six siblings
    4. Have the attorney claim the prize in the name of the trust.
    5. Take the money as payouts rather than cash, since most of us are late 50's or older.

There’s some self-interest to the trust; since everyone gets a share, there’s no reason to come to me for money.

Ha! Thanks for the heads up. I've had my head buried in the sand and haven't paid attention to this.

I'll be buying some tickets later.

My state doesn't allow anonymous trusts to claim lottery prizes, but that's how I would handle if they did.

So, if I win, you'll know.

And if you see that the winner is a 50-something woman who appears to be about 26 pounds away from the top end of her healthy weight range, just think "I'll bet that's Emmie."

Yes, got a couple tickets. Figure if I win I would be able to get a full tank of gas. I don't normally play lottery but got caught up in the hype. Good luck to all GoaDs.

I have never bought a single lottery ticket in my life, and surprisingly I never won a single time! Not planning an breaking that streak!

No, not planning on buying a ticket. I have other ways to throw my money away! Ha ha.

I am adopting this perspective. So, thank you, in advance.
