Let’s get to know each other!
Good morning! I am Nan, I currently live in Kentucky. My job is in affordable housing for the elderly and disabled. I'm an avid disc golfer, costume designer, and reader.
I have been ignoring my body's needs for the last year and because of that, I've gained a ridiculous amount of weight back that I had lost. I'm angry with myself. It's been a crazy few years, my town was rocked by a tornado, my son graduated this spring, and I have had multiple injuries and a hospital stay that all contributed to my weight gain (plus Covid). My wake up call was when my blood work came back with my A1C higher than usual (7.2) and my cholesterol had sky rocketed. While I'm active, I've been skipping the gym. That has to stop. I need those numbers and the scale numbers down. Im uncomfortable in my body right now - not because of appearance- but how I feel from head to toe.
My triggers have been hard for me to recognize and that's something I need to analyze. I would say definitely emotional eating. I need to learn to turn to something else.
My husband is an avid low carb follower and lost 200 pounds that way - so our home tends to be low carb. However, he has lately been off the diet. He also prefers me overweight which does not help my process.
My favorite ways to work out are Disc golf - but it's not enough. Elliptical, Zumba, swimming, hiking, walking
This month I would like to gain consistency. Period. Yes, I need to lose weight. But first I need to bring back my healthy habits to make the weight loss possible: tracking, gym, water. In addition, I would like to lose the team?
I need the accountability, motivation, and friendships from the group. I hope to be an active encourager and receive the same.
Every moment is a choice ... one poor choice is just one moment, move on and make the next choice a good one.
Welcome to the team. Your goal of consistency is very smart. Between vacation and recovering from Covid I wasn’t logging my food. It is something for me is key to weight loss and it’s so easy just to say I will skip logging today. So that is something I need to get back to doing daily.

Hi, everyone! I can’t believe this is the last day of July! This summer has been flying!
1. Tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? What are some of your hobbies? Etc.
My name is Debbie, I’m 54 years old, I’m a mom of 3 adult children and have been married for 31 wonderful years. I am a kindergarten teacher and I’ve been truly enjoying my summer off. In a couple of weeks, I will be ready to get back into the classroom and meet my new little cuties.
2. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start?
I have been riding a roller coaster of weight loss and weight gain for decades. It has been “easier” now that my kids are older and I can consistently focus more on me.
3. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them?
I love my sweets, especially ice cream. Stress and being tired triggers my “need” for the sweets.
Consistent exercise, good routines, planning ahead and getting enough sleep helps me avoid these triggers.
4. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? ie keto, low carb
I count Macros and MFP is a great tool.
5. What is your favourite way to workout?
I am addicted to Orangetheory Fitness (OTF). I love the mixed fitness of cardio and strength. It also has an accountability piece that helps me so much! You have 8 hours to cancel your scheduled class or you are fined a small fee. This is exactly what I need to ensure I get to class instead of skipping. Love it!
6. What are some of your goals this month? Year?
- Weight in the 150’s
- I’m in an OTF challenge to run an accumulated ultra marathon in miles
- Plan healthy meals at the beginning of every week
- Record food in MFP app

7. What do you expect to gain from the team? Doyou have any suggestions?
Just love the accountability. I’m excited to see how the teams challenge each other to lose weight and be as healthy as we can. 💕

1. Tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? What are some of your hobbies? Etc.... Hi my name is Dee, im a wound care specialist nurse from South East England. Im married with 2 daughters 21 and 17.
2. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start? - health issues, high cholesterol and joint pain because of weight, and clothes not fitting well.
4. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them? - im easily led, sometimes let others poor food choices influence mine, or accept food bought for me by others that i didnt ask for, but i have a really good excuse now though to say no to eating rubbish because of the high cholesterol.
5. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? ie keto, low carb..- low cholesterol and calorie counting
5. What is your favourite way to workout? - I like walking with my headphones on listening to upbeat music, i do pilates to help with ongoing back pain (slipped a disc 2 years back)
6. What are some of your goals this month? Year?- to stick to this and keep going! Ive lost almost 14 pounds so far and its only been about 6 weeks
7. What do you expect to gain from the team? Do you have any suggestions? Just nice to have others to talk to who are also battling with weight, its not easy.
8.
8. Share some words of wisdom with your teammates.- Good luck to you all, hang in there, keep logging your food diary every day it really does help you keep track. Weigh your food so its accurate. Do an exersise you enjoy because it will be easier for you to stick to it.3 -
