Well this is an unpleasant surprise and one that is hard to explain. My intake was better than usual (average actual kcals over the 7 days was 1150, i.e., less than the 1200 that MFP recommends. My other stats were okay. Steps were a little off, but primarily because I went to the pool for part of my activity on two days and that is not captured. So I know the important thing is to just look at what I ate, as well as how much I ate, and keep on plugging. Here are my 7-day averages:
Steps = 11,705
Kcals burned = 1,669
Stairs = 12 floors
Sheesh, why am not surprised that you have similar shoulder issue? You and I are alike in so many ways!
Our one big difference is in muscles, and I keep swearing that I am going to work on that. I envy your arms.
In case you didn't notice, we have a new person who interested in joining in. Her name is Katie and she posted in the introduction section. I told her that we'd be delighted to have her join us and that I'd give her some background info on myself when I posted my weight this week. I hope others will do the same. So here goes for Katie.
I started my journey with SNS via the Bodybugg website in February of 2010. I'm 5'2" tall and at that time I weighted 156 pounds. I loved the Bodybugg and the SNS team and its online challenges really got me on the road to being healthier. By 2011, my weight was down to 126 (goal was 122), but over the years, I gradually gained back up to 146. Then during Covid, I buckled down, hit my treadmill, watched my intake, and got down to 128 as of December 2021. Since then I've bounced around between 128 and 132. My current goal is 125.
As to personal info, I have wonderful hubby but no kids and thus no grandkids. I was a Federal government contractor until about a year ago when my contract of eight professional services staff went to a company who decided not to pick up the 4 oldest staff members but rather replace us with young people who make less. Happens all the time. I was lucky to be over retirement age when that happened to me. My area of expertise is public health communications. I am originally from NC; hubby is from PA. But we have lived in Maryland most of our adults lives and consider ourselves Marylanders. We do not live near any family members, but we are fortunate to have a large circle of friends who are like family, and we are very involved in doing various types of volunteer work. My activity of choice is walking, and I'm currently walking about 5 miles each day in a mall that destined to close in a few months, so I'll be having to reassess activity soon. For now, it's a haven from the heat and humidity, and I have to be there in about 30 minutes to meet my walking buddy. So I'll sign off.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

Hmm Sarah. Sometimes there really just isn't an explanation. I noticed weird things with my weight. Sometimes when I eat a snack before bed, I oddly weigh less than if I didn't eat that snack. Or if I drink too much water before bed, then I weigh more in the morning. So odd. I'm sure your numbers will rebound next week.
Thanks for pointing out Katie's post. I would have totally missed that!
Welcome @katiethedetermined1 !Hopefully you're reading and enjoy our group
These few ladies really are fantastic and we have all been online friends for years now. All of us started with the BodyBugg and then some moved to FitBit and now some have moved onto the Apple Watch. While we don't do many competitions anymore, it's more of a place to chat and post our achievements and struggles. I personally enjoy keeping up with what's happening with everyone's lives (good or bad).
So I'm 40 years old, with 2 step children age 12 & 14 and a hubby. I live in Manitoba, Canada and also have an office job where sitting is the main activity lol. I'm honestly not sure what I currently weigh, as I haven't been great with the fitness side of things this summer, but I plan to get back into it. I tend to float between 150-160 (and am probably 160 right now) but I have been as low as 143. I would love to get to 140lbs to start and maybe 130 eventually. I'm 5'4". We hope you enjoy our group!1 -

I'm officially stuck. I've logged well the last week, and gotten movement every day but today. I'm going to try to get more water and see if that gets things moving.
Sarah, your numbers are great! Are you still adding the calorie cushion? I'm sure you'll see a reduction if you keep going.
Kelly, summer is difficult for dieting, especially with kids and all their activities. It's hard to believe, but a lot of kids here are going back to school in 2 weeks. Then, we focus more on ourselves! It's still soooo hot here, so I won't be resuming outdoor walks until the heat eases up. The old dreadmill for me!
Hi KatieI'm a mother of 3, and grandmother of 7, but I'm not going to tell my age, lol! I live in Cottonwood Heights Utah, and only 1 child is still in Utah with 2 of my grandchildren. (One is a step-grandchild whom we adore.) I've got a great hubby, and we've been married a long time. I'm 5'3" I feel like my weight and fitness has been all over the map. I was a bit chubby in high school, lost weight in college and got too thin, got married and gained weight, gained more when I had babies, joined a gym and lost weight, went back to work and gained weight, retired and had heart surgery and gained weight, got a Bodybugg in 2010 to get going because I had my first granddaughter and got serious about being alive and healthy. When I joined this group then I was 156 lbs, but I had been 175 prior to that and struggled down to 156. With the help of Bodybugg, MFP and SNS group, Fitbit, and now Apple Watch I've gotten down to 120 at one point, then back up and now down to 131.8 today. My goal now is to get to 120 - 124. I think the secret is to totally accept that there are no magic answers, diets or pills. Embrace the journey and keep at it!

You all seem like a lovely group to join and be a part of. I need that motivation and extra help. I am the highest I have ever been due to health complications from having children and then emotional stress. I am hoping that in the next 6 months I can get back to focusing on me a little bit more and see that scale move down. I am only 5'0' but super curvy and muscle naturally therefore my doctor said that she does not see me under 126. Oh well, that is better than the 175 I am at. I work in government in HR so I sit all day. It is hard to remember to get up but I work at home so I am trying to make that more of a habit. I look forward to logging in weekly for progress check ins. My bestfriend and I do that on Mondays with each other but we always need more motivation. I will tell her about this group as well
I would love to add you all on Fitbit if you have it. Please let me know your username or email. Thank you.

I'm late in posting. Yesterday was insane. Our VPN access to the office had some issues so all of out in the field remote lost connection most of the day. Normally that could be a Yay but I had a ton to get done so it added to my stress and frustration. Well, I failed to step on the scale yesterday and so today I'm the same as last week at 230. As I say, maintain is better than a gain. I've done nothing to earn a reduction, truly so I am ecstatic with the maintain. I stated last week that I was going to look for a new personal trainer. I've scoped out a few and now I need to reach out and schedule some trials and see which one could be a good fit. Step a1.
Dehumidifier is still running 21 hours a day and filling our bucket about 4 times a day (must wake in the middle of the night to empty or we fear it will overflow). It has to have a straight down drain, and the bucket is sitting on my treadmill pad and I don't want to risk damage. I don't put the tread up, as with the limited space, when it's up, we can't duck and carry the bucket to empty. We tried and put the tread back down. So, for the next couple of weeks, until monsoon passes through and the humidity returns to normal 17%, no treadmill for me. I did put on my oculus yesterday and played a few rounds of Beat Saber. I was updating the program Supernatural, it's a form of Les Mills, or other workout program that I had a pass for, I still haven't been able to log on. I had to download the update before I could proceed. after a few hard games of beat saber, I was done. So at some point today, I hope to get it loaded and give it a go.
Welcome Katie...as the team has said, we've been together for quite a few years. I'm 58, 230 (highest before BB was 238 so I'm still 8 away from my highest). With BB, fitness, a trainer and getting into obstacle course races and trail runs (now retired from both of those), I was down into the 180s and felt very good. My aging MIL had some health issues, she then lived in Cali so my time was spent traveling back and forth for her health. We moved her in a couple of years ago and she recently passed. Sadly, my regaining of weight did tie into taking care of her overall health, travel and focus. I stopped my personal training as I was working so hard to keep up with work and travel. And then COVID hit just as we moved her in with us and I attempted to get back into training. It didn't quite work out and now the weight is excessive again. I am a mom of 2, have two awesome in law kids and three grandkids. I want to be able to continue to be active for all of them and not be the gma that sits around. I have a slew of other health issues, but I need to push those aside and focus on getting my health better so I can be around. I also have a desk job and work from home. So I hope we can encourage you to continue to pursue your life improvement and join us. I went from BB to Fitbit and now on Garmin - so I can't do any Fitbit challenges. Sorry. Welcome!!
OH MY GOODNESS:
Reached out to a trainer. Meeting at 5 today!2 -
Welp. So I went to meet the new trainer and facility. Unfortunately, they wanted too much/long of a commitment before we get to know one another. I wanted 30 days they wanted 9 weeks and over $2k. With the caveat he'll refund me if we're not a good fit after 4 weeks. No thanks. Not going to fight to get my money back. I work too hard for it. I've had experience in the past with trainers who a) don't show b) cancel last minute c) leave and go somewhere else d) aren't a good personality fit e) scheduling conflicts that I have to adjust to but really shouldn't due to work commitments etc. It took me so many trainers to find my last couple and the trainer I had before my last was also INCREDIBLE...but he got the job as a coach for some sports team and that was his dream. So until I know we match, I'm only willing to put 8 sessions on the table. Oh sigh.0

Got in about 30 mins on the Oculus - Beat Saber on Saturday. I was attempting to use a 30 day trial for this app - SuperNatural It's supposed to be pretty awesome as far as being a cardio workout. This is the third time I've attempted, and each time - it has needed an update. Soooo...I played Beat Saber while it updated. I wore myself out and still have yet to try SuperNatural. I'm hoping the trial doesn't begin until I've actually logged in and played it...versus when I downloaded the app. We shall see. And if they're updating that often, it should mean good content. The FB page I joined the gals over 50 anyhow, really like it. I saw several posts that meta/FB was increasing the price by $100 for the device.. EEK. Costco still has it for the same price, but dang, and not new hardware. I know there are more VR headsets out there and coming out, but wow that was a huge jump in pricing.
I have not made any further progress on engaging a trainer. This weekend, the weather was truly messing with my head. Last night I took TWO of my migraine tabs and then added a Tramadol at some point. I haven't been able to sleep and I don't know if it's the migraine that is just at the edge of kicking over or what, but I was DONE. My head is a little woozy this morning...more fuzzy. I can't drive for a few hours due to how I'm feeling. Thankfully I have the other half of my SB cold brew for this morning. But I feel like I may have actually "rested" a bit more than I have the past couple of weeks. Yesterday I was so out of it, sluggish...as if sleep deprived. I did take a nap, but I still felt off. Hubby sent me to bed early. I can't wait for monsoon to be over and my head can settle down. We did have some cool - way way off in the distance lightning. Hubby and I both went outside and I caught some on my camera...not the bolts, just the backlighting of the clouds. I hate the bolts. I came inside once I saw a bolt.
I did a kind of meal prep. I ordered the mahi mahi fish from Costco. Some fruits and veggies as well. I need to pull out the air fryer for the fish (no way I'm using an oven for more than 4 minutes in this weather. It's an orange ponzu topping so I'm unsure how they will do on the grill. I also bought some tilapia loins, those do well on the grill. So I also bought a bunch of lemons and limes to use on the grill as well. It's a small step. As I said, I felt like crap yesterday, so I ordered a sirloin from Chilis for dinner. Sometimes I just need some red meat and asparagus and I'm good.0
