Well rats! Twice this week, I was 130.8 and thought I was making a little progress. But as we always say, just put whatever the scale says on Wednesday morning. And so that's it!
I'm starting the thread and posting early because this is going to be a busy day. I am walking earlier today because I have a doppler exam scheduled for the early afternoon. And for that, I have to be well-hydrated, so I'm drinking extra water and need at least a short recovery time between activity and the test.
The high heat and humidity continues here. It was already 82 degrees yesterday morning when I fetched the newspaper from the driveway and we had a "feels like" temp of 105 by the afternoo. But today, storms are rolling in and we should have a nice break in the heat by the weekend.(Rain coming afternoon through the night.) I'm so hopeful about that projected improvement that I've actually invited friends over for dinner on the patio on Saturday evening. Hubby may finally get to try out his paella equipment!
My intake and activitiy have been pretty ordinary this week: Here are my 7-day averages:
Steps = 13,062
Stairs = 13 floors
Kcals burned = 1,773
My goals for next week are to (1) not overeat Saturday night; (2) increase arm exercises if my shoulder allows and add some stretching; (3) sign up for a bone health class that will be held at one of our community clubhouses; and finally (4) make that darned appointment with the nutritionist that I get for free for letting a clinical trial have the data from a blood test I took 6 months ago!.
I will check back later to see how everyone is doing. Gotta run.

YAY. I had a really good workout Monday . . mostly legs, which I know had to have burned a lot of calories. Finally some progress, but still not back into the 120's, so hopefully next week.
Sarah, I couldn't believe it when I saw 130.8 in your post because that's exactly what my digital scale said this morning, lol!!! Your numbers and goals are so great. What is a doplar exam? The bone health class is a great idea. Please pass some of the info along to me. My recent DEXA bone scan was not that great. The dinner with friends on the patio sounds wonderful . . enjoy.
Lois, sorry you haven't found the right fit with a trainer yet, but you will. And, in the meantime, the virtual reality game sounds so fun, and you get movement without having to go out into the hot weather.
I'm sorry for the quick post, I have a busy Wednesday as usual. . check back tomorrow.0 -
I am so excited to be apart of this group for accountability. I had a good week I thought and the scare was down to 174.2 but then this morning 175.2. Tuesday nights I take a MMA class at the gym and drink a ton of water so I am hoping that tomorrow the scale will be down again.
I am trying to incorporate more exercise since I sit a lot. I am finding that I am either way over doing it or extremely under. I need to find that balance.
Also, I am an emotional eater. Does anyone have tips on that other than do not do it. It is never that easy.
I do not have much else this week. Trying to stay focused is about the goal.0 -
231.2!! UGH. Ordered steak fajitas for dinner last night and they arrived late (took over an hour). This is another 2+ meal plate for me. So that's dinner tonight. That could be why I'm up over 2lbs overnight.
Well the weather isn't helping my my migraines. I've been taking my Zomig and Tramadol at night for my migraines. The pressure is up and I'm feeling it! So last night, I clicked the remote on the portable AC to be just AC. Remote says it's on AC. Get up this morning. Check the water basin (habit by now). HOLY COW, it was completely full...I mean almost dripping out when I took the scooper out. So I scooped a couple of scoops before emptying both basins. Lesson learned, don't rely on the remote...check to be sure the unit accepted the change as the unit showed de-humidifier mode. Anyway, I slept last night, well because Zomig and Tramadol make me sleep.
I had to go into Scottsdale today for a meeting. It was good to see co-workers and met lots of new peeps. I saw the owner in the hall as I was getting ready to leave. I went up to him and said, Hi, I'm Lois nice to meet you...hahaha. I seriously haven't seen anyone in person in MONTHS. Oh and when I pulled into the parking area - someone was in MY spot (not really surprised since I haven't been there in MONTHS). I teased the CFO when I found out it was his car. I have to send a memo next time I'm going to be in the office to keep them out of my spot. Need covered parking in AZ. COO says my new office will be good size AND I'll have my parking space when I go back in. Even if it is only a couple of days a week.
The roofer made it out today and he's adding another o'hagin vent to the roof - hoping by next week. Monsoon is almost over. Customer service guy at work about the inside being so humid. He thought I might be missing a vent as well....and I got the text from the roofer shortly after talking to my guy. I hope it works and soon. Temps are in the 90's and low 100' but the humidity is off the charts horrible. And where I live, the storms don't reach here until the evening, so pressure and humidity never really go away.
Sarah - stay focused. You are doing great. Doppler exam - is that like for the heart or looking for DVT's in legs? I don't know that you've said anything about having a heart situation. recall the term when I had my ACL replaced and they were concerned about a DVT, turned out bone spur growth slicing the new ACL.
Cynthia - WOW!! Great job on your reduction!
Katie - keep posting. and your Wednesday number will reflect the water fluctuation every Wednesday. So good, bad or otherwise, that's one of the main reasons I like to weigh in on the same day every week. We tend to get into routines and you'll see some patterns over the next few weeks.. And for emotional eating. What I TRY to do is when I feel it, guzzle some flavored water! However, I also keep small chocolate treats and again, I TRY to limit it to ONE per day...when I'm super stressed I may have one or two more. But I am fortunate in that my stomach feels super yucky if I have more. MMA - I like to watch it, and I don't mind hitting, but man I don't take the hitting very well. Congrats to you and stay with it!

Katie, like Lois said, keep posting. I hope you'll find motivation and accountability here. Setting small goals, sometimes very small lol, helps me to focus day to day (sometimes minute to minute), and week to week. Time WILL pass, so you may as well take the baby steps every day toward your goals.
Lois, I'm sorry you've had the dreaded migraines return. I've never taken Tramadol, but when hubby used to take it, it really knocked him out. And you're taking other medication along with it. It's a wonder you can function and go to work. Hang in there. The heat and monsoons will let up soon.
It's a trainer day for me today, then heading 40 minutes south for lunch with daughter and granddaughter. She's 9 months old and so, so, so adorable and happy. Can't wait.

Good morning, all and happy Friday. Katie, what finally worked was me was tracking my food here on MFP and just trying to be more aware of what and when I was eating and why (I sometimes eat for entertainment), plus walking as much as I can. Once a pound or two comes off, the feeling of achievement helps me keep going. But no matter what--if you have a day when you are off-track--just keep on going. We all have those days.
Sheesh, you are poised to pass me again. It has been so hard for me to go below 130 and stay there. And the doppler was to measure the blood flow in my legs. I pointed out what looked like a few bruises that don't go away to my doc and she said, "Those are veins, so we need to make sure all is okay with your circulation." Plus, my feet sometimes turn kind of purple after I sit a long time. Well, the good news is that everything is fine. I have "unremarkable" changes that are just "common as we age," but the flow is good. I have just inherited a tendency for spider veins (and fair, thin skin) and the "bruises" are little bunches of veins under the skin.
Yesterday, I had the post put in for my implant. Not the most fun I've ever had, but I'm doing okay. This is such a slow process, though. He said I will be ready for the actual tooth in 3-4 months. Makes me wonder about a friend who went to Costa Rica for a full month of implants in two weeks. I can't even imagine.
Lois, hope the trainer search is going well. I know you'll find a good fit soon. And I also hope the A/C situation is fixed for good soon. And yeah for a nice new office! So many people get pushed into cubicles these days. Thankfully, I never had to deal with that. You've had a rough, few months with family sickness and such, so you are due a smooth patch.
Well, I'm off to walk and shop and do some "cooking ahead" for the weekend. We are really looking forward to hubby's first try at authentic paella (I think!!).0 -
Happy Monday morning ladies. Hoping everyone had a great weekend.
Well, the roofer installed the two vents. Not a huge difference in the house humidity, but it may take some time. Anyhow, the overall humidity should be going down in the next couple of weeks as well so it won't much matter.
I was successful at playing the SuperNatural workout on the oculus TWICE. And on Saturday I played for almost 45 minutes. Sunday I was sooooo sore in shoulders and overall. I think I went too hard. So yesterday was an ice pack day and general vegetation day. I just couldn't get motivated to do anything - at all. I didn't even order groceries.
I did decide that I'm going to attempt the San Diego trip this weekend. So I'll leave Thursday late morning and come home either Saturday (preferred so I can rest on Sunday) or Sunday if I get too caught up in visiting everyone. My niece is getting married Friday night so I'd hang out with the "older cousins" on Thursday and Friday...attend the wedding and then everyone is leaving somewhere on Saturday. So unless I decide to go north and visit our friends, I am hoping to just turn around and come home. My surrogate daughter Audrey may now be able to go with me, so part of her participation in the driving may alter the overall plans as well.
I have an appointment with a new trainer tomorrow evening. Hoping we're a match and I can begin scheduling starting next week.
That's about it for here. Hoping everyone has a fabulous week and I'll check back.0 -
Tough and busy day at the desk yesterday. So I jumped into SuperNatural. I did two of what was supposed to be LOW Flow, meaning full arm swings. Well, I did that for about 40 minutes again. Shoulders and neck are feeling it. So I think I need to just do 15-20 minutes to get back into it. Happy Tuesday everyone

Congrats on getting yourself moving, Lois. When I get in a slump, as we all do, if I can just start doing anything to move my body, I begin feeling better physically and mentally/emotionally, too. Hope the appointment with the trainer goes well tonight. I so need something to get me moving on working on my upper body. Walking can only do so much.
Today, we went to the county fair for the first time in probably 20 years. It's always super crowded in the evening and on the weekends, and until this year, I've always been working during the week. But since hubby can get away provided he's available by cell, we took advantage of Senior Day (free admission to those 62 and older) and we spent a couple of hours strolling around, visiting the sheep, goats, bunnies, horses and pigs, and looking at the vegetables, flowers, and foods that had been submitted for judging. But because it was strolling, I only got 5K steps and since I missed walking with my buddy today, I still need to either hit the TM or go walking outside once the sun goes down. I have the choice today because we're getting a break in the weather.
Turns out that the Bone Builders class was already full, but I may get a call if there's a cancellation. I'm also going to check into some classes offered by the county. I need to start planning for activity once the mall closes. End of an era! I've been struggling with weight this week. Maybe partially due to entertaining, but not totally. For some reason, I have just been hungrier than usual this week. I've hovered around 131 all week and hope it's not a lot worse than that tomorrow on weigh-in day.
Well, need to get a few things done. Hope everyone is having a good week.0
