I wish that I was better at handling stress and emotions in a way that did not involve self-medicating with food.

Past. I would have focused on fitness instead of the number on the scale. Would have saved me that trip to 285 lbs.
Then after I lost control of course I wished I had acted sooner to right my ship.0 -
I wish I had followed a healthier diet, now that I have clogged up coronary arteries. The only thing that has saved my bacon to avoid invasive heart procedures is that I'm a life-long exercisers, which likely has had some protective effect. The last 4 years I've hit the mark for the American Heart Association guidelines, which I hope to do in the future.1

Not put any unnecessary weight back on past or future.0

I wish that a) I could stop more readily after eating a reasonable amount of food, and b) I could say “no more” as easily as I say yes or no. (Having typed that, I’m concluding the two circles in that particular Venn diagram have an awful lot of overlap.)1

Most of the above wishes could be my wishes too!
I'll add a new one: I wish I loved running. I run because I recognize the value in exercise and running is a very efficient and convenient way to burn calories. I can't say I actually "love" doing it. If I loved it, it would be easier to get out of bed in the morning, I would think!0 -
@crewahl Charlie...I wanted to lighten things up here a bit.
As I was reading your post I thought I was getting an understanding of what you were describing in your a) & your b) wishes to only get to the comment about the Venn diagram which completely confused me b/c I did very poorly in geometry or this part of math so I went to my trusted dictionary.com and with this explanation of Venn diagram, So I'm posting the definition here as a noun and also the Venn Diagram.
I am so happy to report that these definitions completely and thoroughly cleared up what I thought I was reading with your post and was what I actually thought I was understanding as it related to weight loss and weight gain through the hypothesis of your description in your statement by including the two circles in respect to their overlap.
Source of research;
noun: Venn Diagram
maths logic a diagram in which mathematical sets or terms of a categorial statement are represented by overlapping circles within a boundary representing the universal set, so that all possible combinations of the relevant properties are represented by the various distinct areas in the diagram
A diagram that uses circles to represent sets, in which the relations between the sets are indicated by the arrangement of the circles. For example, drawing one circle within another indicates that the set represented by the first circle is a subset of the second set. The Venn diagram is named after its inventor, British mathematician John Venn (1834-1923).
(hyopthesis)
a proposition, or set of propositions, set forth as an explanation for the occurrence of some specified group of phenomena, either asserted merely as a provisional conjecture to guide investigation (working hypothesis ) or accepted as highly probable in the light of established facts.

This clears everything up.
@imastar2 Derrick - happy to have contributed to the furtherance of your continuing education. 😉
Yeah, I finished breaking those into A and B, and then concluded they’re pretty much different ways of saying the same thing. I was apparently channeling an intellectual version of Ron White's routine that includes, “Dinner's ready before that particular timer goes off.”1 -
Here’s a wish - I wish the linkage between my efforts and my results was more immediate, more explicit, more direct. Instead, I’m left to wonder and guess about cause and effect like some primitive trying to determine what pattern of the stars means it’s a good time to plant.2
