Well, I'm happy. I still want to see a 2 after that 1, but I'm glad to have a lower number on weigh-in day. I actually saw a much higher number one day this past week--about 3 pounds higher, in fact--but at least the low end of the swing is a bit lower. I hope to get the high end a bit lower, too, as seeing a 3 pound jump can really work on my head.
I'm sorry to have been so quiet this past week. I seem to have crowded too many appointments in this month. On some days I have gone from my class, to walking, to one appointment, and then to another. One of those was for my belly issues, which seem a little better over the past 2 days. My doc thinks that having a colonscopy followed by bouts of antibiotics for this implant may have messed up the bacteria in my lower tummy. So I'm loosely following a FODMAP diet for a short time and I've started back with probiotics and metamucil.
Kelly, congratulations on all that activity. I know it's hard to do with work, kids, cold weather, etc. And Sheesh, I have no doubt that you'll pass me by again soon. Every time I moan about the arm exercises we do in class, I think about how much more you do with your trainer.
Lois, I sure hope that your foot and leg heal well. It must be so frustrating to have different recommendations from the two docs. But it sounds like progress is being made and I'm happy to hear that you have your SIL's visit to help cheer you up.
Katie, hope the new job is working out well. Be sure to weigh-in and let us know how you're doing.
Here are my stats for last week. They are really pretty good. I know they will not be so good next week since I am not able to walk with my buddy 3 days this week. Either I have appointments, or she does, that keep us from being able to meet up. I did the dreadmill last night and just getting 10K that way is tough. In some ways, I'm glad to have a break in routine though. We had an odd occurence on Sunday at the mall where I walk that made me a bit uneasy. I will tell you about it when I get a little more time. For now, I need to run, but here are my 7-day averages:
Steps: 14, 024
Kcals burned: 1,798
Stairs: 13 flights
Goals to come!

Well, I was lower yesterday, but at least I'm not up.
Sarah, wow, congrats! And your stats are impressive and such a motivator for me. And, good job getting your appointments and your class done. Glad you got in with your doc regarding your tummy issues. I think colonoscopies are evil, lol! They seem to read havoc on the body. My daughter was advised to get one because the new guidelines are to start at 45, which she just turned. She opted for pills for the prep, and they caused her to vomit uncontrollably, get a migraine which she had for 2+ days, and then they had her still go in, get put under, only to wake her up to tell her they weren't able to get a good test because the pills she threw up hadn't worked well enough. Well, duh, Now they want her to repeat the whole process in January. My hubby opted for Cologuard, and I'm definitely doing that next time . . So much easier.
My sister had surgery yesterday to repair a big hiatal hernia. I went in to see her, and she looks so weak and frail. She's lost a lot of weight, but of course not in a good way. They sent her home today, and her hubby texted that she's doing fine. Her doctor said a good portion if her stomach and even the top part of her small intestine was in her chest cavity above the diaphragm! Wow, I'm so happy she got this fixed. I'm not sure of all the causes, but obesity is a factor as well as having six children. Ugh. She's lost a lot of weight, but of course not in a good way. Lois, I'm so sorry you're still dealing with healing. And, can't the two doctors consult to come up with a plan for all the issues? Honestly . . doctors
I've had a good week . . workouts on Monday and Tuesday and heading for one now. Now, I must get intake more dialed in, but we're going to Oregon next week so it will be a challenge.

It's moving downward! Thank goodness, cause I really have been busting my butt. Still reaching my 10k steps at minimum a day by going on the treadmill for 30 mins each day, as well as dog walks. Also I have tossed in other video workouts for each day too. Some days it's just stretching but I've also done HIIT and kick boxing and other various cardio. It's really all coming together and making me feel so much better. A couple of days ago, I started dialing in on my carb intake. No or less starches basically. The good carbs from fruits and vegetables I'm good with, but I just realized that if I don't NEED to have bread, then I won't. I do need to add in weights too at some point, but the body weight exercises have been a lot. My body isn't as sore as the first few days, so it's a good sign that I'm building muscle.
Lois - Wow that would be so frustrating! We rely on doctors to get it right and when they don't agree, then what do we do?! Hopefully this is the right course of action for you. Keep moving around that house when you can!
Sarah - Your numbers are fantastic! I was wondering where you were all week when I didn't see many posts, but I see you were super busy with life. Hopefully things slow down a bit for you. What's a FODMAP diet? What are you allowed to eat?
Sheesh - Great to hear your Sister had her surgery. Hoping for a good and speedy recovery. Hard to believe she managed with it like that! Great job with the workouts!
Katie - Hope all is well! Check in soon.

Wow, Kelly. That's a great reduction and congrats on keeping up with the activity. You'll probably pass me by for activity during the next couple of weeks because I am going to have a few days where I can't walk at all. In addition to local travel for Thanksgiving (about an hour's drive) and not having classes the week of Thanksgiving, I also have a little medical procedure on Monday that will keep me from doing much for a few days. Not to worry, it's really minor. And the past two days, my steps have been way down because of appointments and some evening committments. Last night I finally made it to the treadmill with a little over 3K steps at 11:30 p.m. I just edged over 8K when suddenly I was back to zero. But I know we just need to do the best we can and that whatever that is, it's better than just not putting in any effort. Mixing in other activity is good, too. And as far as weights go, in my class we started out with no weights because your muscles still get benefits with just the weight of your body. And we've added weights as we've gone along. I'm still using pretty light weights (4 lbs.) and concentrating on form.
Sheesh, it's good to hear that your sister's surgery went well. I didn't realize that your intestines could move into your chest area like that. I hope her recovery goes well. And I feel so sorry for your daughter. Sounds like a miserable experience. I have already declared that I won't do another colonscopy unless I have some kind of symptoms. Up to now, I've bitten the bullet because my doc doesn't think the Cologard is sufficient. But my blood pressure bottoms out when I'm dehydrated and that's dangerous, too. I'm supposed to have another one in 10 years. One of my primary care docs agreed that I shouldn't do it again; the other says, "let's discuss in 9 years!" And as far as weight, mine is swinging in a 3 pound arc again, and I just lucked out to be at the low end on weigh-in day this week.
Kelly, a FODMAP diet is one where you try to minimize foods that are high in certain types of carbohydrates that have been found to cause gut issues in some people. People with IBS often follow a FODMAP diet. It includes all kinds of foods--fruits, vegetables, meats, etc.--but notes those high in those carbs. It may not help, but it's worth a shot.
So my goals for this week are (1) to do the best I can with the FODMAP diet, (2) accept that my steps will be lower and not over-worry, and (3) adjust intake a bit to compensate for lower activity.
Well, as usual, I have a long to-do list to attend to. Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Wow Kelly! Congratulations! That's a great reduction, especially considering you've been also adding muscle, which offsets loss of fat weight with heavier muscle weight. The more muscle, the better fat burning and bone care. Great job. I think your plan for intake of less starch is spot on. That's the only way I can reduce. We're short, small women so we need all the good nutrients in food while simultaneously reducing calories. The only food we don't need at all is sugar, simple starches, and alcohol. All the fun stuff of course, lol. And, they are calorie dense. It only makes sense to me, and it works.
Sarah, I'm so glad you're finally incorporating some weight training. Good luck with the medical procedure Monday. As far as Cologuard, I was told that if there is no family history of colon cancer, it was a good screening tool. I hope that's true. Hubby and I have each had the regular screening, but his second one was recent and they said Cologuard was fine. Let me know what you've been told.
My main problem seems to be that exercise makes me very hungry! My goal for this week is to figure out how to keep intake under control with that hunger. My body just doesn't want to reduce further, but I DO
