So steady as she goes, but at least I've held steady despite a few bumps in the road as far as activity. Thought I'd start the thread before the day slips away from me and while it's still morning for the rest of you. As we slide toward the holidays it does seem like the days go by faster. And perhaps some of that is having darkness descind on us earlier every day. I always celebrate December 21 when we start gaining a little daylight instead of losing it.

Besides having a medical procedure this week, my walking buddy and are I are not walking together for a while. She is running in to some health-related issues that I've seen coming for a while. She has avoided dealing with them, but hopefully is doing so now. So I'm going to be on the treadmill more often, as walking alone in an all-but-dead mall is pretty boring.

Sheesh, I cannot remember when are traveling, but I suspect you are already on the way or already there. Hope you can still check in. Lois, I hope you leg and foot are doing better and that you are able to enjoy the holiday with your loved ones. Kelly, I think of you on that treadmill or out in the cold walking the pup everytime I hesitate to get on the TM myself and it helps get my butt down there. Katie, hope all is going well with you, too.

I want you all to know that your friendship and support here are among the things I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving season.

Now before I dash off to order flowers (lost another aunt this week), do some household chores, and take care of some financial-related tasks, here are my 7-day averages:

Steps = 11,496
Kcals burned = 1,176
Stairs = 15 floors

And in case I don't get back, have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving my friends. <3:)

  • Hello everyone!!! I have not disappeared just have a lot going on at the moment. I started my new job and absolutely love it. My divorce will be completed in less than a month hopefully. He still keeps trying to get back together but I suppose that is how people that have control issues work. Thanksgiving was at my house and my sister came up form Texas. She is a keeping up with the Jones type of person that "lives her best life". I am a very much down to earth could careless about what others do as long as my children are happy.

    Weight wise, I saw 173.6!!! For thanksgiving the scale only went up 1.5 bs. Nothing bad. I have also signed up at the local CrossFit gym because I am really looking for a gym that is a community and keeps each other accountable. Not to mention I LOVE CrossFit. I am ready to be that happy Katie again.

    I have to go back and read all your posts from the last two weeks to catch up. I will post again :)
  • okay back again.

    Sarah- That is so exciting that you are at 130. Do you have a goal of what you want to be at?

    Sheesh- I am so sorry to hear about your sister. How is she doing now? I hope she recovers well. You are doing great with all your workouts it sounds like.

    Kell- Did you change your name? For some reason I was like who is this again LOL. I have notes on everyone since I am new to the group and may be confusing myself. Your workouts sounds awesome. Have you considered adding weight training to the cardio?

    Last chance- girl, that recovery process for you sounds rough. I am really hoping that you are on the mend soon. The compression sock does not sound ideal but if it makes you better I am all about it for you.

    Let's do this ladies!!! Here is to another fabulous week towards our goals. Even if they are so small that we just need to get through the day.

    Slowly but surely. I'll definitely take it. I haven't been as strict with what I've been eating this past week, as I really want it to be more of a lifestyle and balanced change as opposed to something I'm not going to stick with. I'm still waking up at 4:45am to get on the treadmill for 30 minutes and walking the dog. I have slowed down with the extra workouts and only doing them on the weekends this past week, but I'll get back into it. Still walking the pup too. Our temps have been super nice lately, but I'm dreading it once they get super cold.

    Sarah - good job on the reduction. I'm sure you'd love for it to stay or be in the 120's, but I could only dream of being in the 130's so I think that's amazing.

    Sarah - Hope your travels went smoothly!

    Katie - Nope, I haven't changed my name. Still I'm still Kelly from Canada lol 41 years old, 2 step kids and a dog. That's me lol Yep, I do actually do weights too every once and a while. We have a set of click weights that I use and we have a home gym machine that I'm getting into as well. Really working at doing things slowly, so I don't burn myself out. I tend to do that and then quit everything all together. My first goal was to get 10,000 steps a day and I have definitely done that and more for almost a month now.

    Lois - Thinking of you. Hopefully things are getting better with the docs.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I still find it odd that we have a different Thanksgiving than you guys do, so I often forget about it. Hope you're all finding the Black Friday deals you've been looking for!

    I'm back from Oregon. . we had a wonderful time with our family there, and a beautiful Thanksgiving meal in our daughter's newly remodeled dining room! The 2 granddaughters there are really growing up fast . . the 13 year old is only 1/2 inch shorter than me! They're so cute, but unfortunately are getting into the middle school "drama" of girls that age. Thankfully, their mom is a good listener, knows the friends well, and gives them good guidance with all of it. Wow, I'm so glad that part of life is in the past, lol! My daughter took me to her gym and we did a really fun and difficult cardio dance class, then some walking on the treadmill. Another day we took a 1.5 hour walk/hike through the neighboring outdoor preserve there. Wow, the trees and the air are so nice! Moisture in the air is something that feels so good for me.

    I have no idea what I weigh . . didn't weigh there, and I haven't yet at home. I'm sure I'm up due to intake of a lot of foods normally off the menu for me. Including movie popcorn and candy, lol!

    Sarah, congratulations on the 120's! That's a major goal accomplished. . way to go! Your averages are really, really great, so I'm sure you're going to reach your goals.

    Katie, you sound very much motivated, and that's so great. I'm glad you're getting on with your life, joining a gym and taking care of yourself! I like to get a head start on the "new year" goals in December. The only obstacle is Christmas and that's just one day and the food isn't that tempting for me. Let's do this indeed!

    Kelly, wow, 4:45 a.m. shows how committed you are with your goals! Taking each goal one at a time is smart.

    Lois, we're all thinking of you and sending our healing thoughts and prayers. I hope you're feeling those, and are healing fast.

    I'll be back Wednesday for weigh in. My goals this week are to get back on my program, but be more strict with intake, and increase water.. I'm feeling bloated today. Have a great week.

    Good morning, all. I hope that everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We enjoyed going to our friends' once again. It was wonderful to enjoy a great meal that I only had to cook a small part of while also catching up with folks I don't get to see often enough.

    Sheesh, it sounds like you had a great holiday, too, with lots of activity. I wish I had enough rhythm to do a cardio-dance class! I am so bad it's ridiculous, but I accepted that long ago. And thanks for the atta girl, but honestly, I see 129.8 every now and then but seldom stay there for more than two days. Yesterday I was 130.4; today 131.4. I attribute that to going out to eat with one of my neighbors last night. It's hard to believe how many calories are in restaurant food. I thought I did pretty good, but this restaurant's food is included in tihe MFP database, and goodness--a meal of salad, bread, grilled chicken with some goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes on top was almost a day's worth of calories and let's not talk about the sodium. But I have decided that it's more important to enjoy my life than to worry constantly about a pound or two, and as long as I don't get above 132, I think that eventually, I may settle into the high 120s. It may take some time, but I hope to get there (and stay). Today, I am going out to late lunch with my old walking buddy, and then we're going walking for the first time in more than a year. I think I may have mentioned that I will not be walking with the woman I have been walking with for a while, as she is experiencing some personal issues.

    Kelly, I have always loved only baseball, but I find myself reading about soccor as of late in the sports section. I am sorry the Canadians lost, but the article in the Post had some very positive things to say about the team.

    Katie, new job, joining a gym, and taking control of your life are such positive things. Hope you'll keep us informed about how you're doing.

    And Lois, I hope the treatment you chose is working well. I'm still shaking my head about the two docs. And I'm finding with my recent tummy troubles that so often, medicine is educated guesses. I know it won't be long until you're back on your feet and making me envious as you talk about the nice winter weather in AZ.

    Well, I'm off to hit the old to-do list. I have to do those now, or else I end the day saying, "What was I supposed to do?"
