I had my first Pilates session today. When I was done with the session, I did a walk/jog on the treadmill. My feet and ankles are feeling so much better. Hoping I can keep up with the walk/jogs.
Plan is to do Pilates once a week on Sundays.6 -

I posted today on the other thread about buying beans, cooking up a big Instapot full and making all kinds of meals out of basically a $1 worth of beans. I will stand by my ode to beans!

Question? Has any one tried Apple Cider Vinegar to balance blood sugars? If you have, do you use liquid form? or the gummies?
I read a post in a different forum that said Apple Cider Vinegar 1/2 table spoon mixed with water, just before lunch helps to level out blood sugars and help with the 3pm wall most of us hit when working 8 plus hours a day. Thanx for any info, enjoy your Day Shape Shifters!4 -
@JenHul I use the liquid apple cider vinegar. I simply do a shot of it.
Or I cut up a cucumber and add a splash of apple cider vinegar with some dill and salt. Eat that before lunch or dunner.
I haven't done a cost comparison but I bet the price of the gummies costs more. Also, they are adding a bunch of ingredients to the gummies.3 -
@Cyncia85 I went to the pool today after work and I have a graduation party tomorrow. I’m really focused on getting my steps in daily as it’s my goal. I also was very careful how I ate today at the pool and I’m trying to plan ahead for what I’ll eat at the graduation party. I’m trying to truly look at this as a lifestyle change and think what are healthy ways to eat while in social activities. Food is such a temporary reward, I much more appreciate the reward of my clothes fitting better, and my muscles toning up. I just need to continue to remind myself that.
Positive affirmations are very fulfilling. I’ve beat up myself mentally before, but talking positively and accepting that I can have a set back one day but it doesn’t define me the next day has better results.
Carrie Underwood—I am a champion is a fun-positive song filled with affirmations.
I have "The Champion" on my workout playlist. Love that song.
When you say, "beat up myself mentally," I think of my critical/negative self talk. I've been working on self-compassion. I'm glad you got to the pool. It was a super rainy weekend by me. My gym has a pool - I have yet to visit it this summer. I've got a few weeks to enjoy the outdoor pool before closes for the season. Hope you stuck to your lifestyle values at the graduation party. Eating healthy at social gatherings can be a challenge.2 -

@Itadakimasu7 I agree - beans are great! I'm learning how to cook dry beans. I'm used to canned beans. I've got a bag of black beans in the cabinet I need to conquer.
Homemade refried pinto beans - with some garlic and onion - so yummy!!!!2 -
@Cyncia85 I want to do the "poor man's dinner", as my Mom used to call it...brown (pinto) beans, fried potatoes and skillet cornbread cakes...I'd give my right arm for that again, cooked just right...it's been over 20 years since I've had it. Can still close my eyes, smell and taste it. And I didn't know it had anything to do with being poor...it was just good, country cooking that my Mother made. I learned to make her meatloaf and to fry chicken using her method, but I've switched to baking the chicken using the same spices and like it better. Don't have to stand over the stove either...70 minutes, with one flip and it's done. If you guys haven't discovered Kentucky Kernal seasoned flour, it is THE best and there's a low sodium version too...they sell it at Kroger, Walmart and on Amazon...
So still have to learn to do the beans...
@JenHul Congrats on your loss and thank you for posting your steps...you're all caught up now...

@SavageMrsMoose great job staying under your goal! Glad you’re beating the hear with some indoor exercises. The heat can be so energy zapping!
@looneycatblue nice weight loss! Keep up the hard work! Ever bit helps! You’ve been really consistent.
@Jlswensen Wow! Losing inches is awesome and so rewarding especially when it comes to how clothes fit and feel. Doing measurements is a great way to look at the bigger picture.
I hope your new asthma med works. Trial and error can be so frustrating. Great plans for August!

@Cyncia85 congrats on your 1st Pilate class!
You’ll have to share how Pilates works out for you. I’m thinking of all it’s great benefits like flexibility, core strength, total body strength. Nice weight loss too this week!
@jessicakrall8 you’d laugh at how many times I yell at my scale. I’ve even kicked it back into its hiding spot and call it names 🤣 definitely love-hate. Let’s be honest—hate wins! 🤣

Went back to my daily food journaling and increased my steps. I became engaged again her in this community which I believe really helps me. I need accountability in this journey.
