@DEAN - I have no idea either. Haven't heard a thing from her in a while. I sent a PM to check on her. We'll see if she answers...hopefully she's okay.

Oct. 27: 13 miles walking and hiking
    TTD: 206 miles

My ticker tape is not working again.
This is most likely the last nice week of fall. We actually had temps in the 70’s this week. This time next week, we’ll be hitting the lows in the 30’s. I made the most of it with some long hikes this week.

Sunday, my pup turns 1 year old. Although he probably has another year of building up muscle and he will most likely will still act like a puppy for a year or so yet. It is hard to believe I got to be there the night he was born. He was born sixth in a litter of eight. Seven boys and one girl. He was the runt and struggled for nearly an hour. It was drawing fluids out of his nose and lungs and massaging him for nearly an hour. He weighed under a pound and I think he is probably still the smallest of the bunch weighing in at 64.8 pounds as of today. Even his sister is well over 70 pounds.

People said I was either crazy or envious that I was taking on a puppy at this age of my life. I have to say it was one of the best experiences of my life and for my husband, his first experience with a puppy. Being retired, I really have to say it was truly fun watching him experience all the firsts in his life for the first time. Snow, birds, airplanes, insects, other dogs, deer, rabbits, squirrels, rain, outdoor hoses, water, falling leaves and even something as common as corn stocks and Halloween decorations. Things we take for granted every single day. I don’t think I would have traded this year for anything. I have had dogs all my life and started training dogs at the age of 13. I learned a whole new positive training method this time around, of shaping as an opposed to luring. No negative stuff, It is really amazing how different the two are and how much better the new way is. I can’t wait for the years to come and to watch him mature and grow in confidence.

@clepant Happy birthday to your baby, he's gorgeous. As for the age thing, my neighbor who is somewhere in her 70s (I'm in a 55+ subdivision) just adopted a 3 month old Shih Tzu. She's less than 5 lbs and is a ball of energy who likes to nibble. She said she and her son adopted sisters and he got the quiet one. She's less than half the size of my cats with the face of an Ewok. It's definitely not crazy, having a pet is healthy for us "mature" people. Of course today is National Cat Day and both my cats are ignoring me after I just got home from work.

Brinkley made it through his first Halloween. Last year, I had his dad, Barkley for a month, while Brinkley and his litter mates were onliy two days old. Barkley did not like the costume creatures and was so apprehensive. Obviously, not socialized enough.
However, Brinkley wore a pumpkin costume and sat in the back of my Suburban while we passed out treats for humans and dogs and served adults hot chocolate, People loved the Farm to Pet treats and said it was a first time they got dog treats ever. He met our new neighbors and he licked a little girls hand with lots of dog slurps. It was a great night for him. I walked him 2.5 miles and we ran and played for another 30 mins to get the zoo miss out. When he came in from being outside for 2,5 hours, he ran up to our bed and crashed. A most successful night despite our coldest night of the year thus far. Hope everyone had a fun, uneventful night. v5tuyy6gzfqn.jpeg
