A bit disappointed at the scale this morning, since I'm a full pound up from yesterday, but I know that realistically I should be happy because this was such an unusual week. My biopsy was early morning, so I couldn't get activity beforehand, and I was told to not exercise for a couple of days after and to work back into it slowly. So I didn't do much until the past few days, and for those, I walked some, but had to really crank down the speed. And of course, I missed my class on Thursday, and yesterday my co-leader took over pretty much so I could modify my movements and I also decreased my weights by half. But all in all, I suppose I'm happy to have stayed to have stayed within a pound of last week's weigh-in.
So here are my lower than average 7-day averages--
Steps = 6,881
Kcals Burned = 1,554
And low and behold, I did get the results of my biopsy late Monday afternoon. I was surprised since they had told me 5 to 7 business days, and that was less than 3. So the news was good. Not perfect, but good. The lump is benign. It's what is known as a sclerosing intraductal papilloma. Because there's a fairly high risk that these can become cancer, I'm being referred to a surgeon who will evaluate the findings and decide if it should be excised. That often is the case, and my thought is that if there's a chance it will become malignant, why leave it there? So I'm prepared for that to be done if needed. As with the other appointments, I am having to wait a while to get in, but I like what I'm hearing about this female surgeon. So I'm seeing her on September 4. That will also give me a chance to get over some of the soreness from the biopsy.
Hopefully, I will soon be able to get more activity, and in the meantime, I will do what I can, watch my intake, and remember that my doc said that you should drink half your body weight in ounces each day. So that means a little more than 65 ounces for me, and I don't think I've been quite meeting that mark.
Hope all is well with everyone else. Sheesh, I can't remember how long you will be on the West Coast. Lois, hope you've been able to get those tests done and that your foot and leg are still improving. Thinking of you, too, Kelly.

I'm here! Meant to post so many times and then something would come up. But I'm back and I'm hoping to post more often.
Sheesh - your trip looked amazing! Thanks for sharing some pics and you & your granddaughter are so beautiful in that picture you shared awhile back.
Sarah - Your situation with your biopsy is the exact same thing that happened with our kid's Mom. She has the same sclerosing intraductal papilloma and was referred to a surgeon. She was so nervous & stressed. She saw the surgeon and they decided that there was absolutely no point in removing it. They're just going to monitor it so she goes in every 6 months with him for a look over. I hope that helps ease your mind a bit. Also, the timelines of 2 months that you gave are exactly what she had here. It's pretty crazy... especially since they say early detection is key. I also can't believe how bruised you were for so long from the mammogram! I was thinking how absolutely archaic the mammogram machine is.. you'd think they would have come up with something a little more easier on woman, but at the same time, I'm glad they looked into the person who performed it on you! Definitely sounds like they need some retraining... like jeez lady. Did you manage to get rid of that dry cough you had?
Lois - I hear you with the can't give a crap about weight, size, eating or exercising at the moment. I went through almost 3 months of that already but I have finally found a bit of a groove. Like Sarah said, its hard to get back on track, but it's definitely doable!
Some things that are going on with me:
- The cabin is good. We're enjoying it as much as possible... plus doing work on it constantly. Trying to make sure we enjoy it more than doing work... finding a happy balance. We don't have the time to do everything all at once and we definitely don't have the money either.
- The house is good. We're still waiting for our realtor to tell us it's a good market for us to try and sell to get what we want. We've decided that no matter what, by Spring next year, we're selling, regardless of the price. It's just too much house for us and the amount we're spending on it is crazy for nothing.
- Hubby's work schedule is hopefully changing very soon. He works completely opposite shift as me, Sunday to Tuesday.. and I work Tuesday to Friday. We've been like this since I got this job, so 4 years and it's been tough. His schedule is supposed to change to Wednesday to Friday. This will help us so much and we'll get to enjoy the cabin even more.
- The kids are good. Tyler is about to get his full driver's licence. He goes for his test in 2 weeks and hopefully he'll be able to drive alone after that. He also got a job at the movie theatre and has been saving for a car. He'll be starting Grade 12 this Fall... which is so crazy. Ella is currently playing in the Canadian Ball Hockey Nationals in Saskatoon and is representing Team Manitoba. She's the youngest person on her team at 14 and it's an under 17 team. She also made AAA hockey this year, which is absolutely amazing and that's U18. All of this is awesome for the kids, but of course the stresses of $ are HUGE. AAA hockey alone is about $8-10k a season.
- For me, I've been still struggling with that eye swelling issue. I now take 2 prescription allergy pills a day, as well as an asthma pill at night. It seems to have helped, but I definitely don't want to have to do that for the rest of my life. They can't figure out what the allergy is. I go back to the allergist in September. I have also been struggling with shoulder pain. My physio believes it's my rotator cuff, but it could also be the start of frozen shoulder from what I've read. Of course all of these things that are happening to me could be peri-menopause, but my MAN doctor won't hear of it. Especially in regards to a discussion about HRT.
With everything going on, I have been horrible at remembering myself. I have really let myself go, but I'm happy to say that I'm finally seeing the light and am trying to do everything possible to be better for myself. I weighed on Saturday after my husband and I had a good discussion about it the night before (since he's in the same boat) and he's on board too. So, I'll put it in writing even though it's quite embarrassing but on Saturday my weight was 172 I need to do better. I mean way better. Just make better decisions but learn that I can still live life. I literally wasn't drinking any water, was drinking way too much coffee and was eating whatever was in front of me. At 42 years old, I need to realize my metabolism just isn't what it used to be. Since Saturday, I have been great at eating very well (I'm doing more low carb meals) and making sure I get in my activity. IPlus I'm listening to my body. I know I can make it a lifestyle change, so I'm doing it... even though it's difficult and way easier just to sit and watch TV. And.. I stretch before bed.. no matter what.
That's where I'm at ladies. Obviously I need some accountability and support, which I'm now realizing that I also stopped posting on here, when I stopped caring about myself. I really do appreciate you all and I'm so sorry I have been MIA. Just know that it wasn't you, it was me being in denial. But I'm back0 -

Kelly - WOW!!! Love love love the recap. And yes, I'm still at the point I just don't really care. I'm really happy with life overall. I can't even imagine managing two residences. One is super plenty for me so I hope the market moves for you so you can sell quickly and profitably.
Sarah - So so happy with the results. Those are good results. I'm happy for you. I know you're going to kick this crap to the curb and be awesomely awesome.
I had met with the NP last night for my physical. It wasn't what I have ever experienced as a "physical" pretty much another experience like last week's appointment. But she signed my paper and I'm almost done with the work issue. I meet with ortho tomorrow afternoon for the MRI results on my ACL graft. Once we have that, I'll be able to plan next steps.
On a quick note - I did reach out to the Chef for Seniors - I have a meet/greet on Tuesday morning. It's going to be about $200 + groceries for four meals (which can be made for four servings each meal). It will be more $$ than I've been spending on DoorDash etc., BUT it could be healthier options for us. So I'm going to scour their website and menus and select 4 meals from their selections and give it a try. I love that we need to schedule each appointment, so there is not the opportunity to be delivered when we travel. So this can be great for us. We can manage it financially.
Ladies - I hate to say that my weight continues to increase to 245. I've NEVER been this heavy before. Hubby's master uniform is snug, so we are both on board with this meal option/plan. So cross your fingers that we like the chef when he comes and they cook well. They shop, come to the house and prepare the meals. I expressed I don't like meat microwaved, and the rep told me they can use air fryer/oven safe containers if I want. I have pyrex with lids that could possibly work. And a spare set if I need more. So I'm pretty excited.

I'm so happy to see that I actually maintained.
I'm back from seeing all the kiddos and grands in Cali and Oregon, and it was great. We took a few little souvenirs from Europe, and some housewarming gifts for the new (rebuilt) house in Cali. Our large suitcase was so heavy (a couple of wine bottles included) we had to rearrange some things into carry-on so we weren't billed extra, but we got it delivered to all, and they were happy. Our flight home last night was delayed twice. Our daughter insisted on driving us even though by the time we left the house the schedule for driving her teens to their activities had to be rearranged. We finally got home after midnight. We weren't on Delta for that leg of the trip, but the problems they had (happened after we got to Cali on Delta, thank goodness) have spread through all the airlines. I slept in today . . I was beyond tired. Hubby actually got up to go play golf with his group. I texted my trainer yesterday to cancel today's training because of flight delays. She's been over-scheduled with kids summer stuff, so she didn't mind.
Sarah, I'm so happy you finally know that your lump is benign. . That's such a relief!! I know you want it out, but I think there's probably a downside to the surgery to remove it, so listen to what the docs think about next steps. I'm so proud of you staying right around 130, even with all the stress and anxiety you've had. I tend to be a stress eater. Good work staying on track with movement, too. I took a quick look at your weather, and it looks like you got a little cloud cover today, although still pretty warm. Hope you got out for your walk.
Lois, good for you getting your doctor appointments and tests done, and also looking into meal options. I hope you'll check in to let us know the results of the MRI consultation today. I can feel you getting more geared up to take on challenges! I know you will. And, Happy Belated Birthday!!
Kelly, it's great to see you here, and thanks for the recap of all that's going on with you. You're very busy with what's most important in life . . raising kids. Kids driving!!! Wow. I remember that time. And your daughter sounds very athletic. . good for her! I know you'll find a way to squeeze in attention for you, and I'm so glad your hubby is on board with you. It's so important to stay as healthy as you can for your future together.
Well, it's past time for me to get busy. I plan to get a walk done (Apple Fitness Challenge is 14 3-mile walks this month, and I have 3 more to get it, lol), unpacking and laundry started, and I took some fish out of the freezer to make for dinner. Kelly, thanks for the reminder about water . . I'm logging it today.
It's good to be home until September. Hubby is going on his Alaska fishing trip in August. So, until we travel again in Sept, I have a window to get after some health goals.

What a treat to log in and see posts from all three of you! Kelly, thank you for sharing about the kids' mom. It does help somehow to know that someone else has dealt with the same thing. I will listen carefully to what the surgeon recommends. And I'm glad to hear that you're taking time to enjoy the lake and not get totally wrapped up in "doing things" there. I can get that way with my house, especially since we had the pipe catastrophe. I have a huge "needs to be done" list for this 52-year-old house, and trust me, that list is much bigger than my budget will accommodate. And I get how hard it is to get yourself moving after a busy day. That is what got me to my top weight right before our Bodybugg days. I worked long hours and sometimes even put in time on the weekends, and I was so tired, I didn't have the energy to do for me. Co-workers used to tell me that I was doing too much and that the company (or client) did not fully appreciate it and would gaily wave goodbye when I left. And guess what! They were right. So do a good job at work and be a good stepmom but remember that you still deserve to take time for you.
Sheesh, you did great to maintain with all that travel. And yay for you for doing that challenge! (We need to come up with some of our own here.) And yes, we've had some cloud cover today. When I got in the car after class to return the key, I could actually touch the steering wheel! That parking lot is sunny, and many days I've left there driving with the tips of my fingers until the A/C could do its job.
Lois, big kudo for looking into those meals. I've always felt like it's best for our health and our appetites to eat healthy meals that aren't all restaurant or fast foods types where they concentrate on taste alone and don't care about the healthiness of it. And if I'm reading that correctly, that's 16 servings, which comes out to $12.50 per serving. That really is not bad considering that there's minimal labor on your end. My gosh--we pay that much for a sandwich around here. And I'm sorry that the NP visit was not what you expected and probably should expect. I often wonder how much longer we want to pay a fee for concierge docs, but then my doc spends an hour with me, and last night and today, hubby has had some symptoms of diverticulitis, and they've already gotten him on medication to hopefully nip it in the bud. Just wish I could get the same kind of service when they have to refer me out. If this lump does need to come out, I fully expect that to happen in the fall. And I second Sheesh with please let us know the outcome of the MRI.

Good Friday morning.
Ortho appt yesterday. No surgery at this point. He said he couldn't really "see" the ACL, and until I'm active enough to show if I'm truly limited or not. Also, the he hadn't received the radiologist's report (what the heck - it's been over a week!). And age. Hahaha. So we're going to give it some PT and see if we can strengthen around it to support. So I'll be stopping to see my old PT peeps after I get off work today (1/2 day Friday still - woot woot) and get on the schedule. He wants to see if I can get it strong enough for Disneyland Labor Day weekend. He also ordered a doppler test, so I'm waiting on that phone call... concern about the swelling. I am also scheduling a follow up with him post Disneyland, just in case I have challenges... since he's at the local office on Thursdays, I can always cancel when we get home on Tuesday.
Sarah - hoping we can get 4 servings out of each "meal" , then yes. Absolutely worth it...as long as it also tastes yummy. And I also agree, it's still going to be a wee bit less than I'm spending on DoorDash (We rarely go TO the restaurant). What am I going to do about losing my fuel points from Kroger?? Oh no!! Lol. So I buy $200 gift card from our Kroger store weekly to cover our orders. Well then we get fuel points which equates to $1 off per gal (up to 35 gals per visit and yes, we get ALL 35 gals between the cars and cans). I save my pennies so I can spend my dollars...LOL. My kids chuckle at me. If we're actually going to go TO a restaurant, I also buy gift cards for approx what we'll spend and use the CC for any excess. So for the past few years, we've been receiving enough fuel points for 2 or 3 visits. Well, since I don't drive daily for work and hubby is under 2 miles, we don't use as much gas so we let the kids use the extras (daughter in cali really appreciates it as they are $1 more per gal than us. And when we visit, we attempt to use $1 off there to top off before we leave since it feels like it's almost double to what we usually pay.) So, see, pennies saved for my Disney dollars... lol. Anyway, I digressed. The cost to prepare the food s not excessive from what we're usually spending, but I'm hoping we do get the 4 servings and it tastes yummy. So I'll be spending time on the ChefforSeniors.com site this weekend to pick out a few options.
Sheesh - you always amaze me at how little you fluctuate when you travel...and how quickly you get back on it. So after my PT sessions, maybe this will be the nudge I need to get back to training.

Had my doppler on Friday afternoon... no clots. So guess we just live with the swelling. I'll be reaching out to PT this afternoon to get on schedule for Friday afternoon and next week.
Have I mentioned how I hate our summer season? Not just the heat but the storm systems...migraine hell this past weekend. HOWEVER, I did look at the menu options for the Chefs for Seniors and I made some selections and waiting for hubby's input. And their servings per item is typically 2... so it will be more $$ but probably still in the range of what I've been spending with DoorDash. We're committing to six meals our first time through and see how we like the experience and the meals. So $250 plus groceries. I will be checking my freezer for meats and fish that I already have as well and use those up.

Met with the chef this morning. We start on Monday! Fun fact. hubby teaches Tae Kwon Do and so seeing students/families whenever we go out is normal. Did NOT expect this team to be the parents of TWO TKD parents - who are the chefs. haha.0

TW (Saturday): 170 Slowly but surely.
Sorry I didn't post on Wednesday. We were at the cabin and I find it very difficult posting from my phone.
I'm still doing well with the eating but am struggling a bit with the activity. For years, I have had something going on with my left shoulder. I've been to physio, various doctors and no one can figure it out. Well, it got better for a long time and was mostly just nagging, but over the past month or so, it's been more sore than I'd like, so I went back to physio. She's been dry needling it and doing the exercises, and all was well, up until 3 days ago. Man alive it's brutally painful... and especially at night. I believe it's rotator cuff tendonitis, but that's just from me googling. I can't get back to see my physio until next week, as she's out of clinic this week. So it's ice, rest, advil.. but night is the absolute worst.. I could cry.
On top of all of that, during game 2 of Ella's Ball Hockey Nationals, she got injured. Physio says it's likely an ACL tear and possibly an MCL tear, but we won't know until we can get her an MRI. The medical system in our province is brutal, and the minimum wait if we're willing to travel 2 hours, is 8 weeks until she can get one. We're hoping that someone can help us out sooner, but hope isn't high. It's been insanely stressful on my husband knowing that she's supposed to start playing AAA hockey this week, which she won't be able to. She's in a brace all the time... although she has much more movement compared to when it first happened, so we're trying to be hopeful. The thought of paying thousands of dollars and her only playing part of a season or not a season at all, is devastating... nevermind the possibility of her having to have surgery if something is torn.
