Today's Topic: Does Emotion(s) play any part in your weight journey? Do we eat more when we're sad? or when we're happy?

I don't think most of us are real happy because the pants, ,shirts, skirts, blouses are tight so many of us react with a burst of I'm fed up with this and as an emotion you may go and say I'll get started on this tomorrow.

Do you react to your Emotions? And how?

I'm a pretty emotional guy. I do get mad at myself with my weight journey. I do however know that I've learned I can't let the emotion of the day direct my attitude toward getting to my desired weight.

I tend to be in better control when I'm I'm happy and in a good mood. When I'm said or depressed about something I think I turn to comfort which I think is food but have learned no it's not. I good bowl of ice cream might make me think I'm happy but the vengeance for eating it the day afterwards hits me and most times my attitude and good mood go right out the door with it.

Steady as she goes usually works best.

The only emotion that I find really messes with my weight-management is boredom. If I'm bored I'm "hungry." It's funny, because I can totally recognize it even in the moment when it's happening, but that doesn't prevent me from taking a pass at the cupboard or fridge!

Emotional eating happens from time to time, but is not a major factor. I do have trouble gauging hunger and my emotions could play some role in that.

Like Steve, boredom eating is a risk for me. Also, I still struggle with “well, I stumbled, so I might as well throw myself down the rest of the stairs” when I make a bad choice. Yeah, it’s not rational - we’re talking emotions, right?

Best description of this? “If my mood determines my food, I’m screwed”.

Friday I got into a thing with my mortgage company over the insurance escrow. Next thing I knew I was eating a snack bar. That kind of thing seems to happen a lot.

I do eat my emotions. So, I've had to put safeguards in place...usually getting up an moving in some fashion.

    I also have boredom issues.

    My worst is evening eating.
