The long football weekend kicks off with New England at the Jets on Thursday Night Football (for Charlie), and ends with two games on Monday night. There are plenty of college and NFL games in between. What do you expect from your favorite team(s) or player(s)? How did they do this weekend? What about those teams you love to hate? This thread is here for all your football talk.

I'm a Pats fan (also a Red Sox fan, also, I know masochist).
Hate? All the old AFL teams, especially the Jets. Also, the Cowboys and Giants, although the Giants was the closest to a New England team, back in the day.

Sorry Al, didn't mean to leave you out, although I should since you hate the Cowboys. I will pull for NE tonight because they are playing against Aaron Rodgers.

I'm not a big pro football fan anymore, but I follow a bit of college football ball due to being in a large ESPN weekly pool. I'll also gamble on a couple of games per season. I followed it more when the regional conferences made sense - - mainly ACC and Big East. The conferences are ridiculous now. Along those lines, I saw a meme earlier this week that is still making me laugh:

BREAKING NEWS: Florida State has filed a lawsuit to force the expansion of the College Football Playoff from 12 to 112 teams this season.

I hate all things Duke (not really a football school, though.)

Expect? Sadly, as a Pats fan I have no expectations. I think the Pats defense can potentially keep the Jets offense in check, but I’m not optimistic the Pats offensive line can hold up to the Jets defense. (Although I do say a prayer if thanks to Hassan Reddick every day he holds out.) Like last week, my desired outcome is that the Pats (continue to) play with discipline, and no key players get hurt.

Won’t be staying up to watch this one, but may DVR it. Frankly, I’d rather watch the DWTS that’s on DVR that I haven’t seen yet.

I have to admit that, as a Padres fan, I am following more baseball than football right now. And, I have become a huge soccer/international football fan over the years, to the detriment of my American football fandom.

That said, I expect Oregon to win. I used to be an OU fan as a kid, but that was mainly because I grew up in Texas, and one of the guys I played football in high school went to OU. But, upon moving to Oregon, I got hooked on Oregon football. Living so close to the campus, I converted.

The Cowboys suffer from Jerry Jones. I can't stand him. At all. Not even a little bit. He almost turned me off to the Cowboys. The Cowboys started playing in September following my birth the previous October. My family were huge fans. So, I literally have been a fan my entire life. That said, Jerry Jones has fostered mediocrity in the name of his ego. I always hope for the best with them, but I expect 'meh' most of the time. They should beat the Ravens. But, they should've beaten NO, too. lol

As a life long Jets fan (apologies to my friends from the new england area) I am pleased that the Jets won last night, but I am still not sold on the Abilities and most especially the durability of Aron Rodgers.

The greatest college football trophy of them all, bar none, is up for grabs tomorrow in Minneapolis. Let's go Gophers!

Guess things didn't work out Brian.

Did anyone see the end of the Colorado/ Baylor game? What a finish!

Oh my goodness, no! It was not a good weekend for my favorite teams, and it might turn out to be an unpleasant season.

Another loss for the Cowboys. Not a good start to the season.

The Cowboys game was brutal. Dak did his usual pad the stats act in the 4th Q after the game was out of reach.
