What do you guys use to shave? How long have you used it? What do you like or not like about it?
Why? I’ve got a Philips Norelco (like Santa used to ride in the TV ads) that I like, but it’s 14 years old. They’ve stopped making replacement heads for it, and I know eventually it’s just gonna stop giving a decent shave. Wondering if any of you have recommendations. (I gave up on the twin blade razors fourteen years ago; I got tired of nicking myself, and I doubt I’d do better if I went back to that.)

I prefer 2,3, or 4 blades. I bought a Norelco, after my bypass, as they put me on warfarin, and I didn't want to get nicked (although I haven't gotten a real nick for well over 20 years).
After a couple of years with the electric (and the whisker liquids) I got fed-up, and have gone back to the blade. No nicks (even with the 'wattle") since I went back. Just use hot water on my facecloth to soften up, then (carefully) shave, around moustache, goatee, and atop the bald pate.0 -
I shave with a double-edged razor, a stainless steel Feather AS-D2 model. It is a mild razor and shaves smoothly and damn close. Since switching from an electric razor, I've never looked back. I've had a minor nick about as often as the Chicago White Sox have won a game this year.0

I use to shave my face. But, now, I have a beard. Ba-dum-dum!
I prefer 4-5 blade razors. I hate, and I mean hate, the smell of men's shaving cream. So, I switched to Skintimate women's shaving cream. My nicks dropped tremendously, and the pull of the razor across my skin improved. I've never looked back.
I should note that I have a very thick and fast growing beard. I have never found an electric razor that worked for me.

I used a Norelco electric shaver for years. About 18 months ago I parked the shaver and started using a Harry's razor and blades. After Labor Day I started a beard. We'll see how that goes.0
