Mornin' all. Thanks for getting October started, Nanc.

I have been having a lot of trouble getting out of bed mornings the past week or so. It's getting cool at night and it's staying dark later, and I just want to stay under the covers. Going to have to work on that because it means no treadmill time in the morning.

Don't think I've mentioned that I'm totally off caffeine now. I quit drinking coffee some months ago, which I do fairly often for a week or two, but I just never went back to it. I was having one or two cups of caffeinated tea in the morning instead, and then I'd have herbal tea through the day if I wanted it, but now it's all herbal tea. It seems to help with the headaches and managing stress, not having caffeine.

    Plan for today...
B - smoothie (baby spinach/kale, plant based protein powder, beet powder, chia/flax, cinnamon, water) plus a couple walnut halves
L - baked russet, steamed broccoli and mushrooms
D - vegan taco and a margarita (going out with the boss and a couple long-time clients who have become friends) and will try to stay out of the fresh made tortilla chips and salsa but we'll see
    S - cantaloupe, maybe a yogurt

Nice job on the no caffeine, Mihani! Mmm now I'm craving some Mexican food! And a nice cold margarita. We used to go out for Mexican a lot more often when we lived in Bellingham. There are a few places here but the atmosphere is not the same.

Congrats on being all moved in, bisky. It's nice that the dogs love it, too!

Thanks for linking to the new month, Magic. I wouldn't have noticed. Hope your hip starts feeling better.

We had to special order a replacement hardware set for our leaking shower. The head, temperature handle, and the head on a cord. We are still waiting for it to come in and using the guest bathroom shower. The mold is in the closet with the door closed and a towel under the door. Joe doesn't want to open up the wall until we can clean it out and seal it up without the chance the plumbers will need access from the back.

Not this coming Friday but the following one is when the mouse cleaning / reinsulating team shows up. They will be here for 6 days but won't need to come in the house as far as I know. Friday, then M-F the following week.

Not much going on to report, just wanted to post something.

    today's plan

    coffee
    spinach potato pancakes
refried beans (onions and one slice chao creamy) and baked corn tortilla chips (made in the air fryer)
spring roll salad...herb lettuce, mint, Thai basil, cilantro, carrots, cukes, bell peppers, rice noodles
    Asian pear
smoothie bowl ... blueberry banana strawberry

Trying to stay away from wheat, for now at least.

Carla, I know about all those unexpected house fixes...just the other day, my garage door died. This summer, it was the fuse box. Oh, and also this summer, HOA dinged us for roof and pool repair $3,500.

I am never going to get this house paid off.

I am having a horrible time at work. I have a few very toxic coworkers who are bound and determined to push me far enough that I will react and get fired. Saturday (my hours changed to Wed-Sat) one went too far and well, I reacted and I am hoping I still have a job today. BUT, if I don't I will be ok...not sure how, but I have survived worse...EWINGS SARCOMA/BONE CANCER. Do not "F" with a Cancer/Double Knee Replacement WARRIOR, A $$ hole!

    later.

We ended up going somewhere else, Carla, because we found out it was National Taco Day and we figured the taco joint would be a madhouse with BOGO and etc. You really have your work cut out for you getting all these issues addressed at the house. The joys of homeownership. I am hoping nothing major goes wrong here in the next few years so I can get out and into the little condo that I dream of. I love my house, but I'm definitely downsizing when I retire.

I have lost the few pounds that I bounced up after a couple weekends of parties, junk food and alcohol. Onward and downward!

Meal plan for today is pretty much same as yesterday. Dentist 7 am ugh... I like going early so it doesn't interfere much with my day, but every time I think why did I schedule this so early?

Hey Nanc, we were posting at the same time. Sorry that your coworkers are causing problems again. Hope everything goes well today.

Woke up at 3:30 and couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and hit the treadmill for 1.5 miles at 3 mph. Felt good! Now I can get to the office early because I have a couple files I'm really stressed over and if I could get them done today I'd feel better about my life.

    Plan for today...
B - smoothie same ol' and a couple walnut halves
L - sweet potato and steamed broccoli
D - lots of lettuce and veggies in atoria wrap with good foods brand tzatziki
S - peach or apple, maybe both!

  • magic71755

Hope you got your files completed, M!

I did not go to the sauna, yesterday after work. Was so tired. Fell asleep right away, but then woke up. Made BLD for today...

    spinach potato pancakes
    tofu "steaks"
    spring roll deconstructed salad
    Asian pear
    blueberry pineapple smoothie bowl

Anyway, things are a little better at work. I did not get fired. I am staying clear of the toxic salesmen that will do anything, it seems, to try and push my buttons. WHO raises these cetins? How proud their children/parents/siblings/grandchildren must be. These are flippin adult male A## holes ... seriously, how sick they must be to get joy out of trying to make my day as miserable as possible.

I did go to HR and told her about it. NOTHING will be done. I said, Ok, I really do not have to speak to them unless they need something for work. She said that was fine. See, she did say, don't be rude. WTF? ME, not be rude. The world is totally UPSIDE down...un'fn believable.

I keep looking on indeed, but nothing is coming up. I am 76 in a few days. I have been at this job 9 years...I get money each month from the dealership that goes to my leased car ... in two years, I will buy out the lease and then I will be free if I choose to leave. But my end goal, by staying, is to pay off the house. This summer was a monetary set back. 20K in home fixes and my tooth. That is money that could have gone to the mortgage.

So, the upside here is being WFPB, my physical health is good. I do have a physical this month so I will get more info. But I had a score of ZERO on my calcium score in my heart. I guess, I have my knees to thank...

In 2019 I was looking for a way to reduce the inflammation in my burned out knees (bone on bone in both)...I had already done so many things to help the cause, and finally took the plunge and went PLANT BASED COMPLETELY. There is ALWAYS a bright side, eh?

Alrighty then...going to try and go back to sleep. TC all...ttyl.

Didn't get up quite as early but early enough for another 1.5 on the treadmill at 3 mph and did 10 or 15 minutes at 3.5. Got over 7,000 steps total yesterday and exceeded my zone minutes. I never seem to get the distance though. It's a goal for next week and will require a little extra walking or treadmill time in the evenings. That's not a bad thing. I've been pretty lazy in the evenings lately but I have the excuse I'm working late most nights... working late or not I should get a little movement in after spending all day at a desk. Most days I'm lucky to get a couple thousand steps in at work.

Changed up dinner last night and tried the FOK penne. It was really tasty! They only have 4 varieties so far but the website says more coming soon. I got one of each flavor and will try the rest over the next week. There were only a few left at Fresh Thyme so I will stop again this weekend and grab more before they are gone.

    Plan for today...
    B - smoothie
L - sweet potato with steamed broccoli and mushrooms (yesterday added some bragg's and nooch yum)
D - stir-fry veggies and edamame with purple rice
S - yogurt and an apple

Nanc, glad to hear things settled down at work for now.

I'm having good luck in the frozen foods at Fresh Thyme lately. In addition to finding the forks over knives entrees, I stumbled across Actual Veggies frozen burgers. No oil lots of veggies and beans. Was too tired to make stir-fry when I got home last night so I had a burger on a toasted ezekiel bun with spicy brown mustard and sliced zucchini and onion. Very tasty! I got the beet burgers, but looking forward to trying some other ones. I baked it in the oven for about 18 minutes in a small cast iron skillet with parchment paper.

Going to the office but taking my time this morning. Did 2 miles on the treadmill and already have my steps and zone minutes goals met.

    Plan for today...
    B - smoothie
L - sweet potato with steamed broccoli and mushrooms sprinkle of bragg's and nooch
D - veggie soup, wasa crackers
S - yogurt and an apple

Thanks, M! It comes in waves. These cretins are bullies. I am doing my best to move them along in my brain...but one is determined to make me as miserable as possible.

This is beyond my ability to comprehend...this is a 65 year old child. His family would be so proud to know they he does this to another human being.

Yesterday the "creep" had the day off. Work was just fine. Enjoyable ... no mine fields... just the way it had been going until he came onto the scene a year ago. Ego driven, self absorbed car salesman. Charming.

He is scheduled off next Saturday as well, the day before my birthday and weekend. Oh happy days.

Mornin' all. I slept in this morning and want to be in the office earlier so skipped the treadmill. I'll do that when I get home. Yesterday at the office was too busy and I didn't get to the files I wanted to work on. I want to get an earlier start because the boss won't be there until noon or later and I can get time in without interruptions. I'll get out by 2:00 or 3:00 so I can come home and do laundry and treadmill.

Nanc, your spring roll salad sounds delightful!

I am cooking some oats this morning for a change of pace. For the past few years I've been eating them raw just mixing with water, fruit, etc. shortly before eating.

    Plan for today...
B - oats with frozen cherries and mixed berries, chia/flax, oat milk, a sprinkle of grapenuts, cinnamon
L - white bean soup with wasa crackers
D - atoria wrap with loads of lettuce and veggies, good foods brand tzatziki
    S - apple, lundberg no-salt rice cake

M, I love raw oats (I do mix them with soy milk or almond milk), with frozen fruit ... Dr. Esselstyn eats that way...we are in good company 6uunzm4zr56r.png

switched up veg burger with refried bean tostadas...yum, messy to eat at work so I will have them the next three days.

Also, just egg for the next three days...have a carton to use up and spinach that will go bad. Then, too, I am switching over to oats. I bought Coach's Organic Oats from Costco...make them up in the microwave with water in 4 cup Pyrex...thinking I can do them AT WORK. Leave all the ingredients there...one less meal for me to prep.

Off to Sprouts to pick up a few things for the weekend and then it's cleaning and laundry day. Later, mates.

Didn't get out of the office until after 4:00 yesterday. Ugh. So no time to cook again but got laundry done. Going to try to get out early a couple days this week to come home and work on some files in peace. Did 1.25 on the treadmill at 3 mph this morning.

I enjoyed the cooked oats yesterday, Nanc. I read something about the cooked oats being more volume for the same calorie buck, which makes sense but never really thought about it before. I'll probably alternate a bit.

    Plan for today...
    B - smoothie
L - sweet potato with steamed broccoli and mushrooms, bragg's and nooch
D - stir-fry with red rice if I have time or a forks over knives entree, an apple
S - cup of soup, couple wasa crackers

    Happy Monday!

We are moved! Not unpacked but moved. Yesterday we took dogs for 3 mile walk in the park close by…was only going to do the 1.5 mile walk but Brooks added another loop. After walk unpacked 5 boxes then went back on base to get all my native/pollinator plants I had bought at Botanic garden. They have a lot of repairs to do to our house including a mold problem. There are cracks on the outside and inside where moisture gets in. Anyways nobody will be living there for a while and my plants looked horrible this weekend. Brooks dug up all my favorites. We put them in all the big pots I had bought at estate sales for now. Almost all my bushes and perennials had disappeared with the renters and back yard looked quite bare. Still lots to do before we get to replanting them.

Magic - your co workers sound very toxic. How do you ignore that ? Sad Human Resources not supportive or helpful. Can’t imagine he is a very good salesman. Sending positive vibes and hugs for you at work.

Mihani - killing it on the treadmill! I hope you can get out of the office early.

Carla - I love Mexican food too. We have wonderful Mexican restaurants and also “fruterias” . They have big bowls of cut up fruit that are delicious.

78 lbs down! Weight loss is so slow the closer I get to goal. Nutritionist and eating disorder therapist are happy with that. Still smarting from the remark my oldest sister made about moving stress might make me gain all my weight back. 🙄 She really nailed my biggest fear.

Brooks had a good wake up call. He is pre diabetic. His fasting blood sugar was 140 and his A1c up to 5.9. My recent A1c was 5.2 and fasting blood sugar 82. He has really cut down on sweets and unhealthy carbs recently. His PSA level has dropped by half 3 months after radiation treatments. Yay!😁

Off for an hour and half to play pickleball and then more unpacking.

    Ciao for now.

I love this. One would think we would know how to handle disrespect from family, friends and co workers by now but I need stuff like this.

Oh and I meant the house on base has the mold problems. Not the house we own.

Pickleball was fun. The majority are very nice and friendly. Looking forward to 2 mile walk with dogs and swimming tomorrow.

Yay for getting moved, Bisky. I enjoy unpacking more than packing. I like getting things put away and organizing.

Nanc, you reminded me I was reading up on making my own baked tostadas and going to give that a try soon. Fresh Thyme used to carry a baked tostada but they don't have them anymore. I saw them on amazon but the reviews weren't great. Show up mostly crumbs.

Did 1.5 at 2.5 to 2.7 mph this morning. I have a pain in the side of my foot, almost like a cramp, so I kept it slower. I should find a better pair of walking shoes. I love my skechers but for serious walking I probably need something else. I like new balance and have a couple pairs but they are pretty worn out.

Heading to the office early today.

B - oats with all the usual goodies
L - forks over knives entree
D - atoria wrap with lots of veggies and lettuce, good foods tzatziki
    S - apple, pumpkin seeds

    Today...

    coffee
    oatmeal with flax and blueberries
    spring roll salad
air fried taquitos...just refried beans in a fresh corn tortilla...dipped in pico with V sour cream
    smoothie bowl

Lulu gets a groom today...tomorrow she is 7 years old. Can't believe it...where does the time go. I fought so hard to get her...she is a rescue from Cuddly Canines of So Cal...I will try and post the picture that drew so many applicants to her. But I won the lottery when thankfully, they gave her to me. Her birthday is October 9 and I adopted her on December 20, 2017. She was found in the California desert with her mom and three siblings, in a flea infested box. Now, she lives her best life with me. She took over for my Ernestine (2003-2017 RIP sweet girl) ... the job of being the best little companion and making sure I stayed healthy.

I decided to make a batch of oatmeal on the stove...four servings for the next four days at work. I also prepped four, spring roll salads. All that is left to do is make refried bean taquitos the night before or early morning, same day. Very happy that is done. My biggest downfall is when I do not have enough food prepped or I am racing around in the morning.

HAGDE! (Have a great day everyone ... now, you know. B) )

Magic - Thank you. This is so weird…I love the uncluttered simple look now. I also love the new sectional even though dogs believe it is a new dog bed. I also love the Denzel Washington you tube video about silence. I am going to listen to it over and over again at night. Reacting versus silence to give yourself time and space to not let someone control your emotions. Powerful.

Mihani - Good supportive shoes are so important. Brooks was having problems with foot pain and switched to HOKAS. Then he started running with them and bought me a pair. They are so comfortable and supportive but pricey. Oh and congratulations on kicking the caffeine! That is huge. How is your sleep?

Carla - We have a leaking shower nozzle I think we are going to need to replace. Our garbage disposal died suddenly yesterday and need new electric panel with surge protector. It is always something.

Waiting for sun to come up to take dogs to the park this morning. Then swimming and eating disorder therapist. She also suggested silence and boundaries when insulted. Going to bed early and getting up early. This was never my lifestyle. As a nurse I worked 3 pm - 11:30 pm and would go to bed about 1:00 am and sleep until 9 or 10. I love quiet dark mornings lately.

    Plan
    B - smoothie
    Snack 1/2 Apple and pistachios
L - black bean, peppers and onion veggie bowl
    Snack hummus and carrots
D - maybe sweet potatoes and roasted veggies.

Great job on your prepping Nanc. And OMG, puppy pic is adorable!

Bisky, I like less clutter now too. I got rid of a ton of knick knacks over the past 10 years and only have things that make me happy and are meaningful to dust now.

Love pups on the couch. They look quite comfy.

Thanks for the tip on the shoes. I looked them up and there's a roadrunner sports shoe store a couple miles from my house that carries them. Had no idea it was there, but looking forward to going in and getting a real fitting and finding the perfect walking shoes. Will try to get there tonight.

Only did a mile at 3 mph this morning since my foot is still sore.

    Plan for today...
B - oats with all the usual goodies
L - sweet potato and steamed broccoli and mushrooms, nooch and a splash of bragg's
D - atoria wrap with veggies and spring mix
    S - apple and yogurt

    Hi Everyone,
Alexa here. Hope you're all doing well on your health journey. Silly question... What's your favorite salad dressing? I would love some suggestions. 🙂 I make an Almond butter and Low-fat Coconut dressing which I also use as a dip but need to change it up.
