Oh fun, bisky, though I'm disappointed it won't be near me, darn! Which months will you be there for? And which city? We did a cruise to Alaska in August 7+ years ago and enjoyed it.

Thanks for the memory refresher, Mihani. Now I remember. It was a meal plan where half of the squash is used in some other dish that we also enjoyed. Unfortunately, I had my hard drive fail a few years back and that recipe was lost. I might have a printout of it somewhere around here. I'll have to take a look.

I do feel bad for the Biggest Loser contestants, and there was a lot going on behind the scenes that made it even worse than what was shown BUT I will say that Joe and I were very inspired by that show and it kicked off our weight loss back when we lived in Canada. It had some touching moments, and some fun moments, and as I said, very inspiring to 2 couch potatoes.

I think I saved the recipe, Carla. I'll take a look for it this weekend and send to you. Haven't been at my real PC this week since I've been at the office late.

So glad it's Friday. This week flew by so busy. I am going to spend all day tomorrow in the office but have some fun plans this weekend. Tonight cocktails with friends, Saturday night a charity dinner/show with a group of friends, Sunday visit with another friend and her family who I don't see often and looking forward to catching up.

    Plan for today...
B - a few bites of leftover baked beans
L - oats with all the usual goodies
D - BBQ jackfruit with mac and "cheese"

    Wow, Alaska 5ucxmietmj0d.png
...that is for sure getting out of the heat...like, seriously! cyr1332iyfsc.png

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes...I thank God, everyday, for these crappy knees...I do not think I would have found my way to WFPB otherwise. Years ago, I kept searching for ways of reducing the inflammation in my knees to help reduce the pain...I kept eliminating stuff until I was finally down to fresh parm and ALASKAN wild caught salmon. April 4, 2019, garbage truck was coming...early morn, decided that was the day, and put both in the trash. The rest is history!

Trying to stay ZEN at work...not easy with idiot adult males imitating junior high school girl/bullies...it's the two against one deal. What fools they are. My karma, at the moment, neither are selling cars...one has 1 1/2 out this month, the other 3 1/2. The 1/2 means they have to split it with another salesman.

I do try to stay quiet, but sometimes my face gives my emotions away. Today, I am going to do better. More air pod Denzel, keeping me focused!

    today...

    coffee
    rice and stir fry veg
    carrots and bitchin sauce
    gardein burger
    refried bean burrito
wild blueberry/banana smoothie bowl, no toppings.
HAGDE! For you worker bees (you know who you are) , who made it this far this week: It's tjiniz9d9lnp.png

Nice to be in Alaska through the summer, bisky. We didn't get to spend much time in anchorage, mostly just heading to the airport at the end of our cruise, but I'm sure it will be a great adventure! I hope you have the chance to go to Denali Nat'l Park. If we are back in that area, we'll set aside some time to do that.

Whew, a busy week at work and then all of that social, Mihani. Good for you! If you end up checking for the recipe, please look to see if I sent you the partner recipe. I believe it is a casserole that uses half of the prepared squash. It is one of my faves. I will be doing a kitchen reorganization at some point soonish and will keep an eye out for them too.

Sorry you have to work with buttholes, Nanc. Back when I worked in an office, there was always drama downstairs, and I was very happy to have an office upstairs, escaping the worst of it.

Thanks, Carla! I know I am not alone ... I google this stuff all the time (how to keep my sanity v3i1z2nnemka.png
working with "buttholes" ) ... how to stay above it all...so not easy. Loads of peeps going through the same thing. The part I just do not get is why anyone would, knowingly try, to make anyone's life more difficult at work...AT WORK! Unreal.
This is the second go around with both of these bozos. I have caved in the past and let my guard down and became friendly (not talking about work related stuff) and that's when the sh*$ hits the fan. They take my friendliness and a sign to belittle me and then that turns into bullying me.
    NO MORE 2ar9qnx7j4bj.png
...only allow work-related stuff. No chit chat about anything...no longer opening the door to have sand kicked in my face, AGAIN. Idiots!

Today, finishing up a few meals and then this weekend going for major greenery! Juices and Spring Rolls. Mommy Tang (you tube) is such a character...when she makes Spring rolls, she makes the loudest, most delicious crunches and makes it all look soooooo good.

I got a gift card to Sprouts so will stock up on fresh veg for both Joe Cross' Mean Green and Spring rolls...also, I think I found a place that sells Atoria's lavash. My Sprouts stopped selling them. That would be my perfect work lunch for next week. I like eating the same thing for the four days...easy, when I meal prep.

    menu the same as yesterday...
    coffee
    just egg and spinach
    gardein burger
    refried bean burrito
    blueberry/banana smoothie bowl

Hi all... had fun last night but went back to bed this morning and probably won't get to the office until 10:00 or so. Oh well. Need to be out by 4:00 to get home and get ready for the fundraiser tonight.

Your plan sounds great, Nanc. I like the atoria wraps but they don't always have them so I got a bunch of ezekiel tortillas last time at the store all stocked in the freezer. Are you still doing the sauna on work days?

May be looking at a house tomorrow. I am not too excited because it is overpriced for the area but beautifully re-done top to bottom so we'll see.

My weekend...sauna only on my weekends. Too much going after work.

    today...

going to my sister's this morning to bring over a few of her birthday gifts...she is having her own 80th birthday party on 10/31...not a good day for the receptionist to be off...it's a dealership thing...hopefully we are busy and it will be worth missing her party.

    oatmeal
    spring rolls
    green juice
pasta dish using rice pasta...zucchini, tofu, carrots, celery, onions, Italian seasoning...pasta sauce...think this will be my work lunch next week. Make a lot and freeze.
    smoothie bowl

    HAGDE!

Busy few days and wasn't feeling well last night. Went to bed early but didn't sleep well so I slept in a bit this morning and won't get to the office until probably 8:30. Going to eat light today just oats, banana, miso tea, etc.

Busy days coming up so I may be a bit scarce.

Too bad you're going to miss your sister's birthday party, Nanc.

    Hope u feel better, M! ak3efc907tkp.png

I did not make the pasta dish. I did make, however, green juice! YUM!

    today

    bean burrito
    but first, coffee
    green juice mid morning
spring rolls...going to try and imitate Mommy Tang...man, when she makes those spring rolls, she devours all the greens...
dinner: stir fry rice and veg
    dessert: smoothie bowl
I saw the doc yesterday...she thinks I should keep doing what I am doing. MUCH healthier than most of her patients my age and YOUNGER! I could definitely improve on some of my numbers. Going to see if I can stay away from some of my processed vegan favs...namely Gardein Little Ultimate Be'f Burger.
    -sigh- vscjg1ukcn78.png
I will post some of my numbers later. I do need to lose 15 pounds...really 30, but I would be happy with 11. Hell I would be happy with FIVE! -sheesh- I am back up to 151! Ridiculous! isxxf5f5566a.png

I love my new schedule. It kinda feels like I am retired...MON TUES off (and Sunday), but the Mon/Tues makes it feel like wow, I would love this...retirement thing. But I know myself, I would not get nearly as much done as I do now, working. So, for now, this is just fine.

I have three stores to hit today...Sprouts, TJ's, Costco. GTG... HAGDE!

I'm trying to get back on plan after going waaaaay off track.

For the past few days I've been making Vietnamese salads with tofu and loving them. I put in shredded purple cabbage, shredded carrots, red bell peppers, romaine, and thai basil. The colors are gorgeous! For a dressing I'm using a peanut dressing (just peanuts peanut butter, a little rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, a little maple syrup, and tamari). The warm tofu goes on top of the salad, then dressing, green onions and a sprinkling of chopped peanuts. I think I could have this every day.

I haven't had as many Plantage meals so Joe has been eating the extras. Today he took a meal in to the office instead of oatmeal and going to a food truck. Depending on what is on the Plantage menu for next week, we might try a half order again while I'm feeling inspired about cooking.

This coming weekend I'm excited to try a new recipe I found online for a hearty stew using jackfruit. Amazon has young jackfruit in bags for sale instead of canned and packed in water. I'll let you all know what I think. The recipe includes gnocchi too, and some red wine for flavor.

    Today
    Vietnamese Salad w/ tofu
Plantage Galette, Butternut & White bean soup, greens.

rats. I typed out a comment and did not post it

Carla - I am excited but have several concerns regarding Alaska. Can’t wait to hear how jackfruit stew turns out!

Mihani - a new house? That is very exciting. I hope work does not keep you too busy this week.

Magic - love your new schedule! Hope less exposure to jack@$$&$. Do you have to work longer days? Keep giving them the silent treatment and let them make fools of themselves. How is the coworker who is back on the shots for weight loss? It is a sad gimmick now. So many people believe they “need” that drug now.

I have gotten so questions with my almost 80 lbs down. did I take the drug? I started Feb 2023 with therapist and nutritionist. It is about 17 months to lose 80 lbs. equals out to 4.5 lbs a month. It was more in the beginning but now down to 1-2 lbs a month. I really do want to lose 5 lbs before Xmas. Tomorrow 2 hours of pickle ball, swim 30 min, book club in afternoon then mahjong in evening….maybe mahjong. They tend to eat and drink a lot in the evening games.

Baking 3 sweet potatoes tonight. One for sweet potato smoothie!

Bisky, I listened to another "Denzel" yesterday...it kinda took the let the anger go route...it only hurts you. It's pretty good...DESTROY YOUR ENEMY WITHOUT FIGHTING THEM - Powerful Denzel Washington Motivation on the Growth Mindset channel. I had such a nice weekend that the bad guys
barely made a blip on my radar the past three days. It felt so good.
    today...

    coffee
    bean burrito
    green juice
left over stir fry and rice
    green juice
    carrots and bitchin sauce
smoothie bowl for dinner with some freeze dried toppings and a few walnuts

If you need something to watch on Neflix...highly recommend The Lincoln Lawyer. Season three just dropped the other day....soooooooooooo good. mkrl2ll9gpm4.png

Oh I love the Lincoln Lawyer! Also Only Murders in this Building.

Ihave been having problems with anger lately. 3 moves in 3 and a half years has done me in. I am having trouble processing going to Alaska for 6 months. Magic, Glad the bad guys are fading away into background noise and not triggering you.

Both thumbs and wrists are hurting this am….all I can think it is from walking Obi and Buster as they pull a lot. Cleo ( aka Miss Perfect) and Charlie Bear (aka Mr. Grubby Pants) do not pull. Looking forward to swimming as it helps aches and pains. Hope I can hold the pickleball paddle.

I have been getting up with Brooks every morning at 0500 to make us a healthy smoothie to start the day. I think it is helping him to eat less junk. His A1c was up to 5.9 and he is not eating any sweets after dinner. We had sweet potatoes topped with roasted red peppers, black beans and onions last night. 😋😋😋

Glad things are going better at work, Nanc. I am planning to make a big batch of red rice tomorrow to eat through the weekend with veggies, in salad, etc. Great news about your doctor visit.

Bisky, I can imagine all that moving getting to you. Ugh! Hope your wrists and thumbs feel better. I'm amazed how much I love sweet potatoes now. Used to despise them but I eat one most days with steamed veggies or cut up into my salad.

Carla, that salad sounds right up my alley, yum!

I am not sure about this house. It's a lot to consider and the timing isn't perfect, but it never is.

Managed to get up on time and do a mile and a half on the treadmill. First time this week I've met my step goals.

I'm still not feeling 100% but I am working from home tomorrow because I have errands to run mid-day that I can't do in the evenings or on the weekend. Figure I'll work until 10:30 then go do all my running around, and should be home and back at my desk by 1:00.

    Going to bed early.

A good quote I read today: Weight loss is not a race but a journey.

Interesting book club yesterday. Got off subject about food and diet. Someone brought up the Carnivore diet. Never heard of it but sounds like Keto. I had to bite my tongue several times. One thing everyone agree upon was less or no sugar as the sat around eating pumpkin chocolate chip bread and frosted pumpkin muffins and drinking sweetens tea and lemonade. Now I know I sound judgmental and honestly I am but can vent to you ladies.

Vent away, Bisk! The best thing is to stay quiet and bring it back here. I finally found out, at the ripe old age of 76, is to truly listen and talk less. Also, do not let on to your plans to people who wish to see you fail...which, let's face it, is pretty much everyone except those so very close to you...your very own posse. Our team, here, is truly on your side. You have so much to be proud of...keep doing your thing and let them chatter away...inside, they are all jealous of your success!

I am pretty much eating the same thing everyday this week...

    coffee
    bean burrito
    Green Juice!
    rice and veggie stir fry
blueberry/banana smoothie bowl with some freeze dried toppings from Trader Joe's...and a few walnuts.

Also, Sweet Loren's breakfast biscuits. Plant based but they are cookies, let's face it. Those with a cuppa tea, at work for afternoon treat to see me through til 6.

My hours are the same, 4-10s.
Things are much better at work. I no longer trust anyone. I stay very quiet...just doing my work and never engage in office chit chat about others. I am letting it all play out on its own and the bad guys now have no one to bully. Team ME! 19pxbuvseto9.png

Y'all are just fine venting here. Better than having confrontations that do no good.

I got treadmill done again yesterday but overslept this morning. I will make sure to get on there first thing tomorrow morning before I leave for the office. I plan a LONG weekend of work. Everything is crazy and I see no hope or light at the end of the tunnel right now.

Mostly eating oats, smoothies, sweet potatoes, steamed veggies, fruit, etc. I am happier and feel better when I keep it simple.

Well, the peace did not last. And now I am up in the middle of the night. I hate salesmen...I have never ever had a problem with co workers...ever! I miss my teaching buddies so much. The most caring people. I have 2 1/2 years to go. I am up, looking for something helpful. I just need to learn to not let them get to me. Can you believe these bullies? I came back to work on Wednesday and my phone cord was tied in knots.

I greet the customers and find out if they are here to see someone, have an appointment with a sales person or need a salesman, called a fresh up. But the JERK I work with, jumped into my greeting and did not let me find out what they needed (he INTERRUPTED...so flipping rude) to be sure to get the customer first before another salesman.

This happened yesterday, late in the day. I let the IDIOT interrupt me and take over, I was not going to try and argue with the idiot on who should be speaking to the customer...it really made HIM look stupid. The group of three had an appointment with NOT the jerk that interrupted me, but with someone else. I stepped aside and said ok you take over. *kitten*!

Later, when he knew I was NOT happy...him came over to me to talk about it? NO! He was shouting in my face and I said I am not having this conversation.

That was the gist of it. You would have to see the layout of my desk and how he knew I was standing there talking to the guests...he said he did not see me. BS!

I was trained for this position by the best and she was my supervisor and they let her go during Covid. She would not have stood for his behavior, but now I no longer have a supervisor ...I am it. I have someone I go to for days off and sick leave type stuff...but no longer is there someone who oversees the receptionist position.

Going to go look for something on youtube to help me. The Denzel talks help a lot. Oh, and I just feel these guys are trying to get me fired...so there's that part too.

I reacted too much. I know that. But what kind of a person interrupts the receptionist speaking to the customers as she is gathering info on how to help them.

oh well. keeping silent today at work. I do go to the sauna on Saturday nights after work...to get a good start on the weekend. boy do I need it. later. thanks for listening.

I will go to the sauna if I can get back to sleep. I have been up for three hours.

You, guys...I am a kind, caring, loving CAPABLE person...this job is not fun. I only have 2 1/2 years left and if all goes according to my payment plan...I will own my own home outright. My first in my lifetime. This IS my goal. I cannot let these flippin idiots win.

Mornin' all. Sorry to hear things are still tense at work, Nanc. Only thing you can do is not let it get to you and let it go.

Got up early and jumped on the treadmill for 1.25 miles at 3 mph. If I do at least 1.25 miles then I am over 3000 steps and have all my zone minutes before breakfast. Easy to get to my goal of 5000 steps by the end of the day after that and usually I'm closer to 7000.

Plan to be at the office by 9:00 or 9:30, then to my brother's to help him with a computer thing, then to Fresh Thyme. Tomorrow I plan to work from home because I have lots of laundry to catch up, and will also run to the wholesale club to stock up on household necessities, canned beans and frozen fruit.

    Plan for today...
B - ezekiel toast with tahini
L - oats with all the usual goodies
    D - big ol' salad

Since I'll be home tomorrow I will make a nice stir-fry with baked tofu. The leftovers are good cold added to salad and will keep me for a few days.

Mihani - good for you taking care of yourself despite the work stress.

Magic, I think you handled it well. Were there any witnesses to his behavior? I would start recording him with my phone. If he tries that again I would simply state you are aware we have security cameras and your inappropriate behavior is being recorded? If you do record him yelling or threatening you simply state your behavior makes me feel unsafe. Or continue with silence. Are you keeping a log documenting time, date and what was said in case he does try to get you fired? He is a bully and thinks he is picking on someone weaker than him but he does not know how strong you are. Trust your feeling that he is trying to get you fired and take counter measures to protect yourself.

I have problems with car salesmen. Brooks lets me do the research and decide on cars. I love looking at cars. Recently we had our car in for service (Brooks handles repairs) I stated I was going to go look for a hybrid I had my eye on. 3 salesmen with name badges were standing around talking…not one in 15 min asked if I needed help. I had even looked at them and made eye contact. I came back to service area, Brooks asked how did it go…I stated no one offered to help. The service man immediately said I will get someone and I said no, they had their chance. I said let’s send Brooks out and see how long it takes….serviceman and I watched… less than 3 minutes… someone from that group approached Brooks and introduced himself…Brooks said Hello, I am Col. Goettle and you have missed your opportunity for a sales by ignoring my wife!😂😂😂 I walked up behind him and gave Brooks a sweet smile. Brooks stated I am the Col. But she is the General. 😹. Brooks can be so sarcastically funny. Overall I don’t think car salesmen are a happy group.

Changing our reaction to the triggers takes practice. We will have some failures but going back over it and reviewing the situation and how we could have handled it differently will help get us there. That is what my therapist says. She says to visualize 3 different reactions….1. Picture myself losing it, yelling and saying inappropriate things with name calling (to my older sisters) making myself look unhinged. 2. Saying nothing, remaining calm, breathing. 3. Smartest response I can think of that sets boundaries. Pick a response and keep visualizing the more positive response. Unfortunately I can’t always think quickly. I just react but the silence is a safe option. I think what you said: we are not having this conversation was brilliant. YOU Set a boundary.

This visualization technique also works with food. Picturing myself stuffing my face with unhealthy food and alcohol, feeling sick and bloated, picturing myself in a swim suit eating healthy fruits and vegetables, picturing myself not eating and feeling deprived, etc….really helps prior to going out…looking at menu and visualizing how my choices will make me feel. I did this Thursday night prior to Friday lunch date. Knew I was ordering salad and grapefruit juice with club soda. I did it despite my friends having 2 mixed drinks plus dessert. I saved 1/2 my drink for dessert. One person who is not a close friend remarked it is Friday and I should let loose. I stated I have worked too hard on my weight loss and health journey to go backwards. I actually visualized that response to peer pressure to over eat and drink. The best food rewards are to nourish our bodies.

Brooks bought me a new pickleball paddle last night! He also made delicious black beans with chipotle peppers in instant pot. Going to have them over a baked sweet potato and make my favorite chipolte sweet potato black bean chili!

    Thank you both...

BISK! The car salesman story...deeeeeeelicious! I wish I could have been there ... priceless.

I am going to do better. The customer gave me a look like what's with this guy? This is not the first time this has happened ...with this idiot and others.

I did fall back asleep a bit...but am not feeling all that great...HOWEVER, I am strong, capable and know my WHY as to why I am working there...and no one is going to derail me...and if they do, I have a strong case to take it to whatever higher ups I have to go to. I do not believe the other salesmen would stand up for me. But I did report it to the HR lady, and even text'd (is it texted?...hehe) her a bit what was happening.

The funny thing is that this particular idiot/car salesman only got hired on my recommendation...well, he got to see the hiring manager because of me. He has been here maybe 1 1/2 years.

The receptionist is just that...part of my job is in my TITLE, duh. Can you imagine going anywhere where you are greeted by the receptionist and you are having a conversation and someone else comes up and asks CAN I HELP YOU...with you standing there. The stupidity of these morons.

    menu is...

    coffee
    green juice
    stir fry and rice
    bean burrito
    smoothie bowl
    sweet lorens biscuits and tea

I hope u have a productive day at work, M! Great job on the TM.

I will try the visualization thing, as well, Bisk!

Sorry I am all over the place. Later, dollies! Thanks again.

Oh, one last thing...I am my parents' daughter...I am bright and I am a survivor...and these bozos are NOT taking me down. Not only that, I am LULU'S MOM. She is the reason I am doing this...SHE IS MY WHY! TOTALLY UNBREAKABLE!

Had a better day today, but still up on the middle of the night. Cleaning the kitchen.

I tried my best not to react to any of the nonsense...but you guys, there is just so much and it's hard to keep my face from reacting. I keep my words to myself, but my face has other ideas. (hehe)

Excited about eating a ton of veg today...especially spring rolls. I might even make some vegan sushi.

Nothing else going on. Just fall clean up and laundry today and tomorrow. Also, walks with Lulu and sauna time. Not going to SAUNA work days. Lulu is alone too many hours as it is. I came straight home last night.

    today...

    coffee
    green juice
    rice and veg stir fry
    spring rolls
    vegan sushi
    smoothie bowl

Busy day of chores and laundry and grocery. My plans got sort of switched around and now I'm home eating lunch, will finish laundry, put fresh sheets on the bed, then work until bedtime.

B - muesli with oat milk
L - cuban blackeyed peas and a bagel with a smidge of PB
    D - big ol' salad

I have a bunch of frozen mixed veggies that are at their best by date and I wasn't enjoying them much plain so I think I'll make a big pot of lentil soup this week and throw all those bags of veggies in there. Got a bag of little potatoes that I can cut in half and throw in there too. Should be easy and tasty.

    coffee
    green juice
stir fry veg and rice brekky
stir fry veg and rice lunchy (left over from brek)
    bean burrito taco
    smoothie bowl

Lulu has something going on with her leg, she keep licking an area...and the fur has turned brown...so taking her to vet today. They have urgent care walk in starting at 7...so we are getting ready now.

    have a good day everyone...later.

I hope Lulu is okay, Nanc! Let us know. I like Bisky's suggestion of having a recording or video, some sort of proof. Other than that, if it is making you so unhappy, you could always look for something else quietly while still working there. You never know, you might find a place where you can be happy for the next 2.5 years.

The visualization techniques are good advice. I'm going to give it a try.

Great story about the car salespeople and Brooks' response. Perfect.

I made a yummy hearty stew with young jackfruit that I ordered from Amazon. The jackfruit comes in a big vacuum packed bag and is ready to use, no draining or rinsing required. The recipe calls for whole wheat flour BUT tapioca starch would work instead (better than arrowroot for high heat).
https://veggiesociety.com/hearty-vegan-stew-recipe/ The recipe page has a link to the jackfruit on Amazon that I'm talking about.

I made a fresh greek salad for lunch today and it was good.

Oh, and the plumber finally made it to our house! he took 2 parts away with him to show the person that does the ordering. He said he'll be back in about a week or so. I will be so grateful when I have my nice big shower back with no curtain to deal with. And then I can finally shave my legs :D

Lulu spent most of the day at the clinic...I wasn't sure what was going on...continued licking near her dew claw...turning her white fur brown...and for some reason, she started limping Sunday night.

What a faker. No limping at all at the clinic...and they did all kinds of test on her joint movement...she was fine and no reaction. But they did take blood to make sure nothing systemic is going on (which was my concern) ... will be waiting on blood tests. So for now, she is ok...thanks God!

I am on Indeed and always on the lookout for something that I could easily move into. For now, just trying my best to not get fired... 6byxs2re309g.png
