HOW IT ALL WORKS: The November challenge runs for five weeks, from October 27th - November 24th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get November on the road!

    Welcome to November 2024!

I am Lauren, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86. I am 38 years old and from North Carolina, USA. I have been on a weight loss journey most of my adult life. I have done a lot of the yo-yo thing, losing a lot of weight in 2012 and then gaining it back. Over the last few years, I seem to be gaining and losing the same 10-15 pounds.

October was a great month for me. I lost 7.8 pounds and made it to onderland (hoping I can lose the candy weight and get back there before Tuesday). My goal for November is to hopefully lose 4-5 pounds by tracking every day, getting 7,000 steps daily, and getting more sleep by not being on my phone in bed. I also have a 5k Thanksgiving morning!

    Some helpful information/tools:

    Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...

    Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time (but don't sweat it if you have to use a different day sometimes)! Put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, you can request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can be moved to the "Support Team" where you still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.

    The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try:
    https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10926710/habit-tracker-november-2024#latest

So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. We all have information to share, things we can learn, and lean on each other as a team for a successful month!

What are your mini habits or mini goals for this month that will help you get where you are going?

What are you currently struggling with at the moment?

I ate too much this past week and it is catching up with me. If I eat off track for a few days in a row, it is even harder for me to get back on track and the sugar almost rewires my brain to say, why am I doing this again?

My mini goals for this month are to track every bite, lick, taste ( I didn't track 4 days last month 😯), get 7,000 steps daily, and continue not being on my phone in bed. I did use it a few times towards the end of October and it needs to go back across the room on my dresser!

We have 3.5 weeks until Thanksgiving in the US, so going to aim and stay on track for that long, splurge a little for 1 day, then get right back on track.

Hello everyone. My name is Lennie, I’m 5’2”, 65 years old and I live in California. I'm retired with my husband and an 11-year-old Boxer. I have two adult children that no longer live at home, so my husband and I are empty nesters. I love animals and volunteer at our local animal shelter. My husband and I love to travel. We love good food and good wine. That's how I ended up at my highest weight of 179. I am a returning member and really want to focus on getting healthy. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol – not a good combination. I need to work on good eating habits, change my diet and figure out how to enjoy life and stay healthy. I’ve been able to drop 20 lbs. so far but I still have a ways to go. I've joined a local gym and my goal this month is to get there at least three times a week. I look forward to hearing about everyone's journey to living their best life.

    Hi Friends,

I'm Joann from Alberta, Canada. I'm 44 years old mom to a 10 year old daughter and 2 year old German Shepherd. Both my husband and I work full time and I"m doing online courses for my MPA, hoping to be finished my end of 2025. I love working out in the morning and walking the dog.
The first 3 weeks of October was great with my eating schedule and workouts. The last 10 days has been a struggle with my evening snacking and too many treats. Today was better and I know I'll get out of the small rut I was in.

What are your mini habits or mini goals for this month that will help you get where you are going?
My mini goal is to keep up with tracking. I love checking the box at the end of the day and it's a great motivator for me. I would love to see the scale move down but right now I'm happy to be maintaining .

What are you currently struggling with at the moment?
I've been struggling with stress and my reaction is eating sugar. It's a life long problem and something I at times go back to. I'm over my tense time right now and know that getting back to my habits will keep me moving forward.

Hi team, Ashley here, your co-captain of this lovely team alongside @lauren_989

I am 38 years old, living in Alberta, Canada, working full time in a stressful corporate job. I am married and my mother who has some health issues also lives with us. We have a dog, two cats, and my mom has a dog, so it's a full house.

I have always struggled with my weight and was an over-eater even when I was a child. However, I was involved in competitive sports until high school and that kept the weight off. Since high school, I have been struggling with my weight. In 2021 I hit a high of 293 and with the help of this group I lost 120 pounds. However, I had some job changes in late 2022 and I don't deal well with stress and slowly the weight has been coming back on.

My husband is also overweight and we share the same struggles. We like exercising but we find we lack the time and motivation to do so - excuses, but our reality... we are here and trying to figure out how to turn things around. I still try to aim for 10K steps a day and weight loss is always in the back of my mind but I have been fun and fancy free and not really trying for a while now, and it shows.

I will be recording steps for anyone interested... the step challenge is a bonus add on to this team and you can send me your steps and exercise minutes every Sunday for the week prior and I will track your progress within the team and against your own step target.

Struggling with binge eating, with setting healthy habits and sticking too them, with packing my schedule too full. Mini habits to focus on would be drinking my water, getting my 10K steps, and only eating when hungry.

What are your mini habits or mini goals for this month that will help you get where you are going?

I pray I’m able to use the tracker faithfully this month —I want to focus on 5 things

    Exercise 120 min 5 days a week
Water 64oz and up (really want 1/2 body weight -128oz)
Bible Plan (inner world creates outer/working on my spirit)
    Journal (mental/emotional/spiritual health)
    Declutter (environmental health)

What are you currently struggling with at the moment?
    Mindful eating and flexible thinking
Therefore this month, I’m going to press into community. I like the prompts (can you tag me when you do @lauren_989)

But I’m a middle aged married mom of two school aged boys in the Midwest. I teach a fitness class called Piyo once a week. An Apple Fitness+ user.
Been apart of this community since the beginning of this year. I’m here to see myself reach my end of the year goal.

Happy 1st Monday of November, I'm Vikki, 53, married, Baltimore, MD, I work full time at the office. I've been here off and on, since 2019 I think, OMG I've been here that long ?

I met my initial goal of 145 earlier this year (highest weight was 192), but now I am shooting for 135. I've had issues with my weight since turning 40ish, and I've tried everything, it is incredibly frustrating to know your eating right, and doing all the stuff you are supposed to and the scale just isn't moving, I mean don't get me wrong it moved, but then it moved right back. I think for me my key was the right HRT ( the 1st one, we believe made it worse), once I went on that the weight came off very easily, and it's stayed off for months now. I did cut back significantly on my alcohol consumption also, so that could also be one of my keys.

I have a cruise booked for mid Dec, so my goal is to get to 135 by then.

I am currently doing two challenges for myself, the 1st one is the Down Dog challenge, it's an app I use, and it has several modules, Yoga, Pilates, workout, and Barre. I just have to do one workout every day, and it's nice cause like Saturday, I did a long hike, so I just did restorative yoga.

I am also doing a Darebee program called Foundation, that is an everyday short workout focusing on strength, but with no equipment. I like that, but it has squats and lunges, and I am having issues with my knee, so squats are hard for me, but I am modifying and doing knee exercises instead.

I eat fairly well, as long as I don't bring snacks into the house, which I've been good about the past 2 weeks, I meal prep my lunches every sunday, although dinners can be hit or miss, last month was great because my husband was home, so we did normal meals. He's back out of town 4 days a week this month, so those nights, I kinda wing it cause I won't cook a full meal for myself.

    Have a great day !

Also - just saw your earlier post. You have a lot going on! Your Uncle should have addressed things with the assistant earlier. Stealing from the hotel is never good. I hope your uncle seriously addresses him. Come vent here anytime you need to!

We made it home from the hospital! Hubby is still decently groggy. I'm surprised how quick they send you home! He is not weight bearing on his left foot so using crutches, going upstairs (we have 4 into our house) was a nightmare. But he made it!! Definitely having him sleep on the couch unless he is more with it to go up to the second floor to our bed.

Happy November everyone! I will tell more about myself tomorrow as I have only a few minutes before I need to leave for bowling tonight.

@strong_fit_ells - that is a very stressful work situation and other stressors on top. I really hope your uncle talks to the assistant. You're family and have been with him for a long time. I hope he understands what a blessing that is!

@ashleycarole86 - I don't know how far back I need to go with my steps to count for November, so here is all of last week

Sunday, October 27 - 3,150 steps, 6 games of bowling (I forgot my watch until my husband brought it to me during my 4th game, so I should have a lot more steps)
Monday, October 28 - 6,713 steps, three games of bowling
Tuesday, October 29 - 6,236 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
Wednesday, October 30 - 4,580 steps, three games of bowling
Thursday, October 31 - 8,169 steps, 1 hour of pickleball
Friday, November 1 - 8,383 steps, 1.5 hours of pickleball
Saturday, November 2 - 9,019 steps, 2 hours of pickleball and 3 games of bowling
Sunday, November 3 - 5,063 steps, 6 games of bowling

Yesterday was a good day, did all my exercise, didn't eat the best, but it wasn't horrible, I just wasn't feeling cooking last night, so I had cereal for dinner. Tonight I will make chicken.

I did 1/2 of my exercise this morning, thats one good thing about the time change, so I just have to do pilates this evening.

    Have a great day !

    Hi Team 🤗

Thank you for your lovely comments and messages.
When I wrote that post and waaay overshared with you I was sad, angry, hormonal and a little drunk 🤦 The idea was to write the post, get it out of my system, read it to see if all of it makes sense and delete it straight away. The plan worked until the last bit when I fell asleep and couldn't delete it in time 🫣

The moral is don't start something if you don't want to deal with consequences 🤦🫣

I hate to say it as much as all the staff doesn't like the assistant - my uncle does.
I just want my uncle to be happy, the last thing I want to cause is his stress, so I am just going to admit defeat. I decided to stay in hotel. I will do my best to keep quiet and just get on with my job.
I will just wait and pick up the pieces when things go wrong and they most definitely will.

But most importantly I have to learn not to take things to heart and leave the work in hotel. I must switch off on the way home. Maybe play some motivational speaking on Spotify to bring me home in good mood? My travel home from hotel is about 15 minutes in a car.

So @lauren_989 can I please stay on our Team? ❤️
@ashleycarole86 can I please stay on Steppers Team? ❤️

I am really sorry again for oversharing 🥰

@strong_fit_ells - I am glad you are staying with the team!

It sounds like Monday was a good day for a lot of folks. Mine was decent. I exceeded my 6k step goal by over 1k. I did not make it to spin class, but did make it to bowling, and didn't drink anything. Dinner is what did me in. We did not plan ahead, and so my husband was left to make mac & cheese for us. Of course, I added bacon and peas to mine. And, I ate the entire box before bowling. I had such bad heartburn all night. blah.

My name is Jolene. I live in rural Colorado with my husband and three dogs. Growing up, I struggled with my weight and body image even though I was an athlete (primarily soccer). I've done the yo-yo thing most of my life, but an injury in 2013 to my hip is when I started to just yo upward. I joined this group summer of last year and saw great progress through October, but have slowly been gaining weight since then. I know it would be more if I wasn't part of this group, though.

My mini goals for the rest of this year are to drink at least 80 ounces of water/day and maintain 6k daily steps.

My struggles like usual have had to do with drinking and just going into this time of year. October, November, and December have been the time that a lot of people in my life have passed or other traumatic events have happened. So, getting through these months, especially without drinking can be hard.
