Check In: Hi Slimpossibles! Just wanted to let everyone know I did a tough thing today: I spent 30 minutes trying on my clothes and I am moving the clothes that do not currently fit out of my closet. Some I am keeping, some I am donating. I realized that sorting through clothes that don't fit on a daily basis just makes me feel really sad and ashamed. I don't need to beat myself up over it.

I did another tough thing and I exercised for 30 minutes! Felt great to take a shower afterwards.

@digger61 Praying that you will be able to receive a viable liver very soon!

@Katmary71 I Love the November bucket list! Poor Asher! I hope he feels better soon. I hope the PT goes well for your feet. :)

@laurelfit57 I do decorate early. I wasn’t, but the moment the time changed and it went dark and dreary, I needed my sparkle and lights! :) Going through all those family photo albums is a huge chore. How nice of you to contact your niece to share photos of her brother. I love that Vannie and Ty were sharing a yak stick! My Maggie would never share such a treasure. :D

@bobboyardee, Good for you cleaning out your closet and finding what to keep, save, and donate. I walk into mine often and think about doing that, but then I turn around and walk out. :D

@trooworld, I hope the sleep apnea mask will help. Do you worry about hating it on your face at night? I don’t think I could wear a mask the way I toss and turn all night. I know you're so tired of knee pain. Hopefully, once your surgery happens and the weight loss starts, you will feel better and maybe won’t have to have knee surgery, too. Look on Amazon for cheap but cute clothes. I’ve had to do that since I can’t fit into the fall/winter stuff I wore last year. :|

Good morning! I know I’ve been MIA, but I’ve been so busy. It’s budget planning time at the church, and I had to answer a bunch of questions for our finance committee. Then, the pastor called me and gave me a list of things to do. On top of all that, I’ve been decorating the house for Christmas. Today, I have to take Joe to the doctor, see if my glasses are finally in, go to Hobby Lobby for a few things to finish the decorating, and then go to Costco for turkeys and stuffing for Sunday’s potluck. I’m tired and just want to finish everything and start a new puzzle! :)

Question: U.S. friends: How are you going to handle Thanksgiving?

I start out by having a big church Thanksgiving potluck. This year, I’m making turkey and stuffing. For home, I don’t know what I will make. Maybe enchiladas. :D

I’m hopping back in to the conversations on page 3…

    @davors19 @Cornanda @sleepygirl79 @morenin – Nice losses!

@trooworld – So glad you don’t have to do PT anymore. Your days are so packed already! Love the photographs…especially black & white.

@baodell17724 – That sucks that the shots took you out like that. I hope you’re feeling better by now. That meme is scary! Hahahaha!

@morenin – I’m sorry I don’t have any words of wisdom…but hugs, thoughts and prayers during this rough time.

@Katmary71 – I’m so sorry with all the Asher issues. Let us know what root veggie recipe you pick out – my church is having our Thanksgiving potluck on Sunday and I haven’t figured out what I’m taking yet. I’d also love to know more about your herb salt gifts.

@digger61 – I am so sorry you have to continue waiting for a new liver. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

@askewcr – I’m so sorry you’re having all these pains. I hope the doctors can figure out the best way to take care of the disks so you can get your knee taken care of, too.

@laurelfit57 – Good job sorting through the basement. It’s wonderful that you’re able to send those photos to your niece. I’m sure she’ll cherish them.

@bobboyardee – Good job sorting clothes. I need to do that, too.

I had a fantastic weekend visiting my niece and her family in Colorado Springs AND I actually stayed within my calorie budget the entire time! I really do mimic people I’m around when it comes to food. They are a healthy family and I found myself eating appropriate amounts and not a bunch of snacking. For my last night there, her husband smoked portobellos on the grill. He used truffle oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic salt and salt and pepper. Slow and low for over an hour. We had sauted asparagus and a rice/quinoa blend on the side. Just before serving, my niece sprinkled on some black garlic finishing salt. Holy smokes, was it ever delicious! Here’s a picture of the Rocky Mountains from their driveway. So beautiful!

U.S. friends: How are you going to handle Thanksgiving?
The same way I’ve handled it for the past several years…I make stuffed acorn squash, roasted carrots and mashed taters. I eat it like any other meal…trying not to stuff myself.

Other countries: What tips do you have for our U.S. friends?

My brother likes to host Thanksgiving. I will bring harvest bread and pies. Probably apple, pumpkin and cherry/cranberry pies. No doubt he'll make each of us take a big plate of food home with us, and I usually divvy it up into smaller meals and freeze. If I have to bring home pie, I'll save a piece for Rich and bring the remainder to work to get rid of the extra.

Hi everybody. My new Trike will be here Thursday now, they keep moving the date. I did win First Place in the Halloween Ride Building contest. We have 3 contests a year and I think this is my fourth year winning first place in every contest. I love the trophies.

The power company is swapping out our wooden poles for metal ones, so the power is off today but we have a generator, so I don't need to worry about that.

My friend sent me 2 giant paints by number posters, the print so tiny even with my new glasses. I will give it a try, my husband mounted one onto a wooden board for me. After they are finished, I don't know what I will do with them.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

@laurelfit57 Interesting what you said to Chris, there's a big surge in chicken allergies with cats my gues would be it's the same with dogs too. I listened to a veteran about removing chicken and supplementing with Omega 3s which sounds similar to what worked for Ty. The winter stuff is going strong, I just harveted a bunch of kale, Swiss chard, and spinach for my soup. I agree with you it IS overwhelming to get behind here! What a wonderful gift you're giving to your niece! LOL seeing the pups hare like that too cute!

@bobboyardee Hi there! I like how you're thinking with the clothes, no more feeling bad when you go in your closet. You're crushing the hard things today!

@trooworld I really hope the sleep apnea mask improves your sleep so you can get better rest. I can't imagine commuting so far on little sleep. I'm glad you have some clothes to get you through to surgery. Tough call on whether or not to get anything now.

HOW ARE YOU GOING TO HANDLE THANKSGIVING?
I have a friendsgiving this week and it's with the functional medicine practitioner so everything will be healthy which is a relief. For Thanksgiving we're going to my mom's friend's house and I'll probably just eat a little of everything then get back to it. I did get a turkey breast for me to have at home since I won't have leftovers from Thanksgiving.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you! Very busy day I hope you get everything done! You need a good night to work on a puzzle with the cold weather settling in!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Here's the Roasted Balsamic Roasted Root Veggieshttps://everydayfamilyeats.com/balsamic-roasted-root-veggies/: I'm doubling it and just using it as a guide but will go by taste for the herbs. I picked up a turnip, fennel, golden beets, and kohlrabi to add in it and the cashier had no clue what they were so it was a long checkout between those and other veggies then the bulk bin dried fruit and seeds. Thank you I'm hoping Asher's better soon. How nice to be around a healthy family! Yum I want to go there and eat! Beautiful photo of the mountains.

@FushiaKat Woohoo I hope you're able to ride the trike Thursday! Congratulations on winning the contest! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi friends! Made it to PT this morning, I'll have to do the exercises twice a day which will be a pain. I'm going to do a short workout after dinner as I didn't have time to earlier. I have ham and bean soup with kale cooking and it smells delicious. I have to do some HOA stuff tonight so my plan is catch up here, bath, soup, then a pot of tea while reviewing a bunch of paperwork, Have a great Wednesday!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Here's the recipe I'll probably go with for my salt herb gifts, I picked up Ball jars yesterday and the salt just came then I'll harvest from my garden and add garlic: https://youtu.be/szuHTqkRt74?si=mQbKYuSOAJaOwzWk

@trooworld that's a great idea to look on Meetup, I will try it this weekend. Isn't it funny how much we have to look after our little fur babies, I swear sometimes they are more complicated than human babies🤣. I missed that you were getting a sleep apnoea mask, when my son got his, it took him a while to get used to it. He actually switched from the original mask and now says it makes a huge difference. Do you have a definitive date for your surgery yet? I know I don't have to catch up, it's in my crazy head.

@Teresaw2024 I would find your job with the church so stressful, good for you! Seriously Teresa do you guys have a potluck every weekend lol

@Vegan4lyfe2012 It sounds like you had a great time in Colorado Springs, good on you for keeping within your calorie budget! It is always so helpful when you are with people who have a healthy lifestyle and of course it's always lovely to have somebody else do the cooking! It looks absolutely gorgeous there!! Good for you losing when you were away

@Fushiakat Fingers crossed for you that your trike will actually arrive Thursday!

@katmary71 it seems that more and more dogs have allergies nowadays as well. I hear more and more people taking their dogs off chicken and it does the trick. My vet actually gave Ty the omega threes and it didn't do the trick, it was my groomer who told me about the coconut oil, honestly I wasn't that hopeful when I tried it, but it seemed to do the trick. With our fur babies we just have to keep trying to get it right :-). I also was supposed to be doing exercises from PT twice a day over this last week. It was such a crazy week, I'm afraid I didn't even manage once a day all the time. I'm usually pretty good about it. I'm sure you will do better at it than I did.

I am afraid I did not get down to my basement at all today, nor did I get any pictures sorted. I haven't slept well the last few nights and seem to be dragging my heels today. I actually took a Tylenol nighttime tonight, see if I can get back on track.
I did not make it to the gym today but got lots of exercises in with the dog. Had a late night class with the dogs didn't make it home until after eight. Vannie and Ty sharing that yak stick was hilarious. when I first got high I never in 1 million years would have thought that was possible. Then he still gets after her, she is the big sister in charge, but for the most part they get along great.
It is almost 10 o'clock and I have to get to bed so I hope everybody had a great day today

I'm a widower since 2001. From 2001 - 2017 I'd still cook just myself "a full-turkey dinner and all the trimmins". Since my MS diagnosis in 2018, that's too difficult. Since 2020 a local church brings residents here a full 2-servings of a Thanksgiving Dinner each which they drop-off at each of our apartments. It's quite good, so I will do that, again. EXCEPT, THIS year I will ration out all the "fat foods" over the whole week, and definitely make sure I get more than my 2 hours of exercise in each day during that time!!!

@vegan4lyfe2012 I’m so glad you had a great time in Colorado with your niece and her family! I lived in Denver when I was a teenager, and I know how beautiful the Rocky Mountains are. Good job on eating healthy and staying in your calorie range. :)

@FushiaKat, Congratulations on winning first place in the contest! That is awesome, and with all the hard work you put into it, you must feel amazing. :) It is great that you have a generator, so you don’t have to stress about not having power. I used to love doing paint-by-numbers when I was a kid. I have looked at that diamond art and thought about trying it out, but puzzles own my heart. :D

@Katmary71 ham and bean soup sounds wonderful! Making flavored salts is such a great gift idea! How many will you end up making? :)

@laurelfit57 It sure feels like we have a potluck every week. :# The goal is to have something once a month for our people, and I sure wish it didn’t revolve around potlucks! Our Thanksgiving potluck is the big one that gets the most people coming out, so it should be fun and a lot of work for us who have to organize and clean up. I hope you start sleeping better! <3

@trooworld Oh, that mask might not be so bad. I was worried you would have to wear that full face mask. I’m sorry you are feeling a little depressed. You have a lot going on, and the surgery has to be all-consuming in your mind. Be good to yourself and tell people to leave you alone. ;)

Good morning! Joe and I had a nice day out yesterday, but he got too tired to finish everything I wanted to do and had to come home for a nap. This morning, my sister and I are returning to Hobby Lobby for a few things I still want and then to Costco for turkey and side dishes for the potluck. Then, I will come home and mop the floors. One of my problems is that I LOVE glitter, and most of my Christmas has it, so the cleanup is a pain. I looked at Joe yesterday at lunch, and he had glitter on his nose! :D I’m making chili and cornbread for dinner tonight, so that will be yummy! Y’all have a great day! :)

@laurelfit57 Do you mix the coconut oil in food? It’s tough cutting out chicken, you’d be surprised how many other flavors have chicken liver or something in them. Not surprising both dogs and cats are struggling with chicken, all you have to do is see the state of the on sale chicken breasts to know they’re giving those poor animals unnatural stuff to grow so big. I hope you get to those PT exercises! A tip since I had to do stuff 2vs a day a day after surgery- Do the morning ones then if you don’t get to the second time at least you did them once.
@baodell17724 What an awesome church to bring two servings of Thanksgiving dinner. That’s one of the downfalls at not making it yourself is no leftovers. Your way you get to not be exhausted, keep the house clean, and enjoy a little each day with how you’re spreading it out.
@trooworld Your response to Teresa made me laugh I’m claustrophobic too and don’t mind the two prong one but was thinking I’d probably wake up confused about the other masks and have a panic attack if I had to use one especially the first week or two. It’s bad enough with the dentist works on me, hahaha. I have a vision of you “really letting loose” this Thanksgiving with a piece of pie in each hand! Hugs I hope this mild depression lets up.

@TeresaW2024 On the salts I’m not sure how many I’ll do, I bought a 12-pack of Ball jars but have a bunch more too. I may do a trial run with basil since I just harvested a bunch then for gifts I’ll do a Mediterranean blend. Have fun at Hobby Lobby and Costco! Hey if you see any jar labels that are cute at Hobby Lobby let me know (probably missed ya though). Yum enjoy that dinner I’ve been craving cornbread.
Hi friends! On early as I have a board meeting tonight. I went to the farm this morning and got in two rows of Bok Choy. Ran to Dollar Tree looking for jar labels with no luck and just finished my HOA stuff. I have some board stuff to do before the meeting catching up on emails and proposals. It’s gloomy and ugly outside looks like it’ going to rain at any time. Hope you all have a great Wednesday and Thursday!

@Trooworld oh wow! That is a bit torturous, surgery just a few days just before Christmas😳. But you are right, what a kick off to 2025!! That must have been a shocking way to wake up🤣. It is so good that you are so self aware with your mental health♥️

@trooworld your potlucks actually sound really good and like a lot of fun! It Forest surprise me at all that you like glitter!

@katmary71 that never ended occurred to me snout what they are doing to chicken, that makes sense. Ty actually just eats the coconut oil this is what I use https://a.co/d/0mhcDui. Vannie is not a fan but Ty really likes it. I will definitely try to get those exercises done first thing, I have been forcing myself before bed but not getting all of them done.

I did get a good sleep last night but I still seem to be dragging my heels. I'm afraid that I was so involved in my basement that my food was all off today and ended up starving by 5 then I over ate😩
    Tomorrow is a new day

@Katmary71 Yup you missed me! :D I’m sure they do have cute jar labels. Or try looking on Etsy for something unique.

@trooworld I am so sorry your husband isn’t as supportive as you need. I hope you can change his mind and he will realize that having his support and care is very important. And if he won’t, you will have to do what needs to be done. The most important thing is taking care of yourself and protecting your emotions. <3

Good morning! It’s cold and rainy today, and I’m so happy I don’t have to go out. I had a fun day yesterday shopping with my sister. We went to Hobby Lobby, Costco, lunch at Chick-fil-A, Marshalls, and then back to Hobby Lobby for a giant snowman I couldn’t get out of my mind and heart. <3 Today, I will finish cleaning up the house and mop the floors. I will take some pics later and show them off tomorrow. :)

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: WHAT DO YOU NEED TO VENT ABOUT? There's something serious going on with the charity I don't even want to get into we had a heated board meeting last night, I started to and deleted it. Meanwhile I ordered 70 plus pound of cat litter to change all the litter in the house from one that may be causing allergies and it's two days late and hasn't even left the warehouse yet.

@laurelfit57 Thank you for the coconut oil recommendation I saved it to a list. I'm not sure if I can get Asher to eat it for the most part he doesn't like treats.

@askewcr Oh good I'm glad you're feeling better!

@trooworld Hugs I'd be upset too. I love the gift of butterfly earrings what a sweet co-worker!
I'm sorry the depression isn't lifting I hope it does soon.

@TeresaW2024 I DID miss @TeresaW1020, haha and am glad you came back! Wow that's a serious shopping spree glad you got the snowman and good luck with the cleaning. Almost decorating time!

Hi team! We had a late and stressful board meeting last night, still debating how I'm going to handle things. The Friendsgiving went well and my roasted veggies were a hit. I have enough for another sheet to roast in the fridge so I'll be eating them for awhile. I made basil/lemon zest/garlic salts, they're in the oven now. Unfortunately I think I broke my food processor right before I was going to make a bunch of salts which will make doing a big batch a pain! Have a great Friday friends.

@trooworld - I would be upset about that too.

@Katmary71 - I hope that things work out with the charity- doesn't sound fun. I hope Asher is on the mend soon. Am interested to hear how the salts turn out.

@TeresaW2024 - a snowman that captured your heart.... :) And glitter always shows up in weird places after I decorate too

I don't have a lot of time, so I'll quit there. Going for a little lunch and holiday shopping with DD tomorrow. Really looking forward to it.

Venting: My hip is doing pretty good but every time I try to add the full amount of step aerobics back into my routine, it acts up again. I've tried multiple things like slower speed, less risers, no step at all etc. I just took two weeks off and now I'm trying again. I really don't want to give this up as it's the cardio I really love- learning the routine keeps my mind active so I'm not thinking about how long it will be until I am done. :) PS: I am still doing my PT exercises- at least 4 times a week- which was recommended when I was discharged.

@Cornanda Thank you I hope things work out too. The salts actually came out pretty well I did two cloves of garlic, 1 lemon's worth of zest, basil, and sea salt. My food processor is on the fritz though o that's throwing a monkey wrench into my Christmas making salts plans but I love how the batch came out. How frustrating about your hip I hope you're able to ease back into it.

@trooworld Well shoot maybe you need to throw the Friendsgiving?! I don't really have enough friends to throw one myself. I'm planning on cooking with the salts to eee if they'd make good gifts. Yum enjoy the ravioli!

@TeresaW2024 I love your decorating your house looks great!

Hi team! Worked out, went to the store, then worked until a little while ago. My neighbor invited me to go see their friend's band so I need to get dressed up and have some coffee. I really hate going places as night! Luckily it's only a couple miles away, figure I'll go for a little and come home I'm real tired and tomorrow we're cleaning up the community beds.
