A1C is 14, in my 30s

I have an A1C of 14 and need help in getting it down. Any suggestions. Today I cut out bread and drink water. I've also been doing the Caroline Jordan 10 minute workout everyday, but these area low impact exercises so I'm not sure if they are doing anything. I am 30 so I think I still have some time left to improve. Is there anyone who was able to get their A1C down after it being so high. Not really concerned with losing weight so much as I am concerned with getting it down. I heard weight lifting helps too.

    Mine was 13.5 (13.4 maybe) at diagnosis in 2016. I went on metformin and a diet. I never had a BG reading below 200 until I cut carbs. I finally got my A1C down in the low 5's. I went off the metformin in 2018 and have been managing the BG with diet since.

    I did not find personally that exercise seemed to have any impact. I tried intermittent fasting and that did not seem to do anything for me either. HOWEVER everyone responds differently.

    I would monitor things to figure out how your body is responding to diet changes and exercise or you are just guessing and waiting for validation with the next A1C.

    FOR ME: it was simple issues. Carbs no more than 30 for a snack and 100 for a meal. Sugar: ZERO ADDED. Yes my coffee sucks but so does being sick. And No Artificial Sweetness or soda. As far as bread etc goes. Killing an entire food group is not sustainable to long term success. I allow 2 slices a day and I choose if its breakfast or Lunch. Moderation is your biggest challenge. My A1C was 16 and is now 7.5 nine months later with NO drugs except good old insulin at mealtime. Youre going to hear this a lot (I did) its all gonna be on you. We will give you the tools and the data. YOU have to decide each day what you do with them. Good Luck and friend me if you need help! Lee
