Good morning Shape Shifters. Weather wasn't really great again. We got a lot of snow in a 20 minute window. When it was dry, I biked to the grocery store for the last stuff I needed for my mom's visit. It didn't seem slippery because the snow was fresh. It all went fine; I biked to the store, I biked home and then it went wrong when I was literally in front of my house. My bike slipped out from under me and I ended up on the ground. I banged up my knees and left shin pretty badly. Nothing serious, just bruises and swelling. Guess I should have been more careful. I considered walking to the store at first, but I needed quite a bit and didn't think I could carry it all. Oh well. I couldn't walk with my mom because the weather was so bad. Even though I was in quite a bit of pain, I still got all my steps done because I didn't think sitting still and getting all stiff would be good. Walking is alright, bending my legs too much is very painful so stairs are a lot of fun right now. I will not be doing any workouts at home for a while, so I really hope we can walk today.
I cooked food for us which had a lot of calories because of the cashew nuts so I had to cut out some other things I normally eat, but it went fine and I wasn't struggling thankfully. We listened to music and just relaxed and talked in the evening. I also showed my mom the horse game I have been playing. She could understand why I loved it. :) Happy Friday everyone <3

@Pupowl Oh no!! I'm glad you weren't hurt too badly, bike crashes are no fun. I have never ridden in the snow, I am very much a fair weather rider. I did crash into the back end of a parked car once. LOL Not fun!! I was also blown off my bike by a US Navy F-18 coming in for a landing. I was able to get me feet down and luckily wasn't hurt. It was the shock more than anything as they have one heckuva jet wash. Anywho...hope you aren't too stiff and can enjoy your visit with your mom.

Been sick most of this week with terrible fatigue and a cough that started three weeks ago. I think it's improved slightly, but my energy has been really low.

    Take care, everyone.

@Pupowl I’m glad you’re okay. I don’t think I have mentioned it before but one of my goals is to get back on my omafiets this upcoming spring. I got it when I was fortunate enough to live in the Netherlands (Hulsberg) for a few years in the late 90’s. Seeing your photos and reading your posts always seems to spark wonderful memories. I hope you have a great visit with your Mom and can continue the steady progress you have been making.

Quick question- with Black Friday coming up, I’m considering getting an Apple Watch. I currently have a Fitbit Charge 5 but it’s a couple years old and it seems like I always have to replace them every few years anyway. I like it well enough but since I’m already in the apple ecosystem, I’m wondering if I would like an Apple Watch better. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

@DaffyGirl88 Thanks! Biking in the snow can be alright when it is fresh. I think I landed in a section where cars already went over & it was a corner. So yeah. I will definitely think twice about biking next time there is snow. I actually did the same thing; crash into a parked car, lol. Gotta admit I was a lot younger (like 9) and thought I could bike with my eyes closed.
@p8m6bwghh9 Thank you! I hope you can enjoy biking soon. You have a lot of snow now right? I love our Dutch bikes, though mine is electric because I am lazy. I am happy to hear you enjoy my posts.
@frankwbrown Missing your steps for the 17th and 18th! Awesome job on the hike, take it easy today. <3

Good morning Shape Shifters. We got pretty lucky with the weather yesterday morning. It was really nice outside and the sun even showed up. The roads weren't clean so we had to walk a bit careful, but it all went fine. I didn't bring my phone, so I don't have pictures, sorry! We walked for around 90 minutes. My right knee was a little painful, but not so bad I didn't enjoy myself.
After we warmed up and had some tea, we finished the puzzle I had on my table for a while. It was halfway done and I just didn't feel like sitting down and completing it. It wasn't the easiest one, but with two people working on it, it went fairly quick. Tinus really wanted some laptime so he got an hour before I made dinner. I got my gym rings workout done and the rest of the evening we played Rummikub. Happy Saturday everyone <3

It was one of those days where between work and the weather I just didn't get out much. Today is supposed to be sunny though. 🌞

@cre804 I have several friends with Apple watches and they love them. At the time that I left Fitbit, I chose to go with Garmin because their prices were better and they have a big emphasis on challenges and badges, which I love. Nothing negative on the Apple watch, I just couldn't afford it. Great time of year to buy one, but I suggest you look at Garmin...they run great sales as well and I bet they're doing one for Black Friday...keep us posted on what you end up getting...would love to see a picture of it!

@pupowl So now both of us Captains are having left knee issues! Wow...I hope your pain isn't as heavy as mine has been...thankfully, I have nearly 90% of my range of motion back...that makes a big difference. So sorry about your fall...I hope you bounce back quickly...just rest, ice it, elevate it as much as you can...
