@morenin I'm sorry so much is going on. Are you staying fairly low carb as far as your blood sugar goes? Could you have lost enough that your A1C is lower? Hypoglycemia sucks and is super frustrating when trying to lose as you HAVE to eat something. Good call on the appointments to get yourself back on track, way to go on being proactive!

My A1C is in fact lower, it went from close to diabetes in pre-diabetic to normal. I'm not watching my carbs but I am trying to eat more fiber and keep sugar down.

My Bike did not arrive last week, it's now scheduled for tomorrow. They could not find our address last Friday; I think the driver was just lazy we get stuff here all the time without any issues.

For Thanksgiving I'm going to eat roasted chicken from Sam's club and have my usual snacks. Sam's club has ApplePears, it's a new favorite fruit of mine. It's a cross between an Apple and a Pear, I love the texture. I like mine peeled and sliced. I eat that with a pack of breakfast biscuits for my afternoon snack.

I hope everybody has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

How do you balance enjoying holiday treats with staying on track toward your fitness goals?

I set specific goals for fitness, and set specific limits for holiday treats. If there's a party, I have a game plan for staying within my calories. Choose the healthiest options, especially if the food doesn't really matter to me. There are some favorite foods, and I plan for them and use portion control - and then savor every bite.

@FushiaKat Oh those ApplePears sound wonderful! I need to get over to Sams ASAP and see if we have them. :)

@trooworld That chili looks so good! I hope you can figure out how to use the CPAP machine to help you sleep well. I would rather stab myself in the eye than go to Walmart and Sams during the day on a weekend before Thanksgiving. Get those groceries ordered and pick them up!! Good luck to you! :D

Good morning! I mentioned how I didn’t work out last week because I was so busy decorating the house and doing other stuff. I don’t know if I mentioned how bad my feet hurt daily. They were swollen and so painful that I was popping my mom’s pain pills and shopping for new shoes! Yesterday, I did 20 minutes of jumping on the rebounder, and my feet were great last night. This morning, there is no pain or swelling. So, I learned a lesson, and I know now that jumping isn't something to neglect. :)

How do you balance enjoying holiday treats with staying on track toward your fitness goals?

I’m not the best at balancing the holidays! :D I do plan to continue with my workouts and try to remember that the holiday is ONE day and not a whole week. Since I’m only feeding three people this season, I plan to limit my eating to the day of the holiday and not drag it out by overbuying too much food. Hopefully, that will help! :p

@Katmary71 – I enjoyed that video of flavored salts. Now I’m not sure if I want to do that for Christmas, or vanilla sugar. My vanilla Mother jar is about 3 years old, so it’s ready. So many choices! I hope everything with the charity works out.

@trooworld – I’m really sorry your husband let you down. Hopefully when the time gets closer he’ll have a change of heart.

@TeresaW2024 – Jack McFlurry is hilarious and all your decorations are lovely!

    @baodell17724 – Sorry you’ve been sick.

@DrewsAnna – What gorgeous mountains! Where are they?

    @morenin – Hugs.

We found out yesterday that baby Amelia’s heart issue isn’t as dire as we thought. She has aortic stenosis. She’ll still need surgery when she’s a few days old, but it should just be the one surgery…not the 3 we thought. There’s a possibility that she may need a replacement valve in the future, but I have a cousin that is almost 60 years old that has had several since birth, so we know it’s not a death sentence. Thank you for your continued prayers!

I’ve been trying to stay on track since I’ve been back from vacation. Doing better than usual, but not as good as I’d like. I decided to forego the potluck at church this past Sunday since there’s rarely anything vegan unless I make it and bring it. When I got to church, one of the ladies told me that the pie she made was vegan. I thanked her, but told her we weren’t staying. Lord knows I don’t need pie. Anyway, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving on the Saturday after because all of my children and grandchildren will be available 😊 Very happy for that!

I am on vacation up in the Smokey Mountains and will not be back until late Friday night. Can I weigh Saturday morning? Not sure what it will be because hubby an I have enjoyed ourselves. I have to renew my commitment. B)

@vegan4lyfe2012 That is good news about Amelia’s heart. It's still very scary, and I will be praying that the surgery she will have will go smoothly and that she won’t require another one. <3

@trooworld I think rebounding definitely helps the swelling in my feet, which is probably a massive contributor to the pain. All the swelling is gone this morning, and I have no foot pain. :) That is a relief for you that you will at least go to the stores early and beat those crowds!

Good morning! We had a staff meeting last night, and they decided that our homeschool group should hand out candy and a double-sided card inviting people to church and the Christmas Eve service. Of course, this card has to be created and ordered today! I got up at 6 a.m. and made something they will hopefully approve soon so I can get it ordered! In a perfect world, my church people would stop doing big things at the last minute. It makes my head explode!! :#

    Good morning Slimpossibles!

It's not going to be much of an exercise day today. We are finally getting some rain. Hopefully it will be enough to alleviate the drought, but there's a lot of leaf litter on the ground, and that's going to absorb a LOT of water before the water can get to the soil. But even if it only soaks the leaf litter, at least the fire danger will be mitigated.

Normally I would work at getting some indoor workouts today, but I'm just not feeling that great today. I think I will take a rest day.

@micaroo4 Have a great rest day! I love how close Rich is getting with Cathy it's always pretty fascinating from a nature vs. nurture perspective how much siblings that didn't grow up together are alike. Some of the twins separated at birth who live identical lives fascinate me!

@TeresaW2024 Oh no hope your card is approved and ordered soon! Hahaha I hate last minute stuff too and it seems like you go through the trouble to make it all then someone wants a tiny detail changed that takes forever. Wishing you luck and patience! I had to laugh at you saying how puffy you are after the pies, I can't believe how bloated I get from one night of a “normal” dinner it's pretty depressing. That's awesome the rebounding is helping your feet so much! I'm in PT now for my feet and can already tell the way I was walking was making things worse as I wasn't using my big toes. I'd think rebounding would get all the muscles moving and would help strengthen the feet a lot. You all are going to get me to save for one!

@trooworld Good question I remember the chili being more green than photos of Chili Colorado, I'll ask her about it. I hope the consultant video helps. Any chance that machine is on YouTube? Maybe you can get some tips but then your appt is tomorrow so not too far. That chili looks delicious!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Oh you have to fill me in on how you do vanilla with a mother, is it like kombucha? I'm fascinated now! I remember talking about it before with you but blanking on how you do it. Thank goodness Amelia's heart issue isn't as bad still sending lots of prayers to all of you. I'm happy you'll be celebrating with everyone on Saturday, you have a lot of little ones to be thankful for right now!

HOW DO YOU BALANCE ENJOYING HOLIDAY TREATS WITH STAYING ON TRACK TOWARD YOUR FITNESS GOALS? I'm not super balanced and tend to gain weight in December. I try to avoid stuff I can have any time like Hershey kisses and enjoy some of the Christmas cookies or things we only have once a year. Fitness goals aren't a problem it's the diet that is, I'm good at staying on track with exercise.

@morenin Are you on diabetes medication? You may need to reduce it or top. I had that problem for awhile too when I was still on medication but was back in “normal” mode again.

@FushiaKat I hope you're happily riding around when you read this! That IS frustrating you've been so excited. Oh my folks go to Sam's Club I'm going to ask them to grab some ApplePears! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Kat. :)

@lisalisa123 You're doing awesome keep up the great work!

Hi friends! I thought I got on to post the weigh in update last night but forgot I got a call as soon as I started. Have a lot of stressful stuff going on and trying to figure out how to get through it. I may have found a roommate depending on how meeting each other goes, I need to get the house clean the next few days. The farm did a spotlight on volunteers and I ended up being the only main volunteer left out and I wasn't asked. I told my neighbor who volunteers there too (I got her going) and she mentioned to the manager I was never asked (I told her not to say anything about my feelings being hurt) and today the marketing team went to the greenhouse (I stayed home as the storm is causing bad pain and I didn't want to be emotional when I'm mad). I didn't want attention because someone said something I would prefer not to be invisible and not be left out of the volunteers that matter to the farm. I don't do it for a pat on the back but being left out and everyone ELSE being recognized in the group but me sucks. So the greenhouse volunteers raved about me this morning from what I heard and now the marketing person reached out and I feel like a dork, I hate being on camera and I know the gang this morning is trying to make up for it so I'm hoping we can just do a non-filmed interview. Charity I've decided I'm going to have to resign soon, my co-captain is planning on resigning too. Praying the president surprises us with an interest in cleaning up her sloppy business practices but she's too busy dreaming of new events. I'm real close with her mom but I think I'm going to lose multiple friends over this. Food is so-so right now but having great workouts! Have a great Friday team.

@Katmary71 Well, you know I will NOT stop you from saving for a rebounder! :D Your post hurt my heart! :( I am so sorry that you are going through so much stress right now, and what happened with the volunteer spotlight sucks!! I’ve been there, and it hurts, but you know those people appreciate you so much. And I am sorry that you will have to resign from the charity, but there have been issues for a long time. There are so many places that would be thrilled to have you as part of their team, and I hope you can find a way to give back without causing yourself so much stress. A new roommate will be great IF the person isn’t a weirdo like your last guy. I will be praying for you, my friend! <3

@trooworld Over the last ten years, I've observed that all pastors do things at the last minute. They try to plan, but they also love their great last-minute ideas, and the poor secretary (that’s me!) must adjust and make the dream happen. Fortunately for them, I am very good at my job! :D I agree that moving your surgery date up wouldn’t be a good idea, considering it’s such short notice. I get the need to mourn the food. I think that is not only expected but completely normal. You need this time to process and get your mind ready for what is about to happen. And it will be hard but also so great once you fully embrace the new you! :)

Good morning! My invite card was approved with only a few modifications before I could order it. The nice thing is that the pastor loves most of my graphics, which helps alot. My last pastor was super picky but never knew exactly what he wanted. I used to tell him that he didn’t pay me enough to be a mind reader! :D Today’s plan is to work out, pick up the invite cards, wash my car, and do laundry. For dinner, I’m making a pizza pasta bake. Joe will be so happy! Y’all have a great day! :)

Leaving you out of the volunteer spotlight really sucks. And then trying to make up for it seems worse; it just drives home the fact that you were overlooked. Sorry you are resigning from the charity. I'm sure you can find a charity that would appreciate your contribution and possibly cause less stress - but they really do all seem fraught with internal dramas and mismanagement 😕 I hope the roommate works out.

I have only got a white screen all week. Every time I come on I to accept cookies. It’s getting ridiculous. I have cancelled my subscription. Losing the feed was ridiculous but it’s just one thing after the next.

I am still here though. I have had wedding after wedding this last month. They have been close friends children getting marries, so it’s been busy but so nice. I am done and ready to catch up on my daily things.

I hope everyone is doing well.

@AmbersWay I'm happy to see you! Oh weird on the white feed on here. Yeah I really miss our feed here, a lot of friends went to LoseIt but I can't get into logging regularly over there for some reason. I'm glad you're still here!

@trooworld How did the consult go? Thank you! I agree with you on waiting and not taking the earlier dates. You're making changes for the better but it's still a big change and I think mentally preparing is smart.

@TeresaW2024 Thank you. There HAVE been issues with the charity for a long time. It's reminding me a lot of the functional medicine clinic where all the people but the owner were great and the owner's toxicity was ruining everything. Thank you I'll figure out something similar to what I'm doing now with another charity. Once I resign I'd have the time to be the garden club secretary but I think I want to spend a few months being able to read. Woohoo glad your cards went over well! That dinner sounds amazing!

@micaroo4 Thank you I've heard that about charities! I honestly never would've thought I'd end up on the board of one to be honest. It did suck with the farm, I can't recall if I explained how the farm is kind of separate from the food bank where the marketing team at the food bank isn't privy to who's who at the farm. Still stinks though.

Hi team! Had a good day but pain's real bad from the weather. My micro current batteries died at work too so I was white-knuckling it the last two hours. The co-captain and I from the charity program put our heads together to write a letter stating we couldn't vote on an issue regarding an event when the bigger picture is the charity is violating one of the rules by our actions and the board needs to understand their personal liability in continuing. I'm waiting for the response just in case it triggers some responsibility but I doubt it It feels good that we did that we've been sweating it as we both love the group but feel we have to do what's right. I have the interview with the farm marketing woman in the morning so I'd better get to bed. Have a great Saturday!

@TeresaW2024 - Your pastor is lucky to have you. I'm glad he likes your work- that definitely helps with the last minute stuff. Where do you get cards printed so quick? Of course you have a resource for that because it happens all the time! :)

@vegan4lyfe2012 - Glad to hear baby Amelia's heart is doing better than what was expected. What a relief!

@katmary71- I do feel for you with all the charity drama. It's not fun, and volunteering should be enjoyable, yes? It seems odd to me that the food bank people don't know who's growing their food. You are such a whiz at that. Hopefully everything will get sorted out.

@trooworld - I get it about the mourning. Your life will be very different after the surgery. Working through those feelings is the right thing to do.

We have new neighbors next door. They have 5 kids! Our neighborhood has aged- as have I lol. It's nice to see kids tearing up and down the road on bikes and scooters again. I need to go over and say hi.

@Katmary71 I’m sorry you had to white-knuckle through your pain. Carrying extra batteries might be a good idea. ;) That is great that you and the co-captain did what you felt was right concerning the charity. Do you think things can turn around so you can stay? Can you all vote the captain out? I’m sure you will continue doing the right thing, and taking time off just to read and care for yourself sounds perfect! :)

@Cornada My pastor is lucky to have me! :D I got the cards printed at the UPS Store. They print super fast, but I paid an extra $15 to ensure I had next-day printing for these cards. I like that you are happy to have neighbors who have kids. We have very few kids in our neighborhood. There are just lots of dogs that Maggie Mae loves to bark at. Switching up your diet is always good for keeping the body guessing.

Good morning! Joe got up and got dizzy at 4:30 a.m., which had me flying out of bed to help him get back into bed. Needless to say, I was wide awake after that and finally got up at 6 a.m. to start the day. Fortunately, I don’t have much going on today. :/ Tomorrow afternoon, my sister and I will help decorate the church. I don’t really want to go and help, but they need a leader who has decorated the sanctuary before. My plan is to groom my sister to be the decorating leader, and I can quietly walk away. :)

ICE BREAKER QUESTION (multi-part): If you shop for Christmas, have you started yet? Do you shop in-person, or online? If you shop in person, do you shop in the local (downtown) shops?

I have people to buy for, but I haven't started shopping. I may make food gifts, but there will still be people that I'll have to buy for that don't live close enough to deliver a food item. I may shop online, but will probably do most of my shopping in-person. I like the downtown area, so I'll probably start with the local shops before venturing to the big stores.

BUT I felt terribly guilty afterwards, and then I felt the need to fast the next day when the scale "yelled 227.2 lbs!!!" at me, and keep to 500 calories the next 2 days after that!!! Binging is not worth that pressure, believe me, to get back on track! Did manage to lose a pound, though. And now I'm prepared to be good on Thanksgiving Day!)

I had a great time with hubby up in the Smokey Mountains. The trees were beautiful and the resort we stayed at was super nice. There was a threat for snow but it didn't happen.

The change of scenery did us both good. Self help...yes. :)

New knee surgery date is December 26th. I want to get it done this year. Blessings!!

    Let's go get it! B)
