Rise and shine.
Church this morning, then my grand piano debut -- playing chords for Christmas carols for kids in the town library. Been practicing overtime since Thursday rehearsal, but thank goodness there's also an organist and bell ringers who can drown me out. I'm wearing a Snoopy Santa hat and colorful sweater and scarf; maybe nobody will recognize me.
Bill, hope you get relief and resolution quick. Steve, stay off the ice.
Have a good Sunday.0 -
Good morning!
We had a wonderful day yesterday at the Wildlife Reserve, even with the large crowds that we were not expecting. The weather was perfect. We saw thousands of geese, and dozens of eagles. For some reason, we missed seeing a lot of ducks, so we'll have to go back.
Today will be about only doing a few little things, and then the Chiefs are on Sunday Night Football.
Have a great day!0 -

Good Morning,
Water heater went out yesterday and could not get a plumber, so DS and I got water heater and started installing. Our Lowe's does not carry gas heaters so had to go to Athens to pick one up. No help in Athens other than point as to where heaters were in back of store. After getting home taking old heater out, 19 years old, nothing fits new heater. 5 trips to Lowe's in town as they were closing, we got enough pieces to jerry rig heater where we have hot water this morning. I've gotten too old for this.
Would more than likely skip church this morning but I had agreed to lead Sunday school class so it's off I go.
Younger folks in neighborhood decided to take down American flay from pole and install Christmas lights. Some older folks very upset, called yesterday wanting me to meet them to have a large force to force taking lights down. My suggestion is put flag back up and string lights just under flag out to edge of landscaping. Old farts were so bull headed would not yield, tension in neighborhood.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Full day with the grandkids, yesterday - and more to come today. It is a testament to my love opf these kids, that I watched a Harry Potter movie rather than the Ducks' game. I did have the latter streaming silently on my laptop, and I recorded it for later viewing. Today, they are both staying for cookie decorating after church, then I need to drive DGD to a birthday party, pick up DGS and DW at the church, then pick up DGD from the party. Lots of driving back and forth.
Loved the wildlife photos, Steve. I see bald eagles frequently, here. I think there is a nesting pair along the river a half mile from us. After their near extinction in the '60s, seeing them now is always a thrill.
Hope the antibiotics do the trick, Bill.
We have a 22-year-old gas water heater that is plugging along on our prayers, Sam. I don't believe I could install a replacement, should it fail.0 -
Luv it Mike. My DW is one of those bell ringers in church.
I too took a pict of a Bald Eagle from yesterday's bike ride but at a distance w my cell phone so not as pretty as Steve's. WOW those geese are amazing!!!!
WOW Sam that suxxx about the water heater. Our water heater outfit did ours on short notice with no fuss.
Ducks were good enough to win the Big Ten. Ducks were great at times too. Penn State was too keyed up in the beginning and made careless penalty mistakes and more. Enjoyed texting with our DD , an Oregon Alumna during the game. Ducks aren't great 24/7 but then again the other teams have all lost games. Penn State made it close in the 2nd half for sure. Gotta play for 4 quarters and play smart.
Oh good grief Sam if it's their flagpole they should be able to do what they want.
We have a neighbor who has a 60 foot tall tree and strings lights up as if it were a pole all the way to the top and folks love it. We have a neighbor who strings green beans up a utility light pole and Christmas lights just now. Probably not "legal" on a utility pole but folks just enjoy it.
Hang in there Bill with antibiotics for sure!!

Good Morning
Pills seem to be doing the trick. It's Cephalexin for whoever asked. Big red capsules that cost me $0.50.
We don't have much Christmas stuff going on, outside of our Jessie Tree readings and decorations we make. I do need to figure out Christmas dinner. No cookie baking this year which is probably wise. I didn't get a chance to watch the Ducks game but tracked it on my phone. Today's big adventure is to go out to lunch for pizza at the place tin Colburg the Dr in Florence recommended to us. Turns out he lives just north of where we are in Eugene. We will explore a bit since it seems to be a nice day. We will look for a nice place to walk too. Somewhere along the line we will catch up with our realtor to review the inspection report. I need to do some planning for the rest of our time here and until we move into the new house. We may need a few days housing in Florence before we have beds and such, not sure. We take occupancy just before Christmas so nothing happens til 12/26. We are out of here 12/30.0
