Do you still track? and do you think you'll keep it up during the Holiday Season?

I fell off the tracking wagon a couple of years ago or more and it has dearly cost me in extra weight gain. I got some bad advice from a Hospital Dietition in a program that told me I didn't have or need to track just make sure I get 3 balanced meals with proper portions and I would do fine.

Well that didn't last long and I didn't last long after I lost about 25 lbs I gained it back and I ended the program.

It's hard for an overeater and as a person who loves food to just trust my brain and emotions. It just doesn't work that way for me. So I had been using MFP for years after I left WW's then stopped even tracking MFP after all my medical situations.

So I started back a couple of days ago tracking and with a busy schedule I still have a difficult time getting my priorities in order to quickly take 3 minutes and get it done.

I'll get back in the habit pretty quick and hopefully 2025 will show some real results. I need some good results.

Good luck with the tracking Derrick. We all know it works.

I've been tracking, but recently I have fallen into a bad habit. I track all day through dinner, then stop. That means I'm not counting desert or late night snacks. The theory, if there is one, is that I have set myself up well for the day, and I'm going to eat those things anyway. Unlike I just told Derrick that tracking works, this does not work.

Yeah tracking works! Its great advice, now if only I would follow my own advice!

I track on WW, including zero point foods. I also double-track on MFP. WW drive the nature and quantities of foods eat, and MFP gives me insight into the nutritional impact of those choices. I’ll be tracking through the holidays; my current streak is 988 days of tracking.

And that includes the bad choices. Some of those bad weeks this quarter have been 150-200 points negative. This week, I expect to end at least fifty points positive.

Charlie and I are of the same mind, except that my streak is 1153 days of tracking. That includes Reese's Peanut Butter pie, ice cream, and TOL's brownies.
TOL and I both dislike using our phones, but we still track on WW, as well as MFP.

I tried double tracking on the WW app and on food tracking app Cronometer. Cronometer seemed more useful for me and costs a lot less for Premium than WW. As I’m thinking about NY Resolutions tracking more consistently is a goal. It worked with step tracking consistency this year, Another thing I discovered this year is that, contrary to what I thought, I can be an stress-driven eater. ( I had a lot of heart testing this year and my wife recently had brain surgery for an aneurysm next to her optic motor nerve, )

I've been tracking more often than not the past few months, and it definitely helps me not overdo the calories by large margins. I'm planning on tracking through the holidays even if there will be a fair amount of good faith estimates.

Good Lord, Tim - hope your wife is doing okay. “Aneurysm” and “optic motor nerve” are the sort of phrases you don’t want to hear from your doctor!
