I do expect most of this to be bloating from said over-doing it, so hopefully a good drop next week! I have a follow up appointment on Thurs with my weight management NP so I would love to be able to report a loss to her, too.

Thank you @Alatariel75 and @lauren_989 !! Sometimes it's just a relief that a dress fits at all these days, this one felt especially good to have room lol :D

But man Lauren you are socked in with this illness! Gotta rest up this weekend so you arent carrying it into the holidays! <3

TGIF!!! I am so thankful it's the weekend. I am going to relax again this weekend and hope I can kick whatever I have to the curb! The office manager came around today and was like you're still sick...yup. This is the longest I have ever been sick, usually I get over things in about 5 days.

Anyone have fun plans this weekend? Maybe I will go drive around and look at some Christmas lights!

1 pound lost. I'm happy after spending a week in Jamaica, I was expecting to stay the same or gain a bit. I didn't drink a lot of water while there but we did walk a lot and I tried make good food choices. Glad to see some movement in the "down" direction.

Hi everyone. I am so sorry that I missed several weeks in a row. MFP’s notifications are not working for me, which have been a little frustrating, I’d love to know if someone has tips on how to get those working again.

Also, I have been incredibly busy with work and I had some personal travel plans last week and then came back home exhausted, only to dive into more work again. Honestly, I can’t believe how few days we have left until the end of the year now.

@lauren_989 - I’d love to rejoin and help the team get in the green. Can I weigh-in next week?

Absolutely! Come on back! Just let me know your starting weight this week. Is there anything under settings about notifications?

@lauren_989 I still haven't managed to weigh, so can I just skip this week and come back to my usual Wednesday? Sorry!

Hi team, sincere apologies for being gone for over two weeks.

Brad's mom passed on December 5. We are so thankful we had just over a week of time with her before she did. We miss her so much, she was a wonderful person.

We got home on December 7 with a new cat in tow. Animals were super important to his Mom and a few years ago we agreed if she wanted to get a new cat after her last one had passed that we would take the cat when his Mom passed. It was a stressful travel day but he could be in the cabin at our feet so that was good. It took us a few days to get him acclimated as we have two cats and two dogs in the house already (one dog being my mom's) but everyone did so well and a week in he's already acting like this is home.

I've been back at work since the 9th but Brad isn't going back until Monday. With the holidays coming up and just lots of projects going on, work is super busy. Our last day of work is the 20th before our company closes until Jan 2 so we are lucky to get such a long break.

We also happen to have a houseful for Christmas this year but with everything that's been going on we're not feeling super festive. But, my brother and SIL got here yesterday for the next two weeks so yesterday Brad and I got the house all cleaned and ready. My dad comes Friday. We don't have the energy to get a Christmas tree and decorate this year but everyone understands. So it will be a quiet Christmas in a lot of ways but most importantly we'll be surrounded by family.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, appreciated. I've caught up on all the November posts I've missed and now I'll do the same for December.

@lauren_989 know I missed some weigh-ins, current weight is 277.6

@Kali225 what a beautiful dress and a beautiful girl! I'm not sure I've ever seen a pic of you but you are stunning. Thanks for sharing

@conleywoods so happy to have you back and glad your new job has been such a positive change in your life.

@lauren_989 thanks for jumping in to help me with the step reporting. I can take it back now and apologies for leaving you in the lurch like that. Sorry you've been feeling so sick.

I have read everyone's comments and I'm all caught up. How is it only 1.5 weeks until Christmas??

I have been trying to plan out my day today. Nothing that needs to get done per say, but maybe do some cleaning. I also want to walk some, but it is a cold and rainy day here, so will probably wait for the gym when it opens at 1pm.

I have been doing a lot of pondering the past few days about my weight loss journey and what I can change to be more successful. But I think the best option is to review this past year, what went well and what challenges I faced. I will respond to the discussion question once I have time to reflect.

    Discussion Question
How was 2024 for you? This week, spend some time reflecting. What worked well, what didn't, what challenges did you face? I think reflecting is an important first step before planning the next week, month, year, etc.

    2024 Reflection

So I started in January with a weight of 220.2, and as of today I weigh 207.8, so I have lost 12.4 pounds this year. My main goal was to be lighter at the end of the year, than the beginning, so in that aspect I have succeeded.

    Looking at each month:
    January: down 9.4 pounds
    February: up 2.2 pounds
    March: down 2.2 pounds
    April: down 1 pound
    May: up 4.2 pounds
    June: down 3.8 pounds
    July: up 2.4 pounds
    August: down 3.6 pounds
    September: down 2.2 pounds
    October: down 7.8 pounds
    November: up 2.2 pounds
    December: up 6.6 pounds

The year started off great (like most resolutions do), however I maintained a bit, had another big loss in October, then creeped back up the last 2 months. I feel like holidays, birthdays, parties, whatnot get me off track and I have a hard time getting back on. My major downfall this year has been from Halloween on. I started slacking on tracking my food in November and December. In my mind, I know there are many "normal" days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but my brain says eat the food! Also, I did buy some sweets and normally, I try to not have them in the house so I don't eat them. I am going to need to come up with a plan for next year and the celebrations.

I will say, one thing I did really well and consistently was exercise. Even on vacations, I was out walking. I got a minimum of 150 minutes of intentional exercise each week, and most of the time more. Now, that I am feeling better, I am aiming for the 150 minutes of exercise each week again.

I have read multiple times, weight loss is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise...I know where I will need to focus next year!

How do you get back on track after a holiday, vacation, birthday, etc?

    Weigh In Day: SATURDAY
    PW (Previous Weight): 168.8
    CW (Current Weight): 170.2 (12/15)

No worries. Not in the black, but I’ve resolved that. 157lb is a great goal for 2025 and if I can end the year under 170, that would be awesome.

    Good evening Waistaways 🥰

Brad and Ashley I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️ I'm thinking a about you both ❤️

    CW 241.6lbs - a tiny loss, but a loss 🫣

I loved 2024 but I missed so many opportunities just because I was scared to go for it 🤦 but then again I am in really good place right now which sometimes I don't realise how lucky I am.

    As of today, in 2024 I lost 6lbs 😁🫣
But it is a loss 😁

I really wish I'll be at my goal weight Christmas time 2025 which is 150lbs, but I'll be grateful if I only lose 20.

I love all your company, Waistaways, and thank you for putting up with sometimes too honest of my posts 🤷🤣🥰

    Happy weekend everyone ❤️

    2024 Reflection

This was... not a great year.

I started off the year with all these goals of getting back into shape and really making 2024 my own. We had just moved to a new city in a new (my home) state, had a lovely new house near the beach, all should have been great. But life interfered, my husband had a lot of struggles that became the house's struggles, and by mid-year I was fatter, super stressed, depressed, and just struggling through the day.

I'd like to say things got better and I was able to get back on the health wagon, but it was kind of the opposite. Stuff got really bleak, and I thought I was looking at the dissolution of my whole life, to be honest. And I decided I needed to take control of something. I started back on MFP tracking and counting, and I started walking. I committed to a 25km hike in May 2025 and used that as motivation. I took advantage of my glorious walking opportunities locally (beach, hills, wetlands, hikes) and would use the walks to escape, clear my mind and just try and re-centre. My eating became something I could have control over in a life that was increasingly out of control.

Things are starting to come back together now. It's early days, but there's light at the end of the tunnel that I'm pretty sure isn't a train. I'm over 50lbs lighter (52.5 as of today!), my fitness is so much better, and we are making plans to really make 2025 our own.

I got over 10,000 steps today! The first time in over 4 weeks 😊

I also stuck to 1 small plate at our work holiday party. There were no desserts which was great so nothing to resist 😂

    Weigh In Sunday

    PW 180.5
    CW 178.6

I keep gaining and losing the same week after week so it ends up as no progress. I know these last two weeks of the year will be really difficult with the holiday and football playoffs. I plan on trying to limit what I eat and get some steps in as well. The weather isn’t very cooperative where I am, so I looked into a gym membership. It is kind of pricey where I am though. Sometimes I end up just watching tv and running in place. Good luck to everyone this week.

Have to love weight fluctuations! Food has been on track, less movement than usual. I'm working on getting that back on track! Have a good week, everyone
