This week we will be setting new goals for the new year. Submit 1-3 long term goals for the year and then 1-3 short term goals. Your long term goals and short term goals can be more general or very specific, but remember to give yourself grace and room to grow (and self-correct).

Give some thought too on how you’ll begin your quest in meeting these goals. How will you celebrate them? What changes will you hone on the goals if you need to self-correct?

Let’s discuss! In any case, the step of planning is your first step forward! Let’s do this!!

What was your big accomplishment in 2024?! See you in the chat thread!!

@jessicakrall8 Thank you for this post! I am just getting ready to set my goals for 2025. I usually have them written out by now but am a little late this year, so this is very timely. Perhaps one of my goals should be to not wait until the last minute. 🙃😂

Most of my goals carry forward from year to year, for example: read XX books, save $XX, lose XX pounds. I'm considering changing up some of my goals this year so am going to spend a day or so doing some research. I'm open to suggestions, how do y'all choose your goals for the year?

    Good luck to everyone!!

    Long term goals
    1. Maintain in my goal range
    2. Solve my insomnia
    3. Get stronger

    Short term goals
    1. Log all my meals
    2. Keep to my sleep schedule and keep a journal of what works and what interrupts my sleep
    3. Workout every morning before breakfast

My goal for 2024 was to walk 2024 miles. I not only succeeded, but I exceeded 2500 miles. I'll let you know my total on January 1st.

I have heard that Ashwaghanda helps with insomnia. Not sure if you tried that yet. My sister swears by sleepy time tea. If you find something that helps, let me know and I will tell my husband who also has trouble sleeping.

@micaroo4 Great job on the mileage!! 👍👍🎉🎉

Question, did you keep track of the miles manually or does your fitness tracker break it down for you?

    Short Term Goals
Over the next few days, Assess & Write down the following:
    • Where would I like to be at the end of the year?
    • At the end of 5 years?
    • What is Important to me?
    • Is my Career making me unhappy?
    • Do I want to do something else?
    • If so, what would that be?
(Research and write it all down)

I want to give some thoughts on my long & short term goals.
My best achievement for 2024 is to keep attending my local gym.A bonus is that Ive made some new friends from enjoying my Dance fit class regurarly. Also maintaining my walking & step count. My weight hasn't moved much in the year but I have lost inches & have only gained a few pounds up & down.
I will sleep on my goals & add them tomorrow.
For all the sleep strugglers I usually sleep
well anytime of the day & night & anywhere.I wish I could share my sleepability with you but I'm not sure what my secret is.Maybe walking & exercising helps as I do alot of both.I do notice a different if I don't do a lot of movement like the last 2 weeks when I've not been well.

    Long term goals:
-lose at least 30 pounds this year. That should be doable and I hope for more!
    -Jog a 5k without stopping

    Short term goals:
    -Track all my food daily
-Start my new couch to 10k plan. I read to jog 5k without stopping, you should do some longer runs. Maybe this will work?

My biggest accomplishment in 2024 was not giving up! Even though I had some good months and some terrible (December), I am still trying!

I just saw I was supposed to report my starting weight. It's 189.5. Also, when we weigh in (I weigh myself on Mondays), is there a special place I'm supposed to report this? @lauren_989, would I be reporting to you directly? I'm new to this. Thanks!

@AnAbsoluteDiva You're in the Mission Slimpossibles group so go to the January Mission Slimpossibles Chat thread and you'll report your weigh ins on that page. Go to the Main Fat2Fit Page and look under the list of chat threads to find January Mission Slimpossibles. Once you get to the page, at the top upper right corner, you can flag the page as a favorite and it will add the thread to your bookmarked pages. Good luck this month!

    My long-term goals are:
    1. Continue my focused weight loss and working on the swelling issues in my legs. I'm really tired of aching, but glad I found out I have no blockages or blood clots!
    2. Lose at least 50 pounds this year.
    3. Get back to walking, as I really miss it a LOT!

    My short-term goals are:
    1. Continue cooking at home and not eating out.
    2. Eat more veggies and continue eating fruits for lunch.
    3. Continue monitoring my water intake.

I use ashwagandha. It worked for about a week. I've tried melatonin and valerian root. I meditate. I don't use devices after 7pm. I've tried white noise, brown noise, pink noise,
green noise. I've tried going to bed earlier. And later. Everything works, and then it doesn't.

I have an account on runtheedge.com. It's linked to my Garmin, and it keeps track of my miles.

I usually have no trouble falling asleep. My problem is staying asleep. We all sleep in cycles that last about 2 hours. My problem is that at the end of each sleep cycle, I wake up completely. The cycle is supposed to start over, but I am fully awake and often can't get back to sleep. If I'm still awake after an hour, I'll get up. I don't turn lights on or anything, but I walk around for a bit, look outside (for wildlife) and go back to bed when I feel sleepy again.

@micaroo4 - congrats on walking 2024+ miles in 2024. Since you've gone over 2500 miles, I'm guessing you'll have no trouble doing the "year in miles challenge" for decades to come!
2024 miles in one year is an average of 5.5 miles every day! Are those miles specifically from walking or are they the result of converting all steps to miles? I was thinking that challenge is beyond me, but then I remembered my Garmin converts total steps to miles. So, if I can count all steps, whether on a walk or run activity, or even walking around, then I think I can do it. I just checked and I see my total for 2024 will be 2053+ miles.

@frankwbrown - my miles are from all steps converted to miles; my daily goal was 15K steps, but I always have actual walks of at least 5 miles per day. At least until December. I had to stop walking in the dark due to concern about ice that I might not see, and possibly falling.

    Long Term Goals

    1. Figure out if/what foods are causing my auto immune issues.
    2. Lose 20 lbs or enough inches to get back into my size 6/8s and then actually work on maintenance.
    3. Develop a better sleep routine.

    Short Term Goals:

    1. Complete a modified version of Whole30
    2. Complete a circuit training program like ones that have worked for me in the past (21 Day Fix, 30 Day Shred)
    3. Logging ALL food and drink

My big accomplishment for 2024 was getting hired to teach a step aerobics class at another bigger gym creating two additional sources of income doing something that I love.

I have created a January Bingo Goals card with my short-term goals for the month and will be rewarding myself with non-food related gifts like a new pair of good leggings, sports massage, etc. I'm excited about getting started and am actually hoping to black out the entire board by meeting all of the goals.

    Hi all,

Loved reading everyone’s goal and rooting for you all. Mine are

    Long term:

    - Loose 30lb. More will be fun.
    - bring my health numbers in normal range
    - Create a healthy relationship with food.

    Short term:

    - log food ( I so struggle with it)
    - Eat my medicine on time
    - Workout at-least 4 times week in gym and walk atleast 7k steps everyday.

2024 biggest achievement relevant to health was I managed to go Gym most of year.

AprilRaineyBattle, I am making Bingo card too. I saw this idea on insta and was so thrilled to try😊. Is this you trying first time or have done it before?

I loved reading everyone's goals! How do you plan to track your short term goals? I know some are doing bingo, anyone using the habit tracker? I use a calendar that I print out so I can see it throughout the day and then write it in at the end of the day.
