Hello Everyone:) I am happy to be joining your group! I have been born again most of my life and I am in love with my beloved Jesus! I also have had a life long obsession with book reading, collecting books and the pursuit of knowledge...it was more fiction reading as a child but now always factual. My problem is I try to read too many books at one time...right now I'm reading
Fasting for fire-Jennifer Miskov
The menopause reset- Dr.Mindy Pelz
Power of Vision-Dr.Myles Monroe
The Mystery of Spirtual Sensitivity-Carol Brown
Intercessory Prayer-Dutch Sheets
Help! Lol...I also have add and I think that is what makes me try to read so many at one time....I'd like to hear how other bookworms decide what to read when everything seems important:) be blessed!

Hi Lynndy456. It is so good to see you here.

I read four or five books at a time, but I love missionary biographies and they are always the first thing that I listen to [through Hoopla] in the evenings. I also enjoy listening to books on holiness, like Ruth Paxon, or on prayer like Andrew Murray. I will also, sometimes, listen to the Bible when I can't download the others. There are a ton of free "classics" and most of the books by these authors are in that genre.
After I read the non-fiction, I read fiction and that is where the number comes in. I read one non-fiction at a time, but then read three or four fiction which could be Regency, fantasy, fairy tale re-tells, sci-fi, Western, Early American but not chic lit or contemporary romance, although I do like contemporary suspense. I also will not read a book if it has cuss words in it or has sexual content; I also won't read about vampires or werewolves or witches.

I am 65 years old and have been saved for many many years. I've been entirely sanctified for many years as well. Every day is a growing day, drawing closer to Jesus and deeper in my faith. Jesus is everything to me and I can't imagine my life without Him.

I hope that you will share your books and thoughts with us!

Welcome, Lynndy! It's good to have you here.

I read a lot of fiction, but am trying to increase my non-fiction reading this year. My son-in-law wrote a book about the faith of Richard Nixon that was published last August, ONE LOST SOUL, and I'm slowly reading that. This isn't a book exactly, but I'm enjoying the devotional, STREAMS IN THE DESERT.

I'm guilty of often reading more than one book at the same time, so I won't be of much help. The problem is that when I pick up a book I've previously set aside, I have to backtrack in order to remember what I read. However, I do have a goal of sticking with a book until finished, especially fiction.

Hi, Lynndy456. It's good to have you join us.

I am a reader of Christian Fiction. If I read non-fiction, it is not a read of an entire book, but snippets for a study. I love research, but do that mostly online or in books that are in our library.

I usually read 2 books at a time (one audio and one on kindle). I listen most of the day while I do life. My husband is disabled and I am home with him most of the time, hence lots of time to listen.

We do have a thread where you can list your current reads and let us know if they are something we need to pick up. We are small group, but we are all dedicated to the Lord and are very particular about the fiction that we read....Mine is about 90% Christian Fiction and I expect squeaky clean!

Thank you for being so welcoming! It's great to be among other Christians and like minded people! I was thinking there is one kind of Christian fiction I do like Amish historical romance by Beverly lewis:) I loved V.C. Andrew's for years but as I became more mature in my christian walk I decided the content was not for me....excited to be here!

Beverly Lewis is so prolific a writer. There are quite a few authors now of Amish fiction. When I was growing up there were very few choices for Christian fiction, but now there is a glut and often they are very shallow or even add bad stuff in their books. We always have to be careful, that's why I like this group, we are able to let each other know if a new author to us is a clean one or not, and whether a book is awesome or just ho-hum!
