@JANET - Aww! Sorry you're still not feeling well. Keep getting as much rest as you can.

I worked out for 7 days straight and decided to take a rest day yesterday. I'm going to ride the bike after work tonight.

Well I have been pounding in zinc, lemon and honey as I started experiencing cold symptoms. My surgery is Monday and I don’t want to have to cancel it as much as I am not looking forward to it. Woke up this morning feeling a bit better and clearer. It was also my birthday yesterday and not an enjoyable one either. I think I am feeling stressed as the days get closer and I have been forced off all my herbal supplements for 1.5 weeks now, that have helped me stay healthy including my airborne, people poo-poo herbs and vitamins and they do help keep us healthy.

@CLEPANT - Sorry you're still not feeling well and that you didn't have a very nice birthday yesterday. Better days to come once you heal from your surgery and your cold is gone. :flowerforyou:

Rode 10.71 miles last night for MTD: 65.71 / 100 and coming home over late lunch today to give wife her car and I will ride again while she's at her appointment.

@Dave: I am feeling better. Thanks for the positive sentiments. I went to be early, and just pumped good things and I feel about 75% better. No doubt stress and pushing to get everything in place for what is coming.

@Dave: I know where you are coming for, about the work week being forever. I always felt that way starting back to teach and every holiday break. Now that I am retires, I just find that it takes longer to get daily jobs done that ware easier ton do on top of working.

I'm still just toddling along. Starting to feel better. My puppy has way too much energy for a creature that is supposed to be taking it easy.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

@JANET - Hang in there!

@CLEPANT - I can imagine it gets even harder to track what day it is after retirement. And when you’re working, you have to get stuff done quickly bc you never know when you could get back to it. But in retirement, there’s usually time “tomorrow“ so there’s less urgency…at least I would imagine. I’m getting there. I’m turning 63 in a couple months and I’m already beginning to think in those terms. LOL I mean I know nobody is guaranteed a tomorrow, but at least if I wake up, I won’t *have* to go to work! 😆

    I rode 9.96 miles today for MTD: 86.3 / 100

@Dave. My first two years of retirement were full time taking care of my dad until he died. Then it was and still is clearing his home. Then there was covid which slowed everything to a halt. Now I am finally in. A groove. I have a routine each day like a person working. The only thing is there is no pressure and it can always wait. The best thing for me is watching the school buses roll by and me knowing I don’t have to face that mess, and if it snows I can sleep in and not worry about getting to work.

And that's goal for @clepant! Congrats and good luck with your surgery.

@darkrider42 - people say they are busier after they retire than before and that is not just talk. It turns out if you want to stay busy there is an endless amount of volunteer work you can do. It's amazing how many people want to hire you when your price is free! But the big advantage is you can usually say no if you don't want to do something at a particular moment. Instead of having to finish that project you can generally say you'll do it tomorrow. It's very liberating to feel useful but not have to adhere to someone else's schedule.

Well I took my lab for a long walk, hiking to a local park and home. I let him sniff away. It was a bit sad as I am going to miss our daily adventures, like seeing four deer laying in the snow today. I would have thought they would find a nice stand of pine and go under them, but no, there in the woods they were laying in the snow. I guess they don’t feel the cold.

Just coming up for air. My surgery went well. Nerve block was a fist. And I was strapped into what they call a beach chair. More later. After the second OxyContin, I was terribly sick and a Fellow doctor on call said it was them making me violently ill. So, he switched me to Tylenol Extended Release switching g between Ibuprophen. While the pain is a 20out of 10, It is better than the narcotics. Adding another drug to my sensitivity list. I managed to walk the main hallway in the hospital before they let us upstairs at 4:30. Here is to day one and done.

@CLEPANT - Sorry you had a reaction to your pain meds! That's awful...I hope the worst of the pain tapers off quickly for you and the rest of your recovery is easier.

@JANET - I'm getting so tired of my job. That would be such a nice change if I could just pick & choose what I had to do or not and WHEN.

I started off the month with a lot of steam, but my body has been revolting the last couple of days. I'll be getting back on the bike tomorrow though. I feel even worse when I don't get my workouts in. Enough rest days this week! I'm going to work from home the next couple of days anyway. I've been too distracted working at the garage. And this way, I'll be right next to my exercise bike. lol

Doing much better today after the narcotic issue. Pain. Is tolerable. My husband agrees that I am much improved. I managed to walk around my house today. Will pull out my x bike. My poor lab keeps coming over and whining to go for a walk. My husband is stepping up.
