I gained 4 pounds, which given the temptations, I think was pretty good. Since returning, I've lost those same 4 pounds.

I do think I gained some perspective. I have been dealing with my binge eating disorder, and some of the tools I've learned have helped significantly. I also paid for the Premium MyFitnessPal (annual rate). I have found myself more devoted to tracking. Regaining access to the bar code scanner (used to be free) is a significant enticement for me. Plus, I am sure I'll use the recipe builder that is included.

I have been walking each day, having a bit more focus in that regard. Except when I have meetings, I try to walk the last 10-15 minutes of each hour - usually able to get close to 1000 steps. I even ventured outside and walked 1000 steps at lunch yesterday.

Plus, I want to thank each of you for being here. That truly helps.

Trying. That's what I am doing.

I also would admit that seeing positive results on the scale has, indeed, been a motivator this last week.

I'm up quite a bit over the past few months and the holidays didn't help! I started tightening things up post New Year's, but we just had some great news (our daughter got engaged), so there will probably be at least a few days of l'chayims with friends.

Since Thanksgiving weight is up. Since Christmas weight is down. I plan to continue to track. When I track, no matter how bad it gets, I tend to engage in better eating habits. Trust the process, as you all say,

. . . having a heart rate of 135 while sitting eating lunch leaves me winded and unable to move very much.

That would terrify me, I’m sure. My wife has been through that, but is controlled by meds now - and slowly working her way off some.

My daily average weight in Q4 was up five pounds from my daily average in Q3, so it’s gotta be the holidays, right?

    Well, no.

I did between okay and good for the holidays themselves, but found myself indulging as a reward for being g good. That’s bad.

The only new perspective may be an acknowledgement that my Q4 behavior isn’t sustainable, and perhaps a niggling concern that this is not a blip, but rather a weight gain that will take some time and discipline to get rid of.

Since my cardiac procedure on Dec. 18, I lost 16 pounds but have put 5 back in the past 10 days, Its a little tough for me to either credit or blame my habits at this point as I believe its mostly about surgery & meds right now, still trying to get the right balance of meds to keep my racing heart rate under control. off to see cardiology this morning for the next round of follow up, the good news is that the arythmia seems to have been corrected, but having a heart rate of 135 while sitting eating lunch leaves me winded and unable to move very much.

I hope you're able to find the right balance soon. Wishing you only good and a continued, speedy recovery.

I did ok during Christmas holiday but after the 1st I got swamped with business and totally got off track. Quick flash food like Gas station biscuits and quick fast food and a sure weight loss killer.

Trying to get a grip on my schedule and thus take some pressure off.

I did okay during December, in general, I think. The scale says I'm ok, but I wasn't weighing in December. My behaviors were mostly mindful. The end of December/beginning of January have been a bit more indulgent/less mindful due to unexpected travel, fatigue from same, a foot of snow and a bit of grumpiness from all of that. I'm giving myself a couple more days to get back to basics. But that doesn't mean I'm stuffing my face in the meantime.

    I officially hate snow.
