Warming up to a 5º wakeup.
Getting used to wearing insulated coveralls.
Too cold for dog training. So I will do household stuff and grocery stuff today.
Any word on DMIL? So good of Joanne's doc to see DMIL instead.
I love my crockpot. M calls it one pot slop whenever I cook with it. I call it delicious. I usually can make it a low point concoction with chicken/pheasant.
Gotta hit the grocery store today. The cupboard is a bit bare. Too cold for dog training group.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

I love a pot roast cooked all day in a crock pot.

Prayers for Joanne and for DMIL. Prayers also for Sam the caregiver.

Collin is wrapping up 6 weeks at his new employer. This is the longest he has been in one place in over two years. I am happy. He still likes the job!

We STILL have snow and ice on the ground. I am ready for bare ground.

Part of what I am supposed to do is gently work in exercise for my rib. Walking is a good source of exercise. A couple of weeks ago, I could slowly (2.4 mph) walk .4 mile when my rib would start to hurt, so I would stop walking. Last night, I did 1.05 miles at 2.6 mph. This is a positive sign on improvement.
I am also able to lift just a little more, but taking it careful. I went to the grocery store yesterday and that wore me out pretty well. It is extremely hard to shop for a diabetic with IBS issues. We have not been doing right by her with our eating. I am going to do my best to change that. Next month she turns 67. We need to take a little bit better care of her. She has a Dr. appointment on Monday to see where she is with her A1C, and to get advice from her new physician.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

I finally used a gift card from last year's birthday (in March), yesterday. It was for a small boutique butcher shop. I picked up some sweet Italian sausage, fresh brats, locally raised smoked turkey and some mortadella. None of that is especially point friendly - except the smoked turkey.

We haven't walked this week, whimping out over the temps in the 20s during the morning. Would really hate the weather many of you are having. We still don't have any rain in the forecast for another week. I can't tell you how rare this is for the PNW in January.

    Good Morning

It is good to hear of Collin current work going well.

We did some unpacking and resting and walked around the area. I had to stop after 30 minutes or so, however. But is was beautiful outside. Today I believe the desire is to go somewhere to walk. I think my son is behind it so we will go. Crock Pot stew came out great. One bowl a bit of bread and we were all satisfied. Next time stew meat is on sale I will make some and put it up in the freezer. Trying to get daily time in on the dulcimer as I slowly try to get back into the swing of things on the learning side. There is a Festival in 3 weeks so I am preparing to be ready for that.

    Late check in…

Took a walk on a snowy dirt road in the state forest after piano class, but cut it short as the toes became too cold. 21° and rather windy. Came home and heated up some homemade soup and a cup of hot tea.

Sam, things are sure busy there… keep the faith.

And Steve, that’s challenging to shop and cook with those diet restrictions. Does DW’s doctor have a nutritionist or dietitian who could give her a meal / shopping plan?

Been having swelling in legs lately. Compression socks don’t help much; I should do more walking more regularly. And put my feet up at times during the day.

Tomorrow’s supposed to be warmer and will be hiking or skiing after going out for breakfast.

    Onward and downward.

    Later check in meself!
A bit surprised Dave eschews walking in the cold. True enough I have biked a little later some days too although I have biked in the coldest part of the day yesterday in 24degrees. Walked today in 26 degrees and it was beautiful with DW. Careful on the wetland bridges which had frost but not terrible.

Someone asked if there was weather I wouldn't bike in and I am sure there is weather too cold but haven't found that here most of the time. I did get a "GOLDEN TROWEL" awar for riding my bike in 15 degrees thru snow and ice to a Master Gardener meeting. Not really equipped to do that for the most part and don't need to living here. I do have a bike with studded snow tires but have missed some days because snow was too deep or rutty for sure. So far no snow this year.

My PSA test dropped in half again when tested yesterday so apparently my radiation treatment for prostate is working as planned so far.

Sending my best Ts and Ps for Sam, Joanne, and Sam's DMIL. Very hard indeed.

    Nice day here.
