What’s one small habit that could greatly impact your health journey?
Without a doubt moving first thing in the morning, every morning, in pajamas, before coffee or doggie care or anything else: 20 squats, 20 pushups, 20 sit-ups, 20 jumping jacks. Gets the blood flowing and I have no aches and pains to speak of throughout the day.

@FushiaKat Woohoo glad you got the Christmas stuff put away! Smart to buy a few sets of the sheets you love. I'm having an issue with Jasper and sheets, he likes biting them and shaking his head back and forth and ripping them (thought it was my washing machine at first and was close to returning it). I'm trying to keep the bed made all the time but he's gotten to them at night so I'll probably just get cheaper ones for the next decade.

@vegan4lyfe2012 That's great Hunter and her husband may be on track with you two. The lentil soup recipe sounds delicious! I'm with you on the late nigt snacking being my biggest problem.

@DrewsAnna Wow that's great you're having a lot of energy with the supergreens! I haven't tried those I'll have to look for them.

@AnAbsoluteDiva what a beautiful room! It was worth some annoyance it's gorgeous (I get it though that does stink).

Go MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES in 1st place last week, woohoo! Awesome job top winners @trooworld and @TeresaW2024 !

@trooworld Reading in the park sounds like heaven aside of the cold! Yes you have to visit so we can read together, haha. Great job on cleaning up the shelves sounds like you got a lot done.

@AnAbsoluteDiva Oh no I'm sorry to hear about the pistachio reaction that stinks. I hope you can talk to a specialist soon and get to the bottom of things. Maybe if you can get your system in better shape you'll be able to add it back one day. I'm lactose intolerant but it's not as bad these days as I eat a lot less inflammatory plus learned not to drink milk.

@bobboyardee Great job on the work you've done!

@micaroo4 Yikes stay warm! It sounds like you've figured out how to work with the colitis, I'm glad you've figured it out.

@Cornanda That is real interesting about pistachios I didn't realize they were a drupe.

@TeresaW2024 Hugs to you I hope the courts get things moving too, thinking of you all.

WHAT'S ONE SMALL HABIT THAT COULD GREATLY IMPACT YOUR HEALTH JOURNEY? That needs work is being stronger about night snacking, grrr! I got into some gingerbread cookies last night and demolished them, gotta break the wanting sweets after dinner. I'm sorry @TeresaW2024 I'm being a bad no-sugar partner!

Hi team think I got to everyone. First some good news @littlebabekitty is returning to the team, she'll be back any time now.

I got up and worked out then was super cold (CRPS thing) so I ended up back in bed trying to warm up for a few hours. I managed to at least get the tooth extraction covered and my appointment is a few weeks away, the cap with tooth and post isn't going in well now so that part will be a challenge. Got some work done and did some garden clean-up. Fell off the wagon last night but am doing better today, it's been a challenging week. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

@Cornanda – Wow I never thought to check to see if a pistachio was truly a nut. That was some really helpful information - Thank you.

@micaroo4 - At least I know I am not alone. I just hope it similar to your experience in that I won’t have to give up certain stuff forever. Oh my! That is so cold! How often do you see temps like that?

@trooworld – I’ll bet that was really satisfying to declutter. We have a large shelving unit in our laundry room that has gotten out of hand and I get overwhelmed just looking at it. I like the idea of using baskets to organize.

@TeresaW2024 – congrats on the loss! The specialist came highly recommended by a coworker who had similar experiences (turned out she has a gluten sensitivity). It gives me hope that she can figure out what is going on with me as well.

What’s one small habit that could greatly impact your health journey?

It may sound weird but avoiding cookies. If I eat one I’m going to eat more – a lot more. I cannot just eat one as an occasional treat. One today is a whole package/pan tomorrow and it sets off a chain reaction which derails everything over and over, several times a year. They are the one sweet treat I truly enjoy but I have no chill whatsoever. It's like the cookie monster from Sesame Street, if cookie monster was a 40+ year old lady that is. I can seriously eat my entire calorie goal + in cookies for a day and not be satisfied and want more the next day.

Good morning Slimpossibles!
We rarely get temps below zero, so this is brutal. Minus 7 this morning. Where is spring?

@vegan4lyfe2012 They all stayed one night, and then my niece and the baby went home because she was too stressed with the baby trying to destroy my house, and he wouldn’t leave Maggie alone, which was stressful for me. We didn’t like that she went back, and there were several police visits, all thanks to the POS calling them. He called one time because my sister was there. I seriously had to threaten my sister that I would NOT bail her out and to come back home! It’s over now. See below. :) Happy Birthday! <3 That is so sweet of Hunter to surprise you, and we all need to get off the processed foods. I’m working on that, too. :)

@DrewsAnna, I’ve considered adding some super greens to my protein shake. Thanks for the link! :)

@AnAbsoluteDiva, I LOVE your new room!! The floors are amazing, and those floral chairs are gorgeous!! Especially how the eye pulls to the terra cotta pots. Stunning! < 3 I need a tour of your whole home! I love the minimalist design so much!! :) I agree that getting the blood moving first thing in the morning is such a good idea! I often do something like that while the coffee is brewing.

@Katmary71 OK, you got into the cookies. I can’t say I blame you. Gingerbread is a hard cookie to resist! Just remember you can’t eat it if you don’t pick it up! What you need is a 7-year-old. I told Elena that I was eating no sugar and now she is policing everything I eat. I had to explain that I can have strawberries in my protein shake if I don’t put sugar on them. :D

@AprilRaineyBattle As I told Katmary, we can’t eat it if we don’t pick it up. Cookies are so highly processed with super palatable stuff and lots of sugar that they literally take over our brain, and once we start, it is truly hard to stop. This is why I’m doing a sugar fast because I also can never stop with just one. Can you not buy the cookies? I buy my husband cheap cookies that don’t call my name, and he doesn’t likes them. :)

@micaroo4 Stay warm!! We got some snow yesterday, and it is going to be very cold here today, too. There are only 58 days until Spring, according to a Facebook post I saw earlier! :) 🌷🌺🌹

Good morning! The POS is gone!! She went to the courthouse, and instead of trying the eviction first, she tried to get a retaining order, which, praise God, the judge granted!! She returned home, and we all stayed on pins and needles until the four cops showed up. He had 15 minutes to pack a bag and get out. He has to make arrangements with the sheriff's office to get the rest of his stuff. He returned the keys, and since his name isn’t on the lease, we hope to avoid eviction. So, once the ice is off the roads, the kids can go home, and I can mop my floors! :D We don’t know what’s next, but we all breathe a sigh of relief, and I was able to get a good night's sleep. Thanks to you all for your thoughts and prayers! <3

What’s one small habit that could significantly impact your health journey?

Well, it seems that cutting sugar and snacking is having a huge impact on my health journey. :)

@vegan4lyfe2012 Fair, I assume most people here are in the US! I'm in New Zealand, so if you know of sites here or Australia it'd probably be cheaper! And yes, cheesy terrible (b-grade may be too kind) monsters - I have fond memories of Tremors and Sand Sharks. The worse the better hahah! It's great that you've got the three of you on the non-processed train, having the supports around you makes things slightly (hopefully lots) easier to stick to.

@TeresaW2024 Great news on the restraining order! It sounds like it has been a wild, horrible ride, glad you can all breathe again now.

I have been getting 10+ min on the treadmill most days now it is set up. And I tried dragon boating yesterday - my back is a bit stiff now, but it was good fun and nice being out on the water. Seems like a nice group of people in the club, so I will go back for another round tomorrow.
Hoping that a couple of days of routine activity will help - it makes a difference if people are expecting me to turn up!

@DrewsAnna – I get this funny mental picture of you bouncing off the walls with the supergreens :D

@AnAbsoluteDiva – Now THAT is the space for a Diva! Love it! Also like your habit of moving first thing in the morning.

@Katmary71 – Hunter’s cats did the same thing to my kitchen curtains. She replaced them for me right before moving, but I didn’t hang them until those cats were gone! I’m glad you were able to schedule the tooth extraction. Hang in there.

@AprilRaineyBattle – I am the same way with gingersnaps. I just can’t have them around me at all.

@TeresaW2024 – Oh what a mess. Praise God the judge granted the restraining order. Hopefully singleness will become a new normal for her quickly. Elena sounds hilarious policing you – she may need to stay :D

@trooworld – Yes, the cake is all gone. Chips are gone. Licorice is gone. About the only thing I can do any real damage with now would be nuts and peanut butter. Nice protein count for the creami!

@jellytree – New Zealand! How fun! You totally need to check out Charity Tea. I haven’t tried their Earl Grey, but I’m sure it’s good. I love their Kawa, Mintuka, Good Morning, and Jazz blends. https://charitytea.co.nz/ Tremors is a classic! And Sand Sharks…absolutely! I love all the stupid shark ones! Have you seen Velocipastor yet? Llamageddon? Killer Sofa? Oh - Rubber is one of my faves, too! I own that one! The tire’s name is Robert :D

Hey, all! Anyone here do sprouting? I’m going to give it a try with broccoli, alfalfa and radish. I’ve been looking at the different options and it seems the mesh strainer jar lid with “feet” for them to be tipped at an angle is the way to go. What sprouting seeds do you recommended? I’ll take any advice anyone has to offer.

I have a new obsession - quick pickled red onions! I finally made some last night using apple cider vinegar, salt, stevia, and whole black peppercorns. Had to give them a try for lunch today. I wasn't sure if all the components of my bowl would be cohesive, but happily discovered with the first bite that it was beyond delicious and I love love love pickled red onions!
+ Rancho Gordo Yellow Eye beans
+ Pearled barley cooked in McKay's Chix powder
+ Steamed broccoli
+ Guacamole sauce
+ Tomatoes
+ Pickled red onions
+ Black garlic finishing salt

@AprilRaineyBattle Is there a cookie that is the best cookie ever to you? I was good at doing this for awhile where I would avoid eating “average” chocolate then go get a gourmet piece once a month instead. If you could get one of the best ever and not bring more in the house would you be able to go for one here and there and not end up eating more? I do that with ice cream these days.

@Micaroo4 yikes stay warm that's insanely cold!

@TeresaW2024 LOL I do need a 7-year-old nagging me and that I'd have to model good behavior in front of for sure! So glad that jerk is gone, whew! I'll keep up the prayers for them I hope your niece stays strong and doesn't give him another chance unless he's really making an effort to stop that behavior.

@trooworld Oh wow you first Ninja Creami dessert sounds amazing!

@jellytree You're getting some good exercise, I'm glad the dragon boating crew has some good people you can look forward to seeing, that makes a huge difference.

@vegan4lyfe2012 Oh no I'm glad the cats aren't there to thrash your curtains! I've done sprouting before, funny I was just thinking I needed to do it again soon my SIL gave me some small cardboard one-use sprout trays she was going to throw away. Radish ones are the spiciest I've tried I like them and broccoli the best. I played with sprouting beans before eating for awhile, you can sprout stuff you already have like peas and beans and see if they sprout. For starting out I'd recommend something like this kit, The Sprout House is a pretty popular company and this would be a fun intro to discover your favs: https://www.amazon.com/Sprout-House-Assorted-Organic-Sprouting/dp/B005LRAFQ6/ref=sr_1_46?crid=RL8DIJ706Z82&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.jKwMNFKDq39wG6POtvIuuhUKt1xlAaXGSfh4yRsGztza6WKzvvMQoT5QvvV43joQuAWE3BeWl0VxyqgrNHFkfb8Pf3sqCLEiRZ1uCXI1J3_x_C2lb9xE-D4Ynwvz40yJMRHKGQkvQxGm12DNYLM2fTUNqWT1F7yH-xXYMFcZcoYxADYv5NvXGw2F9JLSMfRrZTiGFssN3Qh3JRIg_EMQHTH_5f1_q3o40CB-8PxBxeSSHdyPMxZkObddPEQzHX02c8cGLNG89p-Rl3b9ekAR8F-HZk9H32lK7EHUWYwipEWnVhDYDWxChsYvkAm8ZxHkJrwYK3FpbakD_NmWK2TIyHrj1bBgqK96pnGWEeAb5PcP0iqMAeK0TYbIfiloYSsOadXd-Kp4UTs15U5RvA5AkOuOK57dBoHZ0SAQ3MgVymU-yS1K4Rioi5ydUHM1VgWB.T7d7A51PgnYW9OoxgcDEKnJtWQta5dQ9PLI9hteDCBs&dib_tag=se&keywords=the+sprout+house+trays&qid=1737596105&sprefix=the+sprout+house+trays,aps,138&sr=8-46 My sprout trays are kind of like this, keep in mind you start them and they're ready pretty fast so think about how much you'll actually eat when purchasing your sprout trays (you can do in jars too). I mostly add them to salads so it's just a handful at a time and am fine with one tray, the ones I have are smaller than the link but if I ate them daily I'd probably start them every few days so I'd start one when the next is almost ready so I'd recommend 2 for sure. I haven't tried the metal trays but if I did it more often I'd rather have one metal than 4 plastic like I do. Pickled onions are the best and they're absolutely beautiful when it's the red ones! Your meal looks delicious!

Hi friends! Aside of running to my brother's it was a lazy, around the house kind of day aside of working out this morning. No snacking for me tonight I'm going to a CRPS meeting this weekend and we usually meet at ice cream places so I'm going to NOT eat sugar until then and try to have it be my only sugar for the rest of the month. My roommate's son has been having mental health issues and she's been staying with him, hoping he's doing better soon. I'm in the greenhouse by myself tomorrow but there's not a lot to do so it's no biggie. Have a great Thursday team!

@TeresaW2024 I feel for what your niece and her children are going through. I used to do volunteer work for homeless kids (living in shelters and cars and couch surfing) and what I would do with them that helped them a lot was to play games. It distracted them. It engaged their bodies so that endorphins would be released. Hopscotch, Twister, It, (never Hide and Seek.... NEVER), and jump rope/double dutch. I know it's freezing and I don't know the ages of your nieces children, but if you can get your hands on Twister, and if they could all play, you'd be surprised how beneficial it would be to them. Twister is better than some of the others because it involves teamwork, if you will. The thing that would hurt these kids the most was the "being still and thinking". Distractions that lift them up are helpful. Basketball was also huge but I totally suck at basketball so they'd always win (which brought them more joy than you could imagine). Even 20 minutes a day of "playing" will help. Your niece also needs to "play". Wishing you all peace and serenity.

@trooworld As a grandmother of eight, I am a master at packing my own goodies. My go-to is chia pudding. Google it but make sure you stir that stuff halfway through. Most recipes skip that part. I have two-ounce Ball jars and I make this stuff in advance and store them in the jars. When the kiddos and I take off (Marvel Comics Universe rules!), I have my chia pudding and spoon while they're stuffing themselves with the popcorn and Raisinets and some Sour Patch thing I've never heard of. In the warm weather, I make a lot of pudding pops (search for these using the word keto to make sure the sugar is out) and they get their vanilla ice cream with macerated blackberries (homemade - best stuff ever) while I'm enjoying a cold treat that doesn't break the caloric or glycemic bank. I hope this helps.

@TeresaW2024 - I'm so glad that your niece got a restraining order! Make sure that any arrangement he makes for getting the rest of his stuff is SUPERVISED, so that he doesn't take stuff that doesn't belong to HIM. A friend of mine had her POS boyfriend removed via a restraining order, but when it came time to get his stuff, he was trying to take everything out of the house and leave her with nothing. The judge made him make a specific list of what was his, and she put it in the garage for one of his friends to come and get. He was not allowed on the property AT ALL.

@trooworld Yikes that's some cold water! Great job doing your own thing and getting the workout done, I'd have been frustrated too but I'm glad you toughed it out and got a good workout in. I loved the Y when I tried it I hope it's something that would work for you. That's not the gym with no parking I hope?

@TeresaW2024 Thank goodness your niece is done with her ex, I agree with you about him needing real serious intervention. Once her ex gets his stuff they all can start healing, I hope it's done soon.

@laurelfit57 That's ok no worries. Oh no I hope you're feeling better soon, I'm sure the screen is awful for your head right now. Keep feeling better we miss you (but understand).

Hi team! Been having issues with the cold though it's not horrible cold just my nerve issues, I'm spending a lot of time in bed trying to get warm. I was at the greenhouse alone for the first time in a long time, I really miss that but appreciate the help too. I'm headed to the tub have a great Friday! Did great with no sugar today and my workout.

@Katmary71 – peanut butter cookies are my favorite (because peanut butter is my favorite). There is an Olde English style bakery about a 20 minute drive away from me that sells fantastic ones. But I will order two and only get two. Then the next day I will fixate and want more and try to hold out until getting them from almost anywhere else will do. Eventually I will be eating a whole pan of the ready to bake at home ones and the cycle runs thru for months until I somehow break free after I’ve eaten all the sweet things. Idk how to break the habit and I hate how I get derailed with them but it happens everytime.

@vegan4lyfe2012 - I once ate a whole box of gingersnaps years ago when I had COVID. They were the only things I wanted besides chicken broth and ice water. I have not had another since though I do like them.

I feel like January has been the longest month at this point. I really hate cold weather and it has been colder than average. I still go to the office twice a week and teach my step classes at the gyms twice a week but anytime I have to leave the house I am annoyed! LOL

@AnAbsoluteDiva, I love your advice on how to help distract kids. The oldest is 11, and the jerk of a human is his dad. The girls are 7 and 4, and the baby (his other kid) is only one. We did do our best to keep them busy when they were here by doing crafts and playing games. We even had a dance party! My niece told me yesterday how thankful she is to have a family who will take her in and help her. She is fully aware of how hard women have it when they find themselves in an abusive relationship. Thinking of those women and kids is heartbreaking, and I’m thankful for people like you who volunteer at the shelters. :)

@Katmary71 Good job on no sugar and working out. I hope it warms up for you soon so you feel better. I smiled thinking of just you and the plants having your moment. :)

@AprilRaineyBattle Longest month of the year!!!! :s

@DrewsAnna You need to talk to that food noise and tell it to shut up! Can you pinpoint what is causing the noise and figure out how to redirect your thoughts? You got this! :)

@askewcr I’m glad you are feeling better, but you are right now that you are feeling better you need to watch how much you are eating. You will figure it out. :)

@trooworld My niece was seeing a therapist. I need to ask if that is still going on. She needs it for sure! Congrats on your weight loss! How great that you have so many options to choose from for water aerobics. We always wish it was more but down is down and 1.8 is great! B)

Good morning! The POS came yesterday with a sheriff and got the rest of his stuff. My niece told us that he is big mad! OH well!! This month has been insane, and I agree with April that it’s been way too long! Today, I have my ortho appointment to see about my wrist. I hate spending money on it, but the pain has to stop! You all have a great day! :)

I saw this quote and thought how perfect it was. This week's drama could have easily derailed my plan, but I didn't let it because I adapted instead of quitting. :)

"In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering.
In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don't have much time? Scale it down. Don't have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day.
Adaptability is the way of consistency."
