Okay. Well holding kind of steady. I'm actually grateful to have seen a little up and down in the past few days. Monday, I think it was 129.6. I hope that movement means that my digestive system is beginning to normalize. I am feeling much better, although I still have a little tenderness and my energy is not yet back to normal. But progress. I'm still watching what I eat, was not able to start back walking on the TM until Friday, and am still not getting as many steps as before, but at least I'm moving. Here are both my 7-day and 5-day averages:
Steps = 7,912 and 9,622
Kcals burned = 1,635 and 1,572
Tomorrow is my radiation simulation and Monday starts the actual treatments, so wish me well. I hope that the side effects do not derail me too far.
Lois, I hope that the fire near your daughter is out soon, and I'm glad to hear that they quickly evacuated and can get the horses out, too, if needed. These fires are so scary. And I'm also glad that you got to the doc and have the PT appointment. Does seem a little strange, though, about the phone calls and their not addressing them. As you know, the reason I changed radiation groups was communication issues, and I'm so glad that I didn't just try to put up with it.
Mentioning radiation, my simulation is tomorrow at 11 (they changed the time) and then I start the actual treatments, as planned, on Monday. So the countdown begins.
Kelly, I hope that Shawn's foot is doing better and there's no signs of another kidney stone. That poor guy. I still cringe when I think about his waiting so long for treatment that day. When I had those CAT scans they said they saw a tiny kidney stone but that I would never know that I had it. Don't know exactly what that means. And I noticed when I was pulling things over from my 2024 calendar that you have a wedding anniversary coming up. It's hard to believe that 6 years have passed. It seems like a year or so ago that you shared the first pictures of your beautiful dress.
Sheesh, I hope that you are fully recovered from whatever bug hit you after Christmas. I have been thinking about you and sending good thoughts your way.
And now my kitty, Bella, is putting her little claws in my leg because she wants lunch, so I have to run.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone, and looking forward to us helping each other get back our healthier selves.

Good Wednesday morning. Great to see your post Sarah. Good luck with simulation tomorrow and hopefully Monday will be a breeze.
Yeah, not getting a call back from PT is so bizarre. I'm a cash cow for them...lol... Anyhow I have my appt Friday as long as I don't get called for jury duty tomorrow. The new muscle relaxers seem to be helping. I'm not quite as tender today as I was yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed.
The smaller fire, closest to my daughter's home is out and the one about 3 miles away is 80% contained, so great progress from the firefighters. They are amazing. On their news they did mention they have a "vehicle of interest" as a possible arson. WOW Humans can be horrible if that is the case. They mentioned the timing of the fires being started coincides with a vehicle travelling the same pattern. Don't people realize there are cameras everywhere.... Hopefully they catch the people and they are taught a lesson.
Welp - I just purchased two new Disneyland Magic Key annual passes (our current ones expire in April and I'm concerned about getting my Memorial Day weekend dates, so I just bought new ones so I can make the reservations and buy my grandson his ticket as soon as the dates are open to reserve. Just eases my brain and stress related to the booking.
Happy Anniversary Kelly & Shawn. Hopefully his foot will feel better soon. My son has the gout troubles and it will just flare up out of nowhere. So I do understand his pain and your frustration.
Sheesh will pop back later to see your updates.0 -

I credit low appetite for the reduction, although I am feeling better. Probably at 90%. I've had low energy, and feel like I need to hydrate more and more efficiently. My trainer suggested coconut water for better absorption. It's not great tasting, but maybe I'm getting water, electrolytes, and a little sugar into system better. The Powerade Zero was getting old anyway. I mostly drink water, but the medication I take really gets the water outa me fast (lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide combo pill for BP)
Speaking of BP, hubby had a weird episode of high BP last week. He was having a bad headache for days, and I finally took his BP and it was quite high. I made him get an apt at the clinic that night (not his regular doc) and they told him to stop taking my migraine med (imitrex) even though it helps because he could have a stroke! (Imitrex constricts swollen blood vessels in the brain.) So, they sent him home with instructions to take his hydrochlorothiazide with his BP med (which is different than mine) and to monitor his BP. It took about 4-5 days and it's now finally normal. He'll see his regular doctor in a week or so to follow up. I'm wondering if the elevation changes are what's affected us?? Dunno.
Sarah, I'm going to be sending you love and strength tomorrow and Monday for your simulation and treatment Hopefully your diverticulitis will be completely resolved or mostly resolved by Monday. How frequently do you receive treatments? Will you be driving yourself? Your numbers are incredible, especially considering what you've been going through. I hope you won't push yourself too much if you don't feel well. Just listen to your body.
Lois, how scary that your daughter had to evacuate to a hotel! These fires are the worst!! Maybe your PT people are just having telephone system issues or a new person training? You're so cute to be planning all your Disney fun for the year already. Hopefully your back and toe will be sorted out soon. I know I should be planning our year, but I can't gear up enough to do it! My son's family is coming during their kids "winter break" to go skiing, and they'll stay here since we are very close to the resorts, and we have a hot tub, and we're free LOL. They'll be here February 17 - 21. That's as far out as I've planned, lol.
Kelly, so good to see your update. My Dad had gout, and his kidneys weren't the greatest, but I don't think he ever had stones. Could the two be related? I'm not sure, but I think gout is caused from high uric acid levels which I think the kidneys are supposed to filter out. Anyway, I sure hope he gets his foot pain sorted out. Happy upcoming Anniversary! I remember you went to Mexico. We were at the Barceló Maya Riviera Resort. There are six hotels within that resort, and we stayed at the Caribe. It was the best time! My back is peeling a little.

Hi, all. Just popped in hoping to hear from Sheesh and Kelly. Sheesh, your weight is moving on down. Like you, I think my weight is down because I've been sick, and I figure that I'll rebound a bit, but until treatment is over, I'm going to have to give myself some leeway. I don't know yet about side effects from the radiation, which may be fatigue, soreness, and nausea. May be. Not written in stone, so I'm hoping for the best. Today's visit went fine. I did remember what I was told to do 5 weeks ago. Yeah! And traffic today was light, despite having the Feds all called back to work onsite. So I'm very grateful to have snagged those late morning times. Now if I can just make it to February 25, I'll have this behind me.
Sheesh, I hope that your hubby's doctor gets him on a BP med that works well for him. Once my radiation is behind me, I'm going to see a cardiovascular doc to have him assess my BP and the best med, given my problems with dehydration. For years, I've felt good most of the time and have just avoided some of the preventive care that I wish I had paid more attention. I hope to do better in 2025.
Sheesh, I know you'll enjoy the Calif family visit in February, and Lois, it's great that you're already planning fun times for 2025. I wish I was better at planning ahead. That's another thing I want to be better at in 2025--planning and doing fun things, even if it's just day trips.
Well, got to run. I called my first walking buddy (Toni) a couple of days ago, but caught her in a restaurant. She called me back last night, but I missed that call. So I'm going to try again to reach her. I miss those days when she and I would meet at the mall after work to walk and talk. It was a nice way to wind down at the end of the day.
Kelly, hope you can check in soon and that all is well with you and all your loved ones.0 -
Sarah, I’m glad the simulation went well, and you navigated thru traffic smoothly. I’m looking forward to this being done for you. Glad you’re planning to keep moving. Good luck Monday.0

Good news - my daughter has gone back home. She had left her in laws in the hotel for a couple of days as a couple of small fires had been started again. But she's confident today and bringing them home this afternoon.
And yes, hubby got me a copy of his work calendar and I've plotted out Disneyland trips on the weekends he doesn't have testing, tournaments or seminars. Star Wars Nite tickets go on sale next week, so I've marked my calendar to attempt to buy them for April 8 with my sister (this will move our March trip to April).
Sarah - I'm so glad your appointment went great. And awesome idea to schedule it late morning to avoid the morning rush hour and at least reduces some of the stress of the commute. I'm sure you're gonna do well once this is over. Good luck getting your walks back on with Toni.
Sheesh - happy to see our post. I can only have coconut milk in a sb mixed drink, but not solo. I've tried that several times. I've had to move to pedialyte - I know there's more sodium in it, but it's all I can handle for dehydration, or liquid iv, but I prefer pedialyte packs. I'm on the hydro one as well, solo but in combination with Valsartan in the morning and Metroprolol and Amlodipine in the morning for my bp. So I understand the need to stay hydrated.
Off to PT for my back.

Happy Monday ladies
I had my doc appt this past Saturday. Yes, the numbers are still increasing. Per the doc, some of the changes could have been impacted from the prednisone and pain medications I've recently started for my back since I'd started shortly before my blood draw. So, we're going to do another set of labs in April (dates to be scheduled after I purchase Star Wars Nite tickets for me and my sister tomorrow). I want to do it prior to Disneyland and follow up shortly thereafter. Still watching what we eat and I've begun to log into MFP (today is day one).
We are off to Disneyland this Friday evening so I won't be logging while there (you know how crazy the MFP site is to use on the phone).
My back is still problematic. Still on muscle relaxers at night. Hubby had to schlepp all of the Christmas boxes to storage yesterday. I'll probably still be on the relaxers at Disneyland. Still feeling the spasms. And, I couldn't get any PT this week until Friday morning. I'm doing the exercises, but can't get manual manipulation until just before we leave so I'm taking my meds to be safe. One of the meds I'm on is Meloxicam, unfortunately, I'm having severe diarrhea since starting it, almost uncontrollable (like bathroom as soon as you feel it...yeah...a couple of too close of calls). So, though the medication worked on relief, that is not an option I can live life with. Imagine being 30 mins from home and the urge hits. I've had less than 5 mins at home... so I have to stop that one and manage with only Tylenol and Advil and relaxers at night.0 -
Oh, Lois, I am so sorry about the side effect from your pain med. I've taken Cipro and Metronidazole before to treat diverticulitis, but this time, one of those caused me to have the same, "no time to waste diarrhea". It's frustrating how some treatments cause other problems that are almost as bad as what they're supposed to treat. Glad to hear that you're logging food. I have to do that or I go off the rails. I've never tried doing it on my phone, though. I thought about doing on my phone it over Christmas, but then decided to just give myself a break that week. Loggin what I eat does help me not only see how many kcals I'm consuming but also how I can stay within my calorie range but still either get too much of things I don't need (like sodium and sugar) and not enough of things I do need (like calcium and protein). Anyway, sending you some good vibes. I had my first treatment today and all went well. Afterwards, hubby and I went to a nearby mall and had lunch and then walked for a half hour. Not thrilled with having to do this every single day for a month, but--onward and upward.0

Sarah - SO happy all went well today!! You've got this!! You're going to do amazing!!! Thanks for the support. Not fun being tied to the restroom when we're not ill.0

Wow everyone sure has been having a tough go of things lately haven't we!! Things can only look up from here, right?!?!
Shawn's foot is normal-ish. He has feet problems in general. Of course the stubborn guy won't go to get referred to a foot doctor and I can't seem to make him. He'll have to figure it out on his own.
I'm sitting here typing with the "North American 80 Comprehensive Series" of patch allergy tests on my back. And it's exactly that... 80 patches!! OMG they are itchy. They put them on yesterday late morning and they come off tomorrow, then I get my official results on Thursday. My allergist already agrees that my eye swelling is an NSAID allergy, so at least I know that now. The patch testing should tell me what is causing my eyelid redness/dryness/itching, which is separate from the swelling. So here I am at work.. dancing around at my stand up desk and pressing on the walls with my back like a bear lol Can't wait until this is done. I booked my physical for the beginning of March so I can talk to my doc about my weigh gain and how I can't seem to get that under control.
Thanks for the anniversary wishes!! Shawn and I went to the cabin with our pup and just hung out there together. My parents also celebrated their 49th anniversary last week.
Ok just a quick check in. I hope to have more time tomorrow to read everyone's posts more thoroughly.0 -
Star Wars Nite tickets secured for me and my sister in April. Hotel is secured. Park reservations complete. Sisters trip is planned.
Kelly - oh man!!! I had the batch of "pokes" on my back. But that was only a few hours, not days. I feel for you and hope you get answers!!
Happy Anniversary to you, Shawn and your parents!!!0 -
Lois, sorry your back med isn't worth the side effects. Have fun at Disney this weekend And I'm so glad your daughter and her in-laws are safe and back at home.
I'm feeling better. But I do have an apt Thursday with a doctor to just check me over. It always seems like about the time it takes for the doc apt to come is when I start to feel better
