Fighting to get down to less than 300 pounds

For more than 20 years I weighed more than 300 pounds and nothing was working. I finally decided to get serious about losing weight and within the last 5 years I've dropped from 372 pounds to 293 pounds. With another 102 more pounds to go to reach my ideal body weight. Its very much like AAA where you need to work on your diet one day at a time.

That is some amazing progress you have made! Good job!! One day at a time is the way to go. All I needed was the right information. I have the determination to make it happen and I have every intention of continuing. I will log my food for the rest of my life because it works and keeps me accountable. It is going very well.

Thank you very much. I took a very determined approach to research what it takes to lose weight. And once I started focusing on the biology of our body and looking at metabolism is when I started to notice tangible results. One of the best pieces of advice given to me was to give up those processed foods which are so high in carbs, contain so many calories, and are bad for your metabolism.

freaking awesome Scotty! You put a smile on my face today. Welcome to the group. I look forward to spending the rest of our lives as your friend and support. I know your joints have to feel better. 80 pounds feels unfathomable at the moment. You are almost half way there! One step and one day at a time. We are with you.

I have lost 18.2 pounds since Christmas and the weight is coming off at a good pace. By the time I go to my next annual physical in April I will have lost 45 pounds at this rate. I can't wait to see the doctors reaction to the loss. That will be very rewarding! By the time I have my total knee replacement surgery in September I will have lost 99 pounds total. My surgeon will be happy and it will be a less risky procedure. Recovery will also be easier I am sure.

I wouldn't recommend counting your weight loss before it happens. 3 pounds a week is a hard goal to keep up. If you aren't getting enough protein and weight training you could end up losing a good amount of muscle.

The most important part of losing weight is to be healthy. I know all your joints will be happy about having the weight off. Just remember when you have the surgery you will need to eat at weight maintenance regardless if you have met your goal or not so you can heal. You are doing awesome, keep up the good work. I am already happy for you and proud of you.
