Little things that have made you happy or proud.
I drank water for lunch. It's more of a happy because the less coke zero I drink the less money I spend but for the past couple of days i've wanted soda over water. Today I wanted water over soda.

got naked in front of the boyfriend yesterday and he said he could tell I was loosing weight. I'm not even 10lbs down yet so I think he's full of it. but it was great of him to say.1

I didn't snack yesterday even though I wanted to.
Today I will try to keep my body and brain more occupied.
And even though no one has posted yet. I am happy to have everyone here. Maybe reading is enough to give you the help you need.2 -
I had downloaded this app and made an account on the 15th. Yesterday I started tracking. I told myself on the 16th I would start tracking but I ended up needing to grocery shop and find some foods first so that threw me off. I'm proud of myself for starting yesterday because it made today a lot easier.1

My little celebration of today is Bookphilosopher!
Welcome!!! and I had that same experience but just slightly different. I couldn't start Jan 1st because I needed groceries. couldn't get groceries until the 4th. So everything started on the 5th. Sunday to Sunday. Not that it really matters. I've had my weekly on different days before. But Sunday to sunday just feels nice.

Yesterday I went for a 20 minute walk and today I went for a 40 minute walk! Proud of myself because usually I don't exercise since I have hip pain on and off. I'm trying to get more into exercise on the days that I feel up for it.0
-
That is AWESOME! Back in 2008 I walked nearly a mile and a half each day for a few months. Since you have a problem with your hip I would suggest getting a cane and carrying it with you. I didn't use mine for the entire walk but it made spots a lot easier. I would also suggest a Glucosamine supplement. Sadly every one i have tried has always been a big pill. But if you can handle it, then it should help. I'm already bone on bone, but i have a skeletal disorder. It is best to try to prevent that if you can.
it's nice just to feel good and energetic. I don't know if it is the process of keeping my blood sugar in check or changing the source of energy breakdown in my food. I hope I don't get used to this because I don't want to take it for granted again.1 -
I'm glad you're starting to feel more energy! I bought a walking pad but it hasn't come in yet. Hopefully when it comes in, I can get some gentle walks in when I watch TV.0

This week's wins:
1. Went to all my classes
2. Didn't buy any unnecessary clothes even though I had to go to the store for a warmer coat and gloves. This is a big deal for me because I'm a bit of a clothing shopaholic. I saw a tank top and joggers I loved but I didn't even considering buying them since my goal is to buy no unnecessary clothing until June! Felt proud of myself for not buying them even though past me would have bought them because they were on sale.
3. After class tonight I planned out my meals for the next 21 days. I also wrote all my syllabuses in my planner and feel a general sense of preparedness. Very nice feeling.
4. I exercised four times this week for at least 15 minutes. This is unheard of for me in the past so I felt really happy that I'm working on my goal of trying to exercise for at least 15 minutes every day. I felt that the exercise boosted my mood so that will help me want to exercise more too I think.0 -
I stretched enough that i can actually count it as stretching. my back and neck hate it but hopefully they will get over it soon

My aunt took me to the dentist today and I went out to eat with her.1

I've restarted my journey to be healthier on Jan 6. I have had a little bit of a slow start, but have lost 4.2lbs so far this month!0
-
Congrats Mucky! and welcome to the group. I am happy you are here1
-
19 people in the group! Now if all of us would get on line and talk to each other!
So my aunt took me to the dentist monday because I needed a tooth repair. We went and had the most happy lunch then she took me home. I left the soda I had purchased in her car because she was supposed to come get me tuesday to get a pedicure. I ran out of soda in my house last night so I thought I would have to do without because my toes are still funky (the lady she takes care of is sick so we can't go out)... She brought the soda to my house! I have caffeine!!!
coke zero and dragonfruit powder is so yummy. everyone should try it.1 -
Hello. I have MS and have had a knee osteoscopy too. So where I was very active and very slim years ago, I now am not! BUT enough is enough and 2 weeks ago my husband and I both decided to do this together. Ive been building up my walking - today we walked 6 miles together. Granted, it’s a slow 2mph walk where I used to speed along at 4mph. But so what?! And thanks to the MFP app we’re both losing weight. We thought we’d been eating wisely before and it was soul destroying stepping on the scales and actually putting more weight on. We see now where we were going wrong, we weren’t eating well at all. We’re very optimistic.2

A six mile walk is unfathomable to me. Congratulations on achieving it! I'm not one to judge about how long it takes to do something. 2mph was probably my top speed when I was more capable of walking. Now I measure in minutes more than distance.
Don't be shy about showing us what you eat in the food section. I'm not overly adventurous myself. I find easy things to make and repeat. At least measuring portions has dropped my food bill0 -
My dad and step mom came by the house. This is the first time my step mom actually came to visit me because when i have lived close by I lived with my mother. Sadly they didn't get to stay long because of a family emergency (niece's mom's mom, not mine) and had to go pick up my niece from school. But it was a lovely 15 minutes. They also gave me money so I bought a walker with a seat. That way if I want to go shopping with the boyfriend in a place that doesn't have motorized carts, I can sit down and rest every so often.
They also delayed my breakfast (which i was having at lunch) So i ate dinner instead. Tonight I plan on eggs and bacon... Ibacon. so lets see if i can resist eating the entire pack.

My celebration was making it through the work week without completely blowing my calorie goals. I work in the not-for-profit sector in development, so fundraising for those not in the field. The federal funding freeze/release/but not really release of grants already approved, in our case some 2 years ago, has been insanity.
So after a 2.5 mile walk this morning, I built what I think will be a solid plan to get me through the next 100 days. The biggest thing is I am choosing hope. I got into this field because I believe together we can make a better world. And I still believe that. The sun being out today, in Northern lower Michigan also helps!!
Happy Saturday all.1 -
I can't imagine the type of stress your job entails. I don't even work and I still like to zone out to a bit of rain sounds from youtube. The desire to stress eat is a beast. Good that you have a working plan. And I think we can make the world a better place. or at least this part of the internet
Did some stretches in front of the boyfriend today. He didn't comment while I was doing them but after he said 'good. you can carry me around when I get older.'
....
I told him to lose weight. lol. Honestly I hate weighing more than he does. I think he's like 20lbs over weight. 180lbs. It's not that big of a deal except that I am effed the hell up. I'll be lucky to be able to move myself after we get older.1 -
I was using the wall to help me stretch while my boyfriend was making food in the kitchen. He asked me if i was trying to be sexy. We both laughed about it.1
-
My big win today was watching how much I ate from Popeyes today! I stayed within my calorie goals! Yay!2

Woohooo! Way to go Shel!1
