Chilly 12º above this morning. Probably snow tomorrow.
Got busy yesterday-- out to Bible study, where one woman there has been battling cancer five years or more, and now it seems she is beginning to lose the battle. Sad. After bible study (and leader's leftover chocolate birthday cake--why do I go to this thing?!!) I worked on piano awhile--things are starting to come together-- and then to EX's for DS's dinner invite. He made chicken fried steak... who invented this food? Won't get my cholesterol tested for awhile, for sure. Helped EX with some water damage from steam radiator overflow -- she forgot to shut off the fill valve on the boiler the other day. Water soaked wall-to-wall carpet upstairs, came through ceilings downstairs, dribbling out of light fixtures. Good grief.
Planning to go north in March for Can-Am dogsled races in Fort Kent, Maine. Will help with ham radio stuff at a race checkpoint. Races go from Fri night set-up, to Tuesday for stragglers in the 250 mile race. Start is Sat AM. Though might get cancelled unless they get enough snow, been a lean winter there. Never done this, although I am enchanted by dogsleds. One of the radio checkpoints (not mine) is a fishing shack with propane heater you get to by snowmobile, where you hole up for 3 days waiting for sleds to come and go. Mine is a firehouse in Portage, a tiny village middle of nowhere. First checkpoint for the 250 mile race, so only have to be there Sat to Sunday.
Lee, I noticed they have several vet stations along the way. Local excitement in a place where river ice-out is the other most exciting thing.

Good morning gentlemen.
Visit with the neurologist for Rita went well, I think. He still thinks migraines are the most likely cause of her dizziness. He ordered CT scan of the blood vessels supplying her brain, despite the low probability of that being the problem. He also prescribed a new migraine preventive medicine. No side effects from this one, but it requires injection of the med once a month. It comes in a self-injector, like an epi pen. We'll pick up the prescription tomorrow and a nurse will do the first injection as a demonstration. After that, I'll stick Rita.
Taking the Tacoma in for 5,000-mile service appointment this morning. Then DW has errands for us to run this afternoon.0 -
Good morning!
I hope the new meds help Rita.
Connie has some swelling in her retina. Eye doc thinks it is diabetes related. GP does not. Her A1C was 6.5 with Metformin. She keeps getting these symptoms, like the IBS, that the docs just want to skim past and give meds or a pat on the head. Does anyone have experience with a functional MD that tries to get to the root of ailments? Connie is going to have a test for her carotid artery as suggested by her GP. She did have slightly elevated BP.
We had frozen rain this morning. Collin got home about 3:00 a.m., and he said it was starting to get slick for him. He drove more slowly. Our deck is like an ice rink. I let Frankie out the front door while I stood on the stoop. We are supposed to hit 40 today, so it will melt during the day.
Getting old ain't for sissies.
Have a great day!

Good Morning,
Mike, just like me when you get to where you really want to manage weight you will; I'm just not there yet.
Side effect of Metformin is IBS in many per Joanne's doctor.
Cause of migraines many times are a mystery
DW wants to make a Costco run so after bible study we will head north about 40 miles.

Good Morning
Cold snap continues here. A big hail storm blew through this morning. Turned the road white for a while. Then it turned to rain. Yesterday we enjoyed our weekly Humphrey Bogart movie. Yesterday was the classic “The Big Sleep”. Not much planned today, but lots to do.0 -
I too hope the new meds do the trick for Rita. Gosh I'd hate to have to stick my DW but if it works well bless!
RE Connie I guess in general I would trust the eye doc (Ophthalmologist) over a GP any day for the possibility of diabetic changes in the eye. They see those conditions every day.
I guess I would listen to both docs but kinda favor the eye doc. There are other things that can cause retinal swelling to be sure like glaucoma/eye pressure which I have had.
No frozen rain here but we had not only snow on the beaches along Northern Oregon coast but we had lowest level mixed rain/snow and some also some showers of big wet snowflakes where I live near PDX. Probably sticking better above 500 feet and my house is at 250 feet.
I have an appointment with my radiation oncologist (prostate radiation follow-up) today at the hospital which is at 500 feet so we will see if some wet snow there. taking my Subaru with 3 Peak rated all weather snow tires on it. It handled ok in a blizzard over Mt Hood once so no problems just being careful.
Cheers!!0
