    February Goals

    Mileage Tracked: 60 miles
Apple Challenge: Reach my "move" goal 16 times.

With it being a short month, I'm keeping my mileage low again. Improved Health put out her February Monly guide last night, and I was looking that over. There hasn't been much new from Jessica Smith, and it's been over a month from Walk at Home's YouTube page. I've looked at breaking out the Miracle Miles DVDs before and will see if I can build up to 3 miles again. I was really in a happy space being able to do 3 miles.
I've gotten the Gazzell a few times but mostly as a side note while Ry and I are talking in that room, so it being on it hasn't been a focused event.

We saw a new rheumatologist for Ry yesterday and walked away with orders for 3 different X-rays and 23 labs. This place is doing a much deeper dive into areas than the last place did. So, fingers crossed, we might be a better path to answers. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

@Deeder522 thanks for getting this started!! Good news for Ry and the deeper dive. Hopefully they are able to figure something better out. And good job on the gazelle. Sometimes it is the overall movement that is the most important.

The Walk at Home app just added a new walk, so hopefully it hits YouTube soon.

I will be trying some more Garmin challenges this month. I have really gotten into these!! So, here they are:
    15 hours of recorded walks
    100k steps by Feb 14
20 recorded activities of 20 minutes or more
300,000 steps. I would like to get even more, though it is a short month.

    Happy walking!!

Feb Goals: 3 mile+ walk every other day, Log every day, & exceed the 103.4 miles I did in January.
Feb 1-Logged Y: Total Garmin Miles: 2.9 (UGH! so close!)
    Feb 2-Snowshoeing 1mile: Logged Y: Total Garmin Miles: 3.3
I am over the moon about last month and raring to do as well this month! In fact, I am going to try to exceed January's total miles even though Feb is a shorter month. It will mean I have to limit my sitting. It is not like there is nothing to do around here.
I went snowshoeing with my son yesterday and I DID IT!!!! We went for a mile and although I did not keep up (I am 5'1" and he is 6'2" soooooo), I did do the whole trail that he did, including hills that are unavoidable here. Since we have the snowshoes, I am going to do more of this this winter to build up my aerobic strength.
@deeder I am so happy for Ryan! He has struggled for so long that anyone who takes a deep dive to help him has to be a saint! I hope it also helps with his disability claim. I also like 3 mile workouts. They are usually 40-45 minutes, which is long enough to make me feel like I have done something, but not so long I feel like I have wasted time "just walking." Having said that, my ultimate goal is to get back to doing 5 mile walks with Leslie at least once a week. But that is down the road for sure.
@megd44-I looked at the Garmin Challenges this month for the first time. I really want to do the Step Challenge, but I had 31 days in January and only managed 206,842 steps. So, I think I will wait until March when I have 30 days to do a step challenge. Also, I want to snowshoe in Feb and that increases my cardio, but not my steps and March will be iffy for snowshoeing, so I'll be back to steps. I want to do more of those challenges though!
Tomorrow we are going to DMV to renew my son's license and then to Lake Placid to snowshoe and then to the Ice Palace in Saranac Lake, so I will not be home much tomorrow to post. I should be back on Wednesday though. Keep on Walking!

Well, I didn't. A short 15-minute walk/arms with Leslie that I found on YouTube. I took it a little easy since it's been a while but I made it and it felt sooo good. I feel good enough from today to move my walk time up tomorrow.
To make both feel better about steps, I logged 152,168 steps in January.

@zichab i love snowshoeing!! We just got another six inches or so and I am hoping to get out tomorrow.

@Deeder522 some of the WAH with arms are killer!! Even the short ones.

I did a short mix and match today. Yesterday did too much. One of my new stress releases has been power cleaning. So, yesterday cleaned, Rich (hubby) and I relocated my workout area, rearranged the "living" room, then cleaned all off that and cleared out two more boxes of stuff for the family yard sale this summer. After work today reconfigured my home office, with cleaning of course. I'll sleep well tonight, lol

I did 1 mile from WAH Burn Belly, Buns, & Thighs. I forgot about this one.
I warmed up enough yesterday that we had a bit of a melt. Today, however, we're back in the 20s. We're watching for possible freezer rain for tomorrow night into Thursday. I would like it to stay south of me as I have to drive to Hollnad, Thursday afternoon for a client.

@megd44 Cleaning can be a workout all its own. ๐Ÿ™‚

Another 1 mile with Leslie this morning followed by 10 min Arms on YouTube.

Yesterday ended up with me figuring out why a client's e-mail and website were down. We don't manage either for them but we will be doing so in the future. The backend of the website is a mess. Nothing is in the same spot so I'm having to gather a bunch of things and then figure out the road to connect everything in 1 spot. Fun times. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I agree that cleaning should be exercise @Deeder522 just like shopping at Costco!! Took a rest day yesterday, then did a two mile walk this morning, Fast Walk 01. We also did a team lunch out, so walked about 1/2 mile round trip. It was cold, but sunny and awesome with a group. We may get freezing rain tonight, so not sure what tomorrow will look like.

Ry needed some assistance this morning so my workout got pushed to this afternoon. 15 minutes on the Gazelle.

We got some of the freezing rain but it wasn't thick, thank goodness.

Yesterday, we had some emergency work pop up from a client which has now led to us managing their e-mail and website. This will include us launching a new website for them as well. Just a 2-person operation but after me digging deep into a few things found that they were double paying for services and paying for some they didn't even use. We'll be saving them a little more than $400 yearly going forward.
I had a client reschedule their appointment today so that freed me up for the day.
Tomorrow I have a late appointment and some work over the weekend.

I didn't sleep that great last night. Strong wind kept me up for a while and then it was sleep on and off through the rest of the night. This morning I did get 15 minutes in with Jules from Improved Health.

I'll be taking it easy this morning, if I can, before I meet up with a friend for lunch today.

I hope you 2 have a good Friday to start the weekend off right!

@Deeder522 that wind was crazy! We will have some big time clean up happening here. No damage to our house or cars, and this way we have a start on firewood for next year.

Started 2 mile classic walk and Rich asked me if I could give him a hand. Very unusual at 6:30 and he never interrupts a workout. He dropped a Costco size brand new fabric softener. So, I scrubbed the walls and floor in the laundry room instead. Then headed into my office. Did get some good steps at the grocery store.

    Looking forward to the weekend.

I tried out the WALK, RUN, LIFT Dvd I got a while back. 20 minutes with Rocky & Nick had me moving at a nice pace. I didn't pull out the miracle band for the lift part just used my arms to do the movements without the resistance.

Looks like the cold weather is settling in for another week. I'm having lunch with a friend today at Texas Roadhouse. I'm going to try & not stuff myself with rolls. I have some client work to do this afternoon before I settle in for what I hope will be a cozy evening.

@megd44 Costco size Fabric Softener explosion! At least it smelled pretty.

The Walk Run Lift series is a great one. Will be adding some of these to my March rotation for sure. I did Burn to the Beat again today. Sweaty and super breathless. Darn dogs decided to lay right where I needed to be so the added obstacles were interesting.

Starting to snow here and chilly. I have seen everything from 2 inches to 9, so we'll see how much. Glad to be staying home today. Going to work on my chores list and have friends coming for dinner later.

It has been a while since I was able to do this DVD and it felt great!!!! I need to get back on it now that my son is back in the Netherlands and get some miles in or I will not beat January!!!! :grumble: But, "I'm ON IT" as my grandson says, who use to watch Paw Patrol.
Oh my gosh @megd44!!! You must have a very soft and lovely smelling laundry room!!! Actually, this sounds like something I would do, so I have great sympathy for Rich!!! I have never used snow shoes before and it was basically like hiking here except on different trails since we can snow shoe across streams. We actually crossed one of our favorite hiking trails so I got to see some new sights in a different direction. Brandon (my son) wants my goal to be hiking up a small mountain here that we climb every summer. LOL I am doing OK on ADK hills, but I am not ready for an ADK mountain yet. Maybe next year? Also, we love it when we get firewood from trees coming down over the winter as well. We have mostly spruce and hemlock (soft wood we can't really burn inside), but every once in a while a birch, beech or maple comes down and we do a happy dance! So far, they have all missed the house and garage, knock on logs!
@deeder522 Good for you saving your client money!!! I see ads all the time that help you stop paying for services you do not use and I always wonder why people do not see the charges on their credit card. On a website though, you might not see the charges for things that are part of your site, but no longer needed. I saw a Walk Run Lift video on Leslie's the Walk at Home site and never previewed it. I might do that one once I begin to focus more on strength training rather than getting rid of the pounds that made me over weight, after the Doctor's office shrunk me down to 5'1"!!!!!
We are under a NWS Warning for "heavy snow." We have almost 3 feet so what is some more-ya know?? Dennis and I are going out for our 50th Anniversary in spite of the NWS!!!! They are predicting 4-8 and we decided our 4WD pick up can handle that, so we are going!!! Superbowl Sunday so I'll be back on Monday!!! Have a great weekend you two!!!

Hello! I'm new to this group, glad to be here, and just now getting around to introducing myself. My goals for February are on the simpler side for now: 1) to ease back into exercising again, and 2) to eat at least 5 servings of fruit/vegetables per day.
Last week I got some walks in by helping my dad out by walking his dog when he couldn't take her himself. I felt like those walks helped me more than Dottie (the dog)! But I know it helped us both :)
Wow, some of you have a lot of snow! I love snow (I love winter!) and I always wish we could get more snow here than we do. I'll keep hoping...
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! (as someone already mentioned here). My town is in a buzz of excitement, as we are one of the teams in the Super Bowl. Exciting day:)

Welcome @Elfirose33 there are not a ton of active folks, but I think you'll find the group supportive and encouraging. It is great that you are starting and I am sure your goals will grow as you make progress.

I did the new 5k with bands on the app. Like this one a lot. Now I am cleaning the house while Rich is plowing our snow. Seems like another 8 inches. Our road hasn't been touched yet, so glad tomorrow is a work at home day.

@megd44 Thank you for the welcome:) I'm good with just a few folks being active here, and I like a small but mighty group! The last group I was in ended recently, sadly, after many years of going strong. So thank you to those of you here who have kept this group going for so long!
I've never been a dedicated walker, being mostly a group workout class go-er at my gym over the years, so I'm inspired here to get a little walking program going for myself. I guess I should've also included in my February Goals my goal to return back to my group class workouts. I need to ease back into these workouts because I was sick, and then recovering, pretty much the whole month of January. Walking is the perfect way to ease back into everything :)
There is now snow in our forecast! Fingers crossed it will come on Wednesday as they predict.

    February Goals

    Mileage Tracked: 20 / 60 miles
Apple Challenge: Reach my "move" goal 16 times. 7 / 16

I took yesterday as a rest day. Today I have an early morning appointment so the workout will be later in the day. We aren't digging out from snow at the moment. It's found in place in the yards but the roads are clear. It's just cold, as I type it's about 15โ„‰.

I didn't participate in any Super Bowl festivities but I did post a picture for Superb Owl Sunday which was also yesterday. ๐Ÿฆ‰
However, this week is National Jello Week. I thought you all should know that. Celebrate appropriately. ๐Ÿฎ

Welcome, @Elfirose33 ! We're so glad you decided to join us in our little group. I think that based on your statement that you're south of us Michigan and New York folks. We'll be happy to share our winter weather reports with you.

@megd44 Work from Home day is every day for me. ๐Ÿคฃ I own my own business and I generally go out to see clients. Rarely do they come to me.

@zichab Happy 50th Anniversary to you and Dennis. It is such a huge milestone nowadays. Ry & I will celebrate 27 years together next month. I go by that instead of our actual wedding because we "dated" for nearly 10 years before getting engaged.

@Deeder522 Thank you for the warm welcome:) Yes, you're right, I'm south of you all hanging out here in Missouri :) It's hit or miss with the snow for us here. Thank you so much for sharing your winter weather reports, I'd love that! Good to know about that and the national Jello week fun facts :)

Happy Anniversary! Yes, it is truly a milestone these days. Mark and I will celebrate 30 years this October.

Welcome @Elfirose33! Please do not feel bad about starting slowly! We all have our slow starts, especially after being sick! Walking with us will get you back to your group class workouts-no doubt about it!!! We are very encouraging and supportive!!!
I totally missed the Super Bowl!!!! :explode: Our power went off at 10:00 AM and it was not restored until 10:15 PM!!! :grumble: No oven meant no Super Bowl snacks either AND we had to go to the neighbor's house and start a fire in their wood stove to keep their house from freezing as they are in South Carolina! Tending 3 fires (2 in our house and one in theirs) kept us very busy from about 2:30 on! My sister kind of kept me up on the score on IMessage, but it is not the same as watching it. After it was about over we remembered that we have internet in our truck and we could have streamed it there on my husband's iPad!!! We always forget that!!! Sorry about the Chiefs @Elfirose33! Something happened that is sweet about living in a (very) small town. The Fire Department came by to be sure everyone on our road was OK during the outage. It was super nice and so thoughtful of them.
Congratulations @Deeder522 & @Elfirose33!!!! 27 and 30 years is wonderful!!! I am always so annoyed when divorce is all that seems to be talked about while so many of us have over 25 year marriages! We need some credit for the fact that our husbands (bless them) are still alive!!!!! There have been days ......!
Oh my gosh @Elfirose33! I just looked at the weather to check our snow prediction for Thursday and you are getting 6-12" in KC tomorrow night!!!!! I'm in the Adirondack Mountains of NY and we are only getting a total of 8" from that same storm and a little clipper one on Tuesday!!! Missouri will beat NY in snowfall!!! Congratulations to you!!! Woo Hoo!!!! Enjoy!!!
My plan is to be here tomorrow as I will be out all day on Wednesday! I really do not like to workout two days in a row, but sometimes, you have no choice! If I manage it, I'll see you all tomorrow!

I dropped down to 2 miles today because I was stacking wood for an hour. We brought in wood so we are ready for the big storm we are all supposed to get! Notice how the amounts keep dropping? :ohwell: In any event, it is going to get very cold here next week and we do not like having to get wood when the temps drop below 20F. Enjoy the snow-however much you get where you are! ;wink:
I'll be at MD appts and shopping tomorrow so I will see you all on Thursday! Keep On walking!

15-minute-70s music walk with Jules from Improved Health followed by 10-minute Arms from Fit by Mik on Youtube.

We are looking at 3-6" starting tomorrow afternoon. I had to watch the forecast a few times so I could better arrange my appointment on Wednesday as it's across town. I don't want to be out driving when the snow starts getting heavy.

Congrats to everyone on their anniversaries. We will hit 26 in June. And I agree that there us not enough coverage on the marriages that last. But I think a lot of that has to do with people not wanting to admit that making it is not always easy. It takes commitment, prioritizing, dedication, resolve, learning to let little things go, respect. And lots of laughter, fun and love.

I go into our office 2 or 3 days a week, usually. But that means I get to go to an awesome building in Traverse and see amazing people. And on some days, like today, have a great lunch out at a fabulous farm to table restaurant ๐Ÿ˜€. Supposed to go in tomorrow, but will track the storm before I make that call. They just upped the amount expected so super glad I don't have to go in Thursday or Friday. And the temp is dropping quickly.

So, yesterday I did several of the mix and match videos Leslie has, totaled about 2 miles. Today I did Joey Thurmans easy band and then a one from the Walk and Talk series from the app that was a mile. I also walked almost a mile to lunch and back. I am optimistic that I'll hit my 300,000 steps this month.

Hope everyone makes it through this system!

1 Mile from Walk Away the Pounds off YouTube this morning. The video details said that the DVD was from 1999. So I guess is was a Way Back Workout for me this morning. ๐Ÿคฃ

This morning seems to be the calm before the storm. It's rather peaceful at the moment. I hope to return from a client before the heavy snow sets in. This means I'll probably make a quick run to Meijer for a few last-minute items. I might as well as I have to pop into Best Buy and grab something for another job.

    Stay warm, friends.

Took a rest day yesterday. Today I did one of the new Walk a 5k at Home from the app/web page. They now have 5 different versions. I liked this one, it used bands but one of the leaders drive me nuts. Hoping she isn't in all of them.

Looks like the snow finally stopped. Haven't gone out but guessing another 4 to 6 inches and up to 16 degrees. We saw -6 on the morning drive yesterday!!

    Stay warm all.

Well, since I did the 70s music workout on Tuesday I figured that I'd do the 80s music workout today. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
20 minutes with Jules and all the 80s classics.

I've got 2-2.5" of snow on the ground. Not that bad really. We'll see if the Lake Effect machine kicks in next. Colder temp and more snow showers are still in the forecast for the next few days.

Today should be a recovery day for me work-wise. I need Ry to take a break as well. He's been having to do a lot of higher-end thinking which can cause him extra fatigue. I'm hoping he'll get into his studio and let his creative mind take over. He usually feels better after that. He's been playing around creating a new song after his last single was released in December.

I switched yesterday's workout to today. We were at the hospital on Wednesday because I needed another mammogram and ultrasound for a "spot." Lord when will this technology be able to differentiate between fibroids and tumors?????? They scare you to death over things you have had since you were 12 years old! I wanted to skip it, but you know if I do, it will be the real thing! :grumble: Anyway, while we were there, Dennis' cardiologist called and wanted to see him right away and made an appointment for Thursday during the snow storm! :ohwell: Dennis has been dizzy and has fainted a few times so he wore a monitor for 2 weeks and the results show that he needs a pacemaker. He was a little rattled by that so I spent most of yesterday calming him down and reminding him that he will feel tons better when his heart is back to beating like it should. Long story short, I needed a work out TODAY badly!!!!!
We got 4 inches in the Thursday storm and some rain, which turned to ice of course. It was 6 this morning when I got up and they are predicting 5-10" of snow for the storm that is coming in tomorrow and lasting until Monday. I think MI is getting it first so if you two could please suck most of the snow out of it, I'd be grateful. 3 inches plenty! We are getting to roof shoveling territory as it is! I hate that job!!!
WOW @megd44 You are doing great with your steps!!! I have 86,942 so far this month, but no way I could make it to 300,000 ... yet! My goal this month is to beat the 206,842 I had last month. I am thinking by April, I might be able to get to 300,000. Maybe that should be April's goal!
@Deeder522 I miss Leslie's old videos and the walkers she used to have on them. I have one with Mary Kay that I use once in awhile. The newer ones with her jumps and mini squats are just not the same. I have one from the old Collage Video online store that has a 2006 copyright and Leslie has straight reddish hair. I did not even do online workouts until 2012 and she was new to me then.
I think I may be here tomorrow to keep with my 4 day a week goal. Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday I did Joey Thurman's Easy Strength with Bands and then a couple of the mix and match with Leslie.

Today I did Burn to the Beat 3 mile version. Then went and helped hubby bring in 3 big loads of wood.

I get what you mean @zichab with the jumping, mini squats, etc. I like it sometimes but sometimes I also want more walking. And some days a gentler pace, hence the mix and match.

@zichab the mammogram an fibroid/cysts/something else is scary. I have my doctor order the mammo and ultrasound at the same time. Makes it way less scary. Sorry to hear about Dennis and will send lots of positive karma your way.

We got about 6 inches of snow overnight and it is still coming down. The predictions are all over the place, from 4 more to 12 more. And then another 4 to 8 Sunday night into Monday late afternoon. We are way above the annual average. But, the lakes/rivers are still super low,so I'll take it.

    Stay warm and safe all.

You know @megd44 I think I will do that for my annual or semi-annual (I have not yet decided) mammogram. There is no point in going through this every time and clearly, they can't tell from one or the other alone. I need to have it done again in 6 months to be sure, but after that I am backing off on this. My problem is low iron, not breast cancer. Let's move on people!
I did my 4 walks this week, but had to back off from the 3 mile walks to the 2 mile ones which is OK considering the stuff I have dealt with this week. Next week will be a bit better, but I will be doing colonoscopy prep on Sunday so I'll need my works outs done by then. I am about over MDs let me tell you!
I think Traverse City is getting the brunt of this storm in MI as Grand Rapids seems to be outside of it. We have 3 warnings-1 for 6-12" of snow, one for high winds gusting to 60MPH and one for Ice accumulation of 1"+! The National Weather Service has been busy today!! Have a good weekend!

A couple of rest days to deal with some household cleaning.
My area of GR has gotten off pretty well with the snowfall. Everything is covered, but it's all manageable. My son has snow-blowed only 1x so far and has done so with a quick shoveling while his car warmed up. Currently, big flakes are drifting down.

Ryan surprised me with a delivery of Roses for Valentine's Day. So I made steak and lobster tails last night. We've got 2 days with clients and 2 days of doctor visits this week. Plus, we both have to have labs done. I'm hoping to pre-plan my workout this week so I don't have to figure it out 1st thing in the morning when I'm still blurry-eyed. ๐Ÿคฃ
