Good morning!
Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was exactly what I needed. Just rest and relaxation and some grocery shopping thrown in.
I am preparing for Super Bowl Sunday. Going to make Cincinnati or Sky Line Chili! Bought all the ingredients and will probably make it ahead of time on Saturday since the recipe I have suggests making it a day ahead.
We got around two inches of snow here last night. The roads look clear but the grass and trees are covered again. Looks pretty!
I have to hop on our 10:00am ET weekly team call so I am going to run. Hope you have a great day!!

@Meghan509 Glad you had a nice weekend! Thank you for starting the new monthly thread. We are going to have our usual little Super Bowl party with meatballs, chips and dip, and other snacks. Chili is a good idea... maybe I will make some soup or something to go with the snacks. I am making bread, too.
The temperature is supposed to be 70° F here today. This weekend was almost as warm. We walked the dog and had the doors open to air out the house for a bit. Blow out the man-stink. LOL
Currently sitting in my office with the heater on and the diffuser going trying to get the motivation to exercise... I guess I better do that!

You ever have one of those days where you have something that you want to finish, but people keep interrupting you with other things? Yes, I have gotten a lot done this morning, but not the ONE thing that I wanted to get done. I hope today is just crazy for me!
Today the temperature has dropped like a rock and there is a chance of rain this afternoon/tonight. I am picking up a rotisserie chicken on the way home. Chicken with some sort of rice or potatoes sounds extremely warm and yummy today.

I still have not completed my 2024 Performance Review. That was due back on January 6. Not quite a month late.
Your menu for SB sounds great @KateNkognito!! 70 degrees F - I am jelly! LOL Today we are sitting at 40 degrees F and I feel like we are similar to your weather as it is supposed to get pretty cold as the day wears on. Darn wind chill!
Glad you are having a somewhat productive day. Yes, I know what you mean. So many interruptions so I do the best I can. I am down to seven unread emails - that is the least I have had in while. LOL

Well, it took over an hour to get to work (usually a 20-25 minute drive), got here and then couldn't get into my computer. Also, I seriously was considering staying home because my reproductive organ is trying to end me prematurely. Now, I am staring down the barrel of a very large thing I have to do. This is not my day. I am having pizza for lunch. And probably chocolate.

Ugh. I feel you with work stuff. I have felt so buried lately with work and like I just can't catch up for the life of me. Today feels different. Weird. Yes I did get a lot of stuff done yesterday but today just seems better. I had a good nights sleep last night. I was so tired that I went to bed at 9:30pm and fell right to sleep. Today is also less busy people wise. Tomorrow we are supposed to get snow and wet stuff here, so it should be low key here with less people. Just checked the weather and it says a wintery mix with one to two inches expected. Hmmm....
Well if you do have pizza, I hope you enjoy it. I was feeling hunger pains this AM at work so I decided to have a Kind bar. It is what it is. At the end of the day, 150 calories won't kill me.
Hope your day is better. Look at that, a long weekend is coming up for us soon with President's Day on Monday, February 17! I am taking Friday, February 14 as a floating holiday too, so it is an even longer weekend. Woot!

@Meghan509 Yesterday was another crazy day, but today already feels better. I have the big part of what I need to do knocked out, today is mostly double checking and adding a bit to what I have. I had pizza and chocolate and hit the golden arches on the way home. Not my most proud dietary moment, but it is what it is. I am jealous of your long weekend! We don't have a day off until May. :O I will probably take at least one in March and possibly a couple at the beginning of May.
Snow and cold are expected next week here. I am going to take home my computer and stockpile some work, just in case.

Ahhh I figured you would be off for President's Day! Sorry about that. I also found out yesterday that our Salt Lake City, UT office is open on that day. Who knew.
Yes, snow and ice here today so I am HOME. I like it. Future snow coming Saturday in to Sunday and then next week Tuesday and Thursday, so I will need to figure out if I will be home. Could be that I only go in on Wednesday? That will feel strange!
Tomorrow night BF and I are celebrating our dating anniversary (it's Saturday) so we are going out to a local Italian place that we like. One of my colleagues gave us a $150 gift card to the restaurant. So generous and so nice. Can't wait for dinner tomorrow night!
Feeling a little less stressed, but I do have work to do that I don't feel like doing. UGH. Today feels like Friday but it is Thursday!

So we have some more snow coming this weekend and next week... First storm is Saturday night in to Sunday morning. Five inches of snow expected! Bah. Then next week, we shall see how it all pans out but looking like Tuesday PM, Wednesday, and Thursday all might be snowy! Crazy...
Got the grocery shopping done during lunch today so that is done. Got Super Bowl situated too. Might just pick up a little more beer and wine tomorrow afternoon some time before the snow comes, otherwise nothing planned but relaxing and staying out of the cold and snow!

It was a later night here, but I managed to sleep okay. I really wish they would have the Super Bowl on a Saturday night but BF thinks they won't because of the cities wanting the maximum revenue possible. Everybody would leave on Sunday vs. staying through until Monday.
We had a nice evening on Friday, celebrating our anniversary! The food was yummy and the service was good. We were smart and had them wrap up our dessert to go, since we were so full. LOL
We got snow here Saturday PM in to Sunday AM - we think a good six to eight inches. Looks pretty (for now) or until all the animals come through!
Yesterday AM we booked a vacation to Florida the week of May 5 to May 9. My Mom's birthday is May 4 and mine is May 9 so it is nice that we will be able to celebrate with her again. It is kind of our yearly visit down there to see her. This time one of my BF's best friends and his wife is going to come with us. They are our travel buddies. We were with them in Curacao last year and they are like us with no kiddos, so easier to get away.
Hope you have a good week. I am taking off Friday and Monday is a holiday, so a little break coming up for me. I am excited.

@Meghan509 I am glad you had such a nice evening for your anniversary! Super jealous of your trip south. Although, I might be in Florida at the same time, if my kid qualifies for nationals.
We are supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow starting this evening into tomorrow. I am sort of glad. I need a little break.
I woke up around 4 or so in the morning to the dog standing up and making a weird sound, but he laid back down, so I thought he had had a bad dream or something... until my foot hit the wet spot a little while later. He felt really bad. I didn't yell at him at all since he is 18, has cancer, a heart condition, is blind and deaf. I will stop and get him some diapers to wear at night on my way home. This is the third or fourth time it has happened, but it hasn't been as bad before. Poor old man.

Thanks! Ooh I hope you get to go to Florida too! That's great!! Early May is a good time because the kids are still in school and the snow birds are on their way back out, so it is kind of quiet and the weather is usually pretty nice. Not TOO hot.
Awww poor old doggie. Life is tough. I feel for him. Good idea for the diapers. Hugs to doggie.
Good luck with the snow. We are north of the band that is coming through this evening, so for now we should be okay. Wednesday night in to Thursday is the next one but I took a look and we are still looking okay. Maybe an inch or rain but that is it.

Today is going well. Less busy which is nice. Getting stuff crossed off my list and am not feeling as overwhelmed as December/January.

I am all snuggled in and it is snowing outside my window. I love that I can work remotely on days like this. I wouldn't want to do it all the time, but when there is bad weather, I like it. @Meghan509 I hope the bad stuff stays away from you! We have about an inch of light, powdery snow. It is supposed to keep going most of the day. 2-4 inches projected.

We got a little bit last night, maybe an inch or so on what is existing. It was the nice fluffy type of snow when we removed it from the car. So pretty! Took pictures for my sister down in Florida since I know she likes the snow. She wrote back saying they are sunny and in the 80's F. LOL
My commute in was not bad at all. The only slippery part was my driveway! Most of the schools around here only had a two hour delay.
We have more weather coming tonight but again, I don't think there will be anything to worry about.
Had my yearly review with my manager last night and it went very well! Makes me happy.

Snow here didn't amount to much. Schools were closed, but the university was open. My eldest was a bit salty about having to go to class.
On the health front, my hormones are leveling out and my reproductive system has decided to give me a stay of execution. On a positive front, I broke through the plateau I have been at since Thanksgiving. I am almost 25 pounds lost. 35 more to go.

Aww darn I know what you mean about hoping for a snow day and then bam, still have to go to work or school!
Glad your hormones are getting better! I am officially in menopause or have gone over a year now since the last time of the month. It is nice not dealing with that and so far minor menopause symptoms such as joint pain in my knees (feeling better lately), super duper dry skin, and sleeping not as good. When your estrogen levels drop it affects your sleeping. I went 50+ years sleeping eight hours a night with no issues. Lately I am more restless and wake up easier. This morning when the alarm went off I was dead asleep. UGH. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and over the weekend.
We were supposed to be going to friend's house on Saturday night for dinner but they cancelled on us this AM, they have the flu! Yuck. Looking forward to a quiet day off tomorrow and a long weekend. No plans at the moment. Especially since we might be getting MORE SNOW on Saturday night. UGH.

Tomorrow we are supposed to get a quick little storm front through. Rain/snow mix. Next Tuesday is looking like it will be pretty nasty. They are talking 6-10 inches of snow, at least. Yikes! I will be taking my computer home, just in case. My senior in high school is getting a little nervous about the number of snow days. He doesn't want to have to go back to school after graduation.

I made it to work after forgetting something at home. Fortunately, I remembered when I was only about half a mile away. Fingers crossed that that is as Monday as today gets. Tomorrow is looking like a pretty hefty snowstorm, and then it is supposed to be COLD for the rest of the week. I will be working from beneath my toasty warm blanket at home. I already have everything ready to take home and we did all the things this weekend to prepare. Fun times! 😁

Had Friday off and yesterday we were closed and today I am still digging out my email box. Been at it since 9:00am and I still have 35 emails unread. Sigh... Wanted to fill you in with my drama. Saturday we got dumped with quite a bit of snow. Sunday was mostly rain and then the wind and the ice came...
Had a nice Friday / Saturday / Sunday. Monday is a different story. Got woken up at 2:00am by a noise. Power had gone off. Figured okay, hopefully it comes back on soon because it is COLD and windy. We wake up Sunday AM and come down stairs and see a cop with flashing lights on in front of our house on our street. Long story short, power line at the corner down and since it is a live wire it was still on fire and burning a hole in the pole and around it.
Got in touch with the electric company and they confirmed there was a big outage. Come to find out thousands of us in CT were without power yesterday. Power company came out in the morning and had trucks there working on it from say 10:00am on. We thought about reaching out to my family or going to BF's parents house but figured well since they are working on it, hopefully it will be fixed soon. Spent ALL DAY bouncing around between a diner, the car with heat cranked, Dunkin Donuts, etc. trying to keep warm (and sane). Once the sun went down it got even colder and that was when I had had enough. Trucks were there with cops, etc. all this time. Went to dinner and was hoping that they would stick to their 8:15pm restoration time. No such luck. They sent a new text with an updated time of 1:15am. UGH. We went inside, bundled up, each took a Benadryl and went to bed (or tried). It was soooo cold. Definitely 40 degrees F in our house. It is old and we have crappy windows. I must have fallen asleep when I look up and my alarm clock is back on! 10:00pm power was back! All in all, yesterday was pretty lousy but we made the best of it and thankfully we were safe and the house didn't have any damage. Sigh...
@KateNkognito stay safe and warm!! I heard there is a storm coming this way Wednesday in to Thursday but we are not expected to get any snow, just clouds. I am done with snow and winter. It is supposed to be STUPID cold here this week (teens at night) otherwise we should be okay for the next ten days. Fingers crossed.

Well, it sounds like you had quite the adventure, @Meghan509! Glad you are all warmed back up again! It is 2° F here with a windchill of -20. It is snowing and the wind is howling out of the north at 20-30 mph. I am tucked safe and warm at home. I am really praying our power doesn't go out. Our house is like yours and would be down to freezing in no time. We have a fireplace for emergencies, though. I hope you were able to tame your inbox! I am about done with my day. Going to bake something for dinner, not sure what, but I want the extra heat in the house.0

Yikes that is COLD! We woke up to the teens today and our driveway unfortunately is still a skating rink. So worried we are going to fall, but just have to go with the flow until it warms up and can melt. UGH.
Right now we are sitting at a sunny 29 degrees F here in southern Connecticut.
Work has been super busy but I will get there and it will all get done. Good news is we have an open Executive Assistant position here (our other colleague decided to retire) and we had a great candidate yesterday. Another one we are seeing shortly and her resume looks good too. We shall see! We also have a temp here helping out with the reception / office manager duties and she is one of those people who likes to be moving or doing at all times. She's cleaned and tidied and tossed so much that you wouldn't recognize our office now.
Otherwise, just plugging along here. Inbox currently sitting at 26 unread, which feels like not much change from yesterday! LOL

I am home again today. I am currently super bored because the bulk of what I do requires access to the file room in the office. Hopefully we will be in tomorrow. I did get a few things done around the house today, which is nice. I also made a super quick and easy and amazing loaf of bread at lunch. The dog is also really happy to have me home. He slept next to me in the sun all day. The chickens are all nestled in their coop. It is currently 7°F out. Supposed to be 60+ next week. Crazy springtime weather!

So yesterday was a bit of a shoot show. I literally was not able to find one minute to even look at my personal email account, let alone log in here. Sigh... Had two one hour long calls that sucked up two hours of my day and then at the end of the day I had another call that was only fifteen minutes long but what I don't understand is how do people get their work done if they are on calls all day!?
Sounds like you had a crazy one too @KateNkognito. Hope today is better. HAPPY FRIDAY! Hope the weather is better and you can get some work done. That stinks... We had a dusting of snow last night, but not the foot of snow that some were saying was coming. Thank God! LOL

Today I am home and that's good because I just need a break from people constantly coming up to me asking me for this or that or who want to chit chat. UGH!
This past week we had two nice ladies come in and interview for our open EA position. Both were excellent. Turns out one lady accepted another offer, so we are down to the other one. But honestly she is great and I hope it works out and her interview with the SVP on Monday goes well. Fingers crossed! She'll be sitting in the cube near me and we will work closely with each other.
The good news is I have logged back in to "that other app" and have refreshed my information and am ready for a restart. I have gained five pounds since I crapped out around Thanksgiving time last year. Not too bad. Looking to lose that and more. We got this!
