Introduce Yourself!

My name is Kari and I'm 42 years old, married with an 8.5 year old son. I've been overweight my entire life and finally at 30 years old in 2013 I decided to have weight loss surgery (VSG) and I successfully got down to 165 lbs and maintained there until I had my son in 2016. Then the weight slowly crept back up because I put myself on the back burner and put my focus on everyone else but me.
Finally in 2022 my doctor offered me Wegovy, which I turned down because I wanted to do my own research before jumping on board. Finally in August of 2023 I felt like I was ready, so I started and haven't looked back since!
Its been a slow, but steady process but one that I am happy with. There were some weeks I lost nothing and some weeks I had even gained slightly. But never once did I feel discouraged or like I couldn't do this. I watched what I was eating the best I could and still ate within reason. I didn't deprive myself of things I may have wanted. Thankfully though Wegovy diminished my desire for sweets/junk - so that helped tremendously!
I felt the 1.7 dose was most effective for me and I actually stayed on that dose for 8 months. Once I felt the more frequent hunger pangs and the weight loss slow, I finally bumped up to the 2.4 dose, which I have been on for 2 months now. Thankfully the higher dose has been kind to me (mostly) and I've only experienced minor nausea. It definitely makes me not hungry! Many times I do have to force myself to eat.
As of today I am back down to 165.5 lbs (which I never thought I would see again) with an ultimate final goal being 145 lbs (which I probably haven't seen since I was a 10-12 year old CHILD. Yes... child.
I'm excited to meet others who are also on a health journey with the help of GLP-1 medications! Feel free to add me for support along the way!

I am 61. My weight was probably the lowest when I was a freshman in college - but to do this I didn't eat anything and I ran (exercise). So, that lasted about six months. I have dieted all my life, taken fitness classes, participated in Couch to 5K programs, and did lots of physical activity including all the landscaping at my home. I am very overweight and nothing has worked. I started on Wegovy at the end of Aug 2024 and have lost about 10 pounds so far. It was an extremely tearful moment when I took the first shot. I so hope that this will work for me along with my continued use of MyFitnesspal. My body is so resistant to weight loss!6

Hey. I’m 38. About 8 years ago I managed to lose about 7st on keto, but gained it all back after major back pain and the start of chronic pain that lead to my EDS diagnosis.
My increased weight is causing more pain problems, so I need it gone. I really don’t want to be on my pain medication any more, it’s been years, with no other end in sight. Once I’ve lost enough that my pain management is under control I can finally start moving again. That’s the plan. I started on Mounjaro this week.
I’m glad there is a no judgement group here. Only one of my friends knows I’ve taken this route.3 -
Hi everyone,
, I'm Lee. I am 60. I weigh 211lb and I'm short. I just started Wegovy today. I have been overweight most of my life. I'm pretty active, but can't really lose weight. I did lose about 20lbs, in 2021, but I was on a three month, 10,000 mile RV trip and I played disc golf every day. My husband and I were so grouchy, from driving, that I did not want to eat. I would not recommend losing weight that way.😆 I am hoping that I am able to lose weight and develop more muscle, while on Wegovy.

hello my name is Liz, I am 55. I have been up and down for the past 25 years. My highest weight was 201 pounds in 2021. I managed to lose 20 pounds through Keto in 2023 and kept most of it off. But I have struggled a lot with losing any more. So I have decided to try GLP meds. I’m very nervous about possible Nausea and vomiting side effects. I am staring me off with 0.2 mg compounded semaglutide. I don’t do well emotionally when I am nauseated. 😅 Hope that with this low dose I may be ok to start with.
Nice to meet you all.

Hey, I'm Vin, I'm 47 and live in Kent in the UK but spend a lot of time travelling between there and Hampshire. I went to a local weight loss clinic yesterday and was approved the 2.5mg dose of Mounjaro but due to funds I can't begin until next week. I'm currently 123kg and 163cm so BMI is 46.3. I've got four children, the youngest of which is now 16 and I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago. I tried and tried to lose the weight after having kids but it just kept piling on and then I just didn't bother. Had a bit of a wake up call recently and have decided now is the time to get this done! I'm really looking forward to getting started next week and look forward to getting to know you all better 😊

Hello. I started Ozempic on New Year's Day 2025. I have been type 2 for almost 20 years. Never had a blood sugar reading of over 235. But I had a really bad scare on 9/21. My blood sugar spiked up to 508 for no reason. I called 911 but they couldn't find an ambulance to send to me. By the time I got to the ER my blood sugar was 515. I was slipping into a coma. It took over 20 mg of fast acting insulin to get me down to 250. I was scared to death. Worst feeling of my life. My doctor put me on Jardiance a few days later. I had to be on it for 3 months before they would put me on Ozempic. I did the .25 shots for 6 weeks and now I am on the .50 shots. Tonight, I will give myself my 6th .5 shot. I am struggling with eating enough protein. I am not a big meat eater, hate eggs and I do not like any what they call natural (monk fruit or stevia) or artificial sweeteners. I have lost weight. Not a whole lot but I have gone from 233.6 on 1/4/25 to 222.4 as of this am. I have been under a ton of stress as a government employee and have been stress eating. I hope once I get into a routine of packing a lunch, I will quit stress eating. I have been on fitness pal for years but have not really used it in the past few years. I am trying to hold myself more accountable.
Thank you for reading this and letting me join the group.

Hi! 👋
My name is Nickie. I'm 54 years old, a married mom of four, and just starting my journey with Zepbound today!
I've struggled with my weight for many years, especially after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia about six years ago. Since then, my health has gradually declined, and the weight slowly crept up. I had to step away from my preschool teaching job about six months ago because of my health, which was a really hard decision.
After a lot of conversations with my care team, we all agreed that losing weight could make a big difference in managing my symptoms and improving my quality of life.
I'm excited (and a little nervous) to take this next step and work toward feeling better. Looking forward to supporting and being supported by this community!

I’ve been on the compound of Zepbound since June of 2024 SW 195 CW 128 GW 120. 68 years old, 5-0 tall and female.
So now that you have the stats let me tell you what a life changer GLP-1 has been for me! I have struggled with my weight all my life reaching a high of 235 back when my kids were little. Compulsive, emotional eating was a constant struggle. I gained and lost 100’s of pounds but diets always made me feel deprived and a failure at managing my compulsions. Enter GLP-1. For the first time in my life I can choose wisely and not feel deprived. I can have 1 cookie and be satisfied if I really want one. I can often pass up things that I would eat compulsively till they were gone. I can experience all that food has to offer without overeating or binging. I have for the first time in my life taken a bite of a rich sugary dessert and thought”wow that’s too sweet!” And left it. I take home half or more of a restaurant meal but often never eat it. I am eating to live for the first time in my life! The way GLP-1 quiets my food noise is nothing short of a miracle. I am also able to walk 3 miles most days without huffing and puffing. I can go up and down stairs multiple times! Next will be strength training and working on balance since I am 68 after all!
I’m here because WW is greedy and along with the cost of the drug ( thanks big pharmacy 😠) additional money for a simple app to track nutrition and weight is unnecessary. I do need to make sure I get proper nutrition because there are days when I’m just not hungry. I’ll be going into maintenance sometime this year and I look forward to seeing how that looks!
I plan to stay on this drug the rest of my life!

Hello. I'm 56 and just started Zepbound. I am currently 250. My highest was 280 a few years ago before I was diagnosed with Type 2. I have yo-yo'd most of my adult life and tried every diet out there only to gain it all back. I am fed up with being unhealthy and want to lose at 75 lbs.

Hi I'm Kobi, 60 years old. I just signed up for Wegovy and a program though my work/insurance. Getting my bloodwork on Monday, meeting with the doctor on Tuesday, getting setup with a counselor and starting classes. I'm excited and have been reading everything I can about it.
Does anyone have tips from those who have tried a Glp
