Whew. I was getting concerned about the way my weight was creeping up. But although this week's weight is better, I have recognized my tendency to eat when I'm not really hungry and that is something I have to recognize and not do. Last night, it was Lays lightly salted chips, which I ate after dinner, and solely for the comfort and enjoyment of eating them. It's difficult for me because hubby can eat constantly (and he does) and not gain.

However, I did make it to class yesterday and I also walked more than 4 miles. By evening, I was having some discomfort, but really, what should I expect after a couple of months of not doing that routine and having all of these treatments. One thing that radiation does is cause muscles in that area to contract, so stretching those (which they tell you to do) is bound to cause some discomfort (although most of my pain is in the breast and not the arm and shoulder). We'll see. I do plan to go again tomorrow.

Lois, a big kudo to you for getting back to training. I hope that it helps your back. My hubby is still in PT for back pain because the x-rays they did a couple of weeks ago showed no spinal issues other than mild scoliosis. His is getting so bad though, it makes me wonder.

I think Kelly's house sold quickly and so they are scrambling to find another one for themselves. Moving is never fun, and if you're doing it during cold weather, while working, and dealing with two teens—well, god bless her.

Sheesh, hope your hubby's eye is still healing as it should. I'm surprised that neither hubby or I are ready yet for cataract surgery. Part of me would like to do it because they can now correct both near and farsightedness if you're willing to pay for the special lens. I think Medicare only covers one or the other. But my opthalmologist says every year that I can put it off is good because they get better and better at what they can do.

Well, it's time to get productive. I think I'm going to run by and pay my dentist for my annual dental insurance. It's only good at her office, but it does save me some money. It was due in February but because of my treatment, they said just pay it next time you're here. But I feel bad about doing that. And I don't want to call and put it on a charge card because then she loses 3% or something. So I'll just drive over and say hello and give them a check.

But before I go, here are my 7-day averages:

Steps = 10,865
Kcals burned = 1,709

Happy Wednesday. I survived last night…and feel good today. I also had PT yesterday afternoon and they increased my intensity as well as added some other exercises. At Training we worked on stretching that area and not add any more "strength training" for the day. I have training again tomorrow and PT on Friday morning. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. So that is my new focus for the next couple of weeks. watching intake and adding in my training.

I think I missed an update about Kelly's house selling. But that is super exciting for them. Crazy, but exciting.

I also need to get in for my annual eye exam. I was taking some new medications that could affect eyes so I have to wait until April to schedule. Last exam she did notice a small cataract starting…but no need to do anything yet… I'm too young to have cataracts…lol.

Busy day today… back to grind.

I actually think the meditation is helping with reduction. The information on stress and cortisol levels is that reducing stress helps, so maybe that's it. My symptoms from the stomach bug are completely gone, and I'm feeling good. Sleeping better too. I think I'm finally "caught up" on sleep from the time change and I'm getting tired at the right time at night. Appetite is back in full, I'm finding it harder to not eat cravings for sugar and salt.

That is fantastic news that Kelly has sold the house! Wishing them good luck and an easy move and transition. . although it never is easy. Thinking of you Kelly and Shawn. 💛

Lois, it's great that you're getting back to the PT and especially training. Fitting it into schedules is hard, but we have to do it, and I know you're strong and will do it, and please share all your progress here to encourage us!

Sarah, congrats on a reduction. And, good for you making it to class, and planning to do again tomorrow. And, I am so impressed with you averages. I'm still usually in the 7K range for steps. Good job. Sorry about your hubby's back pain. I guess the next step is maybe an MRI? Thanks for asking about my hubby's eye . . it is getting better. The antibiotic drop is done, but the prednisone continues, but just 3 times per day, then 2 in a week, then 1, then none.

My cataracts aren't a big enough deal to take care of yet, so I'll probably wait some more. The doctor says I should do them while still young enough to heal well, but like you I'm waiting for better solutions. I use mono vision contacts, do you? He tells me the multi focal lens replacements are not that great, and recommends mono vision correction. But, I get frustrated at times with mono vision lenses, and can't wait to take them out at times . . reading mostly. I have glasses for distance correction, and prefer them for movies, etc. I don't know what to do. He says there's always the option to just replace the lens without correction, and then have correction afterward, same as now. Meh.

Well, I'm off for my day (apt with accountant soon, and later playdates).

Hi, all. I think I've confused you. When I said, "I think Kelly's house sold quickly," that was a guess, and I should have said "I suspect Kelly's house sold quickly." Sorry. Hope my guess is correct though.

Sheesh, I also have monovision contacts. My doc doesn't think I'd do well with the multi focal ones because I have a lot of astigmatism. So they correct me for distance and I'm always scrambling for reading glasses, which is a pain. I don't put my contacts in first thing in the morning because I can read the paper great without any kind of correction. Years ago, my editor mentioned that she had reading glasses in every room of her house, and I thought that was odd. Now I know why! LOL

I did make it to class again today. When I was going twice a week, I didn't realize how much good it does, but having had a 2-month break, I'm now sore, so I see that it does help. I took lighter weights these past two times and will probably use those for at least a couple of weeks, but I hope to be back to normal before long. And I do hope this fatigue will go away. For a few hours in the afternoons, I feel kind of like you do when you're coming down with the flu. I just feel all the energy drain out of me. But I trudged around most of my hilly route last night—made a couple of adjustments in my route so that I was taking a couple of the bigger hills in the downhill direction rather than the uphill—but it was moving and breathing fresh air, so I was happy.

Lois, doing PT and training the same day is tough, and I think your trainer is wise to not have you do strength stuff twice in one day. And stretching is so important. Our bone builders' curriculum is about 1/3 weights, 1/3 balance, and 1/3 stretching. And since radiation causes muscle contraction, I was told that stretching is a must, and so I was glad that the instructor today did a few extra stretches since we did well on time.

Well, fatigue or no, I have a few things I need to do. Hope we do hear from Kelly soon.

Oh ladies. My eyes are so bad I can't wear contacts any longer. I have a set of progressive for distance…but I also have progressive "readers" for computer and books. LOL. So i have two sets of progressives that are for different reasons. I can't just have "driving glasses" either because then I'm unable to read the dashboard with my distance rx. I'm a mess. and I'm only 60. Like you Sara I can read a newspaper or book without my glasses in the morning, just don't ask me to walk And the newspaper will be close to my face.

I think I may have overdone it with trainer the other night. I can't believe it. My back is so sore today. I've got two lidocaine patches on this morning. I am looking forward to working it out tonight and praying I don't hurt more tomorrow. If I do, that means I stay just with PT for a bit longer.

And I had to go to the MVD to get the new trave ID. UGH. It was painless but stressful to get there on time. The standby line was ridiculous, thankfully I had an appointment and only one other person in the appointment line. So maybe in line about 10 mins waiting for a window to open. I was out 2 minutes after my true appointment time. So that was nice.

Gotcha on Kelly's house sale. LOL and I hope that she did in fact sell quickly and has an easy relocation.

Up and down and up and down. Not surprising with how busy we are. So sorry I didn't find time to post. Life I tell ya. The house is still on the market and we've had so many showings and a couple of offers, but nothing that resulted in it closing. I sure hope it happens soon because it's sure difficult to keep the house immaculate and deal with the dog when we have showings.

I have been doing okay with my steps and activity but definitely could do better. Excuses - work has been absolutely nuts lately (for a couple months now) and just life. Tyler's hockey is almost done so that'll help a bit. Ever since the time change, we have all just been so exhausted. These past couple mornings, I haven't been able to get up early to go on the treadmill, but I promise I will get back to it. In the end, is sleep or activity more important, I'm not sure. Sleep has been few and far between too… so it definitely catches up to you.

I just wanted to post quickly while I'm here at work and had a couple minutes, so you know I didn't forget about you all.

Need some good luck wishes to get this house sold.

Kelly, great to see your post, and congrats on the reduction. . not gaining and staying in a range is also success. I'm sending you maximum good luck wishes for selling your house! I hope life settles a bit for you soon. I tried a little sleep assistance I had heard about while we were on our trip to Europe. It's called REMfresh, and it worked great getting us into the changed time zone. We both would take one about 1/2 hour before we wanted to sleep.

Lois, sorry about your sore low back. I agree with Sarah. . lots of stretching, and PT and training on separate days. I'm sure it will get easier as you continue with it.

Sarah, I'm so impressed that you're getting out for your bone builders class AND the hilly walking despite the fatigue from your treatments. You're a warrior woman!

Hubby and I went to the Rec Center together today. He can't lift yet because of his cataract surgery, which was fine with me because I was still sore from my trainer yesterday. So, I did 20 on the elliptical and 20 on the rowing machine, then we got in the sauna for 20 and showered. It actually really helped relieve almost all my muscle soreness. I did the rower in honor of my 15 year old granddaughter in Oregon who is on a competitive rowing crew. It's a tough workout, and burned a lot more calories than the elliptical.

My Utah family is coming for dinner tomorrow . . they share an Anniversary date with hubby and me on March 25th, so we'll be celebrating their 4th and our 49th! I'm looking forward to the babies coming.

Forgot to ask if any of you follow or have NCAA bracket bets? My family likes to do them, and even the 3 yo filled one out with the help of her mommy. "Michigan Steak" . . because she likes steak 😂

    Have a great weekend ladies.

Happy Saturday, everyone. Kelly, I was so glad to see your post. We know that you have limited time to post right now, but it's great when you can just jump on for a short one. And I know the house will sell. I remember the photos you shared before and it's lovely and offers so many extras.

I'm wondering what is going to happen to housing values around here. A lot of government people are losing their jobs and may be forced to sell at lower prices. Did I mention that one of the people I sometimes talk to when walking my hilly route stopped me the other day to tell me that he lost his job after working more than 20 years with SAMSHA and this was right about the same time that he learned that he is going to have to undergo radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Reminds me that I can always find something to be grateful for. And although Hubby is federal contractor, so far DOGE has not hit his clients.

Some days—uhh, most days—I really need to keep looking for gratitude because post radiation side effects continue to crop up. In addition to the fatigue, which makes me feel like I'm coming down with the flu for a few hours each day, I am now having nose issues. I won't gross you out with too many details, but apparently radiation anywhere on the upper body can affect the lining of the nasal passages. And this is one side effect that is making me really nervous. Skin stuff—no problem. Fatigue—I'll wait it out. But this is really annoying and alarming! So prayers this is not a result of the treatments but is just some spring allergy I've never dealt with before. That would be much less scary.

But because I've promised myself, I'll just keep moving and try to keep my ratty little brain from worrying so much, I'm going to head out now to buy some pansies to plant out in a big container out front. Have a great weekend! 😊

Oh, and no, Sheesh, we don't follow basketball at all. We are solely baseball fans and excited that opening day is less than a week away. (Although we're playing my least favorite team and will probably get creamed!)

    Happy Monday ladies.

Definitely training and PT on separate days…. which means PT will take a back seat IF I'm not too sore from tomorrow's training (I really want to engage all muscles not just the ones that hurt). I made an orzo, garbanzo recipe today and I tell ya, my back does not like the chopping part of cooking. I felt it most when draining the orzo. UGH. But I do have training tomorrow night.

Busy weekend. Saturday my surrogate daughter came up. We usually shop or cook and we just sat and visited all day.. ordered lunch and ate in the backyard. It was so relaxing and I just love that we can sit and talk all day.

Sunday we had a birthday lunch with our 13 yo grand daughter, Kelsie. She chose Cheesecake Factory and then we went to a store Scheels. Massive store and she had no idea what she wanted, but kept pointing at $150+ when she had a $25 budget (Disney last labor day was also part of her birthday package). She's a crack up. We did have a great time with her. Oh and during lunch, all she kept asking was for another trip to Disneyland. And a guest next to us overheard her and kept egging it on. I was beginning to get annoyed. It's like - sure. You can pay the $550 for her 3 day ticket and I'll absolutely take her and feed her. But $550 only covers entry…not her souvenirs etc. so it can get pretty pricey. Contrary to their belief, we do not have unlimited $$. Anyhow, she was happy with the stuff she got from Scheel's. Sorry to rant… just really wanted my granddaughter to appreciate whatever we can give and do for her.

Kelly - positive thoughts on your home. I can't imagine having to keep the house clean for showings…and it's just me and hubby…lol. May be one of the reasons we never moved. :)

Sheesh - I don't really follow any sports anymore. The Patriots in football every now and again…but not like I used to (and not because of Brady)… just kind of moved away from it. When my surrogate daughter was here, we went upstairs as I have some hiking shoes I can't wear anymore and she needs some. Mine actaully fit her so she gained two pairs of saucony's. Anyway, she was eyeing my equipment… and it's sad because, right now, can't use it without pain. But I'll be back to it. Thankfully she didn't ask for any of it (wouldn't fit in her condo). If she had, I might have jsut helped load it in her car…lol. Not quite ready to part with it, but sometimes I do have those thoughts.

Sarah - hoping all of your side effects start to minimize quickly and hubby feels better.
