    So, tomorrow is my eye surgery (cataracts and vision correction). The docs said no lifting or exercise for one week. I’m not happy. But! All will not be forsaken on my journey! I spent the last two days grocery shopping and meal-prepping for the week ahead. Got my audiobooks and Spanish lessons downloaded. Miami weather has been stunning, so some easy strolls are also on the agenda. I’ll work on my tan lol. I’m ready!

    Hi everyone

    Imy first weigh day tomorrow and I just have a feeling I haven't lost anything. I weighed a couple of days ago and I was down two pounds, but I've been lifting heavier the last couple of days and definitely retaining a little fluid. I just have a feeling I'll be letting the team down. Have gotten my calorie surplus almost down to goal calories. It definitely took a week, and longer, to learn where I could shave off calories. Also, I am quite active and genuinely feel hungry on my workout days. Trying to decide whether I should eat back those calories, but I didn't count them this week.

    Anyway, off to bed! Hopefully tomorrow morning will feel like an achievement

    I planned to walk to the library to return my book, but I had to join a couple of calls and meetings that were not on my calendar. So, I’ll have to walk more over the next few days to bring up my average, which is just a little less than 7,000 daily steps right now.

    @morenin

    That’s a lot. I feel you need to allow yourself grace as you try to manage everything.
    I hope your new water tracking app helps.

    A loss is a loss, certainly not cheating. I’m glad to hear you’ve had success with portions

    @morenin - This is a very busy time with so many appointments to manage! I agree with what others wrote, and encourage you to give yourself grace during this stressful period.

    Once the surgeries are behind you, it will be easier to deal with the housework, etc.

    Sometimes, I try to use housework as exercise by working quickly to add cardio, and intentionally engaging my muscles when bending, squatting, and lifting. Another idea is to chunk your projects and get a little done in the waiting room at each appointment. For example, update one section of your resume or make one call from the car while commuting (or step outside after arriving to your appointment to make one call, if it’s too distracting while driving?).

    In the book Atomic Habits, I read that it can be helpful to attach a task you want to do with a task you already have to do. I’m hoping to use this technique more but it’s definitely a work in progress. You’ll figure out what works best for you. In the meantime, we’re all just doing the best we can, learning from our setbacks, and persevering through difficult times. Hang in there!
