Good morning!
Frankie let me sleep until 6 this morning. I'm surprised I'm first to post.
Mike, you inspire me. I need to get my Kayak wet, but it will be next week. We have high winds and rain expected off and on the next 5 days.
I ran into a nest of ticks yesterday. I had at least 5 on me again. Itty bitty little things. I've had no less than 20 this year. I even sprayed myself with deep woods Cutter's yesterday. We are going to a place today to look for plants for Connie. I'll be asking about ticks. We had Orkin out yesterday for a regular inspection. No termites. They can spray our yard for ticks for $50/month = $600/year. Too much for me, I think.
I did get the hot tub motor fixed. I had a broken pump impeller. $315 later…. I need to put it back on the hot tub today, clean the tub, and fill it. Then, it will take a day or two to get hot again.
I still have not fixed my bike brakes. I have a lot going on right now. I'm happy. Itchy from bites, but happy.
Sam, I'm happy to hear from you again too! I'm thankful you have your staples out. Still keeping you and Joanne on the prayer list.
Have a great day!

Mornin' gents.
Yikes about the ticks, Steve. I googled tick borne diseases of the Kansas City area. Almost as bad as up here in the North East. Congrats on getting your hot tub cooking again.
Got a call from boat mechanic yesterday. Good news, compression issues were due to bad seals which were the best case scenario. Picking up me wee boat tomorrow. Hope to get it wet soon.
Sleep issues continue. My doc says I have got to reset my sleep cycle after using opiods for post op pain and recommended 5mg of melatonin before bed. I am already cutting back on caffeine.
Just found out a fishing buddy has been battling lower esophageal cancer. Just finished chemo and looking at surgery in a few weeks. He looked like the chemo took him to the brink.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning gentlemen.
Hope the melatonin works for you, Lee. Rita swears by it. I tried it out and it did nothing for me.
It was wonderful to get out on a trail yesterday. Beautiful sunny day through the forest and then along a mountain river. Thius used to be one of my "big" hikes, now it is more of an early season warmup. I have lost track of how many times I have been up there. Dozens, I'd guess. Covered 14 miles, with 1,300 feet of climbing.

Good Morning
Sam, it is good to see you up and about. I imagine once you are able to work your garden and drive, your healing & recovery will seem a lot more downhill. Prayers continue for both you and Joanne.
I got my tax checks mailed off yesterday at the Post Office. Not like the old days where there would be long lines of cars at the post offices with postal employees standing collecting the envelopes as people drove up to keep the line moving. Family left last night to fly home this AM. My gut issues are calming down again. I have talked to the Med Center. I am on a waiting list for a primary care Dr. Two left town so no one is taking new patients right now. Next time my gut flares up I am to go into the walk in clinic, they will assess and refer me out to a Gastro Doc in Eugene. There aren't any here. I'll be doing some reading and writing for my Noviate studies for next weeks discussion with my Mentor. There will be walking. We are in an amazing stretch of weather.

Yikes ticks. I have been very lucky to not have any. Oh and the bill for hot tub motor impeller hurts too.
Oh Lee esophageal cancer just sucks. I participated in a medical trial for a drug like prevacid. I have a photo of my esophageal ulcer spot that healed up with the medication. don't know if preventing esophageal ulcers helps prevent cancer but glad it worked and I take one pill daily.
Glad your boat just needed new seals. Hope the melatonin helps w the sleep issues. I have know of some folks who took their oxycontin type meds in afternoon instead of night for that reason too.
We just had an idiot end up going over Willamette Falls on the Willamette River in a Kayak. Obviously not on purpose. An out of stater who was staying in a floating house about 1/2 mile upriver. Nobody but nobody will rent you a Kayak right now as the water temps are running in the 40s and low 50s. Just too cold. It was an open Kayak and he went out after dark I think and couldn't fight the current. Apparently witnesses said he got out of the Kayak and tried swimming to some rocks but couldn't make it to safety. He Kayak was fished out quite a few miles downstream. I guess the owner of the vacation rental may have had a Kayak. I went over Tappan Falls in the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in an open Kayak after scouting it. I was told if you didn't hit that exact chute with its tongue of water you would go to the bottom of the river not once but twice. I thought I totally missed the spot when in the Kayak but actually by fate was dead on perfect and just bounced right thru.
I got in more lettuce starts and my pole peas are close to 18" tall. will plant some dill, and more lettuce today and mow. Hate mowing when it grows this fast. And no (as per the Extension Service) I haven't fertilized my lawn in over 20 years. I do have clover mixed in and wished I had an all clover lawn which wouldn't need much mowing. My neighbor pays about $100 a month for TruGreen services or $1200 a year. They fertilize, put on a bit of lime aerate and much more. His lawn is not as good as mine.
Cheer all

Oh I also just found out that by VOLUME Willamette Falls is the second largest falls in the country. It is about 1,500 feet across.

Late check in. I’m avoiding my phone and computer this week. Trying to focus on getting stuff done.
Have no desire to ride over waterfalls. Had one tick on my arm after canoe trip Monday. Pulled it out, keeping an eye on the bite. Nice hike Dave. DD wants to paddle with me Saturday. Supposed to be 73°. Woot!Sorry about yer fishing buddy. Hope he gets through it. I had esophageal erosion about 10-15 years ago, put me on omeprazole. Recent scopes all normal. GERD can lead to erosion then Barrettes esophagus condition, precursor to cancer.
I heard my neighbor down the hall who plays the sax and leads a jazz band—a classically trained musician and music director at local church—is getting deported. I think he’s lived here at the condos 8 or 10 years. Wife & 2 kids. Not sure what the whole story is.
Glad to see you ip and around and getting a small break in the appointments, Sam.Bill, hope a new doc can figure out your stomach troubles.
Have a good rest of the day.
