A love affair with gummies! I got a craving for gummies and my nutritionist suggested that I try eating what I’m craving (in moderation), so I tried. And I tried. I tried eating just a serving, I tried eating with protein, I tried eating them before my meal…and after. I tried everything. No matter what I tried they spiked my blood sugar. I guess I needed to prove to myself that I can’t have them. 🤦🏻♀️

Eventually you'll find a new love. You should be able to find zero sugar gummies. not sure how they taste though. But I feel ya. my current love affair is cheetos puffed corn.

You are doing great, weight is coming down. You can look at the gummie test as a learning moment. I have a massive sweet tooth, with ice cream as my weakness. I cannot keep candy in the house. When I am craving it, I have to go get it. So that makes me think about if I really want it or if it is something else. If I do really want it, I go out and get a single serving. Maybe next time get a single serving bag from a convenience store?
You'll figure out so much about things you start to love, what all of a sudden you can go without and how to determine everything in between.

It has been a crazy couple of weeks! Struggling with lots of food noise and cravings off and on. I’ve decided to let myself have candy…in moderation. So for the weeks that I’m craving it, I log it and hold myself to just one serving. The weeks that I don’t crave it, I don’t eat it. So I guess I’m not going to lose every week, or as fast as I had hoped but this feels more sustainable. Before I would fight the cravings and then eat everything under the sun trying not to give in. It was so discouraging!
No one irl has noticed my weight loss yet. I had hoped that someone in my family over Easter would notice but nope. Maybe 30 pounds is the magic number? The next big family get together is July 4th. Certainly by then someone will notice. Only 2.9 pounds to go till ONEderland! 😀

You are really doing well. Creating the plan that will be sustainable is key. People haven't commented on my weight-loss. Not sure if they haven't noticed or just don't want to say anything because it can sometimes be awkward? My hubby comments on it, a lot. But I feel better, and that is all that matters to me.

@megd44 , yeah, it might just be that they are unsure, or like you said, they feel awkward. . My son pointed out that I wear flowy billowy clothes too, so there is that. At this point, I’m mostly just curious at what point someone will say something.
sustainability is probably the biggest thing I’m doing differently this time, well, that and consistency. I really want this!1 -
on Jan 15th my A1C was 8.4. I just had it rechecked yesterday (April 28th)and it’s down to 6.0! If I’m reading the results correctly, for someone with diabetes, that means it is “well controlled”.
This week has been blessed with so many wins for me, I feel super lucky. I still have a few pounds to go till Onederland. It would be great if I could get there by Mothers Day. fingers and toes crossed1 -
congrats on that a1c number! Iet us know if you make it but don't be too worried if you don't. You will eventually lose the weight

@pamelaory I just caught up on your diary on here. I have been focusing on not eating a lot of carbs also since about Dec (altho Feb I ate a lot of carbs). I do not have pre diabetes that I know of but when I eat a lot of carbs I get a large blood sugar spikes and feel shakey later. Would love to hear an update of how you're doing if you want to update us (totally okay if you don't want to update also!)

Hello @Catlady27787 and welcome! Sorry it’s been so long since my last update. I’ve been stalling posting until I reached my mini goal of being in ONEderland! Took me forever to get over that particular hump. Whew! Now I need to find a new mini goal to focus on….any suggestions?
My son and future dil set the date for their wedding. It is August 30, 2026. My ultimate goal is to get to my goal weight before then. I need enough time to shop for a dress so probably at least a few months before then.
Being on Ozempic I was hopeful that the weight would come off easier like it seems to do for some people but that doesn’t seem to be the case for me. I’m on a 2 steps forward, 3 steps back, plan. I’m having to fight for every pound.

@pamelaory Congrats to your son and DIL on their future wedding. Sounds exciting!
Had you tried to lose weight in the past without Ozempic and if so, do you find it different being on it in any way? (I hope this question isn't too nosy and if you do not want to answer it - please ignore this!)
Happy to hear you passed your hump and reached your mini goal!

@pamelaory congratulations on reaching onederland and on the engagement!! So exciting!!
The slower weight-loss may turn out to be better as it allows you more time to develop habits to help keep the weight off long term. And you've lost almost 30 pounds, which is huge!!
If mini goals help, maybe set some 10 lb loss goals? Or movement goals, like active 4 times a week? Or drink more water? Things you can build on over time.

@Catlady27787 i have tried here and there to lose weight. The last time I was moderately successful was several years ago when I gave weight watchers a go. It wasn’t until my doctors appointment where they put me on the Ozempic for diabetes that I had a real wake up call. I talk a lot about losing the weight and the rewards associated with that because that’s what seems the most tangibly rewarding but my real driver this time has been my health. I want to live long enough to be a grandma and be healthy enough to do fun things with my family. The smaller clothes etc. is all just icing on the cake.
Thanks @megd44 , those are some great ideas. I think I will shoot to get to 188 next. 8 is my favorite number. That’s about 11 pounds from where I am now.

Great goal Pamela. Cheering you on to that and to improved health!

well, I’m still not losing very fast but I am losing. We signed up to be fosters for the Bichon rescue and we got a new foster on Monday. It’s been a bit rocky, the poor little guy is very clingy with his owners so has been traumatized by this. He was given away on Facebook marketplace a few months ago so this is his second move in a very short time. He has behaviors that we are dealing with and there have been reports of him nipping at people. I’m not sure what is going to happen if it turns out he is a biter. The whole thing is a bit stressful. I can tell it’s effecting me by my food choices. I had Doritos for breakfast yesterday and potato chips for lunch. Uggh!0 -
Slow is good. Not gaining is good. Your are doing really well.
That is tough with the pup. And it is hard with those challenges. Give yourself some grace right now and do what you can when you can. This is simply a blip on a longer term radar. Hugs.

thanks Meg. I think I’ve found a way that is working for me because…

I lost a couple more pounds this week! When I said I had Doritos for breakfast, I meant that literally. That’s all I had for that meal. Maybe not the healthiest choice, but it’s keeping me in the deficit, so I’ll take it.
Our foster pup is doing ok. He is a true Velcro dog , he barks if he isn’t right with me, except at night. Thankfully he sleeps quietly in his crate at night.

@pamelaory I understand that. I also wanted to lose weight for my health! Great job! I enjoyed reading your progress in this thread. I've never fostered dogs before but I used to foster kittens
1 -
Great news @pamelaory about the loss and the pup! Sure, there maybe a "better" breakfast choice than doritos, but if it working for you now, then so be it. I don't look at it as all that different than having them later. One step at a time.

Just stopped in to say hi to @pamelaory

good morning @Catlady27787 !
‘things are going ok. Just found out my youngest son’s gf broke up with him so he now needs to find a new apartment. Both sons are going to be here for a visit starting Thursday night. Thankfully they are both super supportive of my weight loss and fitness goals. Just lots going on right now, lots of moving parts.2 -
Enjoy the visit. Hope things go well for ds. Moving & search can be distressing…
Ps, understand chaotic eating... doritos remain an all time fav!

Enjoy the time with your sons. Sorry to hear about the breakup.

I'm glad you're doing well and that your sons are supportive. Break ups suck! Especially if they live together! I hope your son is able to find an affordable apartment and be able to move out soon!

Well…. Things are still trending in the right direction. I have to give credit to the Ozempic as I’ve had very little appetite lately. My kids say they can tell I’ve lost weight but no one else who doesn’t already know I’m on this journey has said anything yet. Will it be 40 pounds before someone comments? Maybe 50? Lol, now I’m just having fun seeing how long it takes.
‘my next mini goal is 188, just 6.2 pounds to go! I’ve been ordering and trying on dresses for my son’s wedding. I know I’m probably not the size I will be for the wedding, I’m mostly just trying to narrow down what style I might want and color. Plus it feels good to order smaller sizes to try on!
‘things are not going great with our foster dog. Turns out he is a biter. He’s bitten both my sons and attempted to bite my friend. I’ve let the coordinator at the rescue organization know what is happening and her initial response was a bit puzzling and seemed unsupportive. Almost like it’s my fault (or my sons). But maybe I’m mistaken about that. I’ll have to wait and see what her next email says. In the mean time, I will be staying in the bedroom with him when we have company over so as to not risk more bites. I wish I could just leave him alone in the bedroom but he barks constantly when he’s left alone which is highly disruptive. The poor little guy has been so traumatized, he’s a mess.0 -
Great job on the weight!! That is so fantastic. And awesome that your sons are noticing.
Fun with the dress ordering and trying on. Once you narrow down style and color, you can order closer to the date. And tailoring also can help.
I am so sorry to hear about the foster. And the coordinator's response is not good. Even if she didn't mean for it to seem like it is your/your son's fault, that was how it felt. So that is not good at all. And they need to know he is a biter for future placements. Good luck!!

That sucks that the foster dog is a biter! I hope the organization can give you all support with how to navigate that.
