@Katmary71 yes, I’m still running. I try and run a few times a week. I joined a running group. The leader said my goal of 2 miles in 17 minutes is absolutely doable. That’s encouraging. I ran a 5k race for a pregnancy life center fundraiser around Easter. It really stirred me up. I’ve been watching ultra marathon documentaries. Those look fun. If I get to where I can run 100 miles you’ll have to run with me.

@Katmary71 - How many kittens are in a litter and can you PLEASE post kitten photos?! I'm sorry about your sunflowers- not nice!

@micaroo4 - I'm so sorry to hear about your former coworker. Very sad. Hugs to you.

@TeresaW2024 I think I am getting it, darn it! I am determined to sign up for the gym, though. I have to work on Saturday for 2 hours so it's a bad time to get this cold! Planned power outage: this has only been like the second in the 5 years we've lived here, so just occasionally. Unfortunately, I think they are taking turns doing it throughout the city. OH I get it why you can't join the book club. No worries! I'm glad Joe is doing well. I hope the plumber doesn't cost you too much. Smart to take care of it before it becomes a major problem. I hope Joe uses the walking pad. I'm glad you found an exercise you like!

@baodell17724 Awesome and appropriate! I love that song!

@AustinRuadhain It was really good and easy to make! Sorry about your sleep and not being able to put your bags out for the trash. Yay for the DH getting involved in cleanup! Yummy food. Good job with your day!

    @Cornanda You are welcome!

@Katmary71 Me too! It's been a while since I've been a member of a gym. I think I am catching his sickness, whatever it is, unfortunately. I hope you can get the book for the book club! I'm glad the concert went well. That sucks about your sunflowers. :( WTH. How fun to get a litter of kittens! I hope you share pics. Lots of them lol.

@DrewsAnna Congrats on the loss! I hope the PT helps.

@micaroo4 I'm so very sorry for the loss of your coworker. I hope you can find the perfect way to honor her.

Hi all. I've been doing really well with limiting snacking: yesterday and today, I did not get into any snacks in the afternoon. Not to say that they were necessarily unhealthy snacks (although sometimes the snacks were chips), but I'm trying to tolerate being a little hungry. I don't need to give in every time I am hungry. I think I may be on the verge of getting my DH's cold: my throat is a little wonky, and my nose is a little stopped up. I've been drinking more water: I realized that I do better when I track my water intake. Every time I tick off another bottle of water in my tracker, it's like a little celebration. I drank 72 oz yesterday and the day before.

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

@Katmary71 - I am so sorry about the person cutting down your sunflowers. That is awful. The foster kittens sound like they will be super fun and so worth it! I hereby add my name to the list of people begging for kitten pictures! Kitten and cat pictures always make life better. ;-) Hmm. Maybe I need to take a set of pictures of my menagerie, or some of them.

@DrewsAnna - Hurray for your weigh-in and for the good work at PT. Did you find a seated workout that you like?

@micaroo4 - I am so sorry about your loss. What a shock.

@19shmoo69 - Wow to your running! I had a running partner years ago who ran ultras, and used to come and run suppport, keeping up with her on a couple of legs of the run.

@trooworld - Hurray for the snack-free day! I hope you stave off the cold or get through it quickly. Upping your water intake may help with that!

@baodell17724 Thanks for the video! I sing that song all the time when I talk about my rebounder. This Gen X girl loves the Pointer Sisters! 😃

@AustinRuadhain, Thank you! I sure never thought I would become a caregiver to my husband, but here we are. We are also having a lot of thunderstorms, and it doesn’t look like the rain will stop for another couple of days. I’m glad you are getting help from your DH in the great yard cleanup. 😀

@Katmary71 How rude that someone would cut your flowers!😡 Is the community garden something everyone is supposed to share in, or do you have your own space and need to respect each other’s plots of land? Ohhh my goodness, you will have so much fun with those sweet kitties! 😍You will also be busy. Will your other cats be OK with new friends? How long will you foster them for?

@DrewsAnna I hope your knee starts to improve. Keep doing those exercises!  🙂

@micaroo4 I am very sorry for the loss of your co-worker, Kathy. 💔 Of course, you are in shock and need time to accept how something so sad and sudden can happen. I just got the news last night that a very long-time church friend passed away. I knew he was sick, but not that close to dying. I woke up thinking about his wife.😢

@trooworld Ugh, I'm so sorry you're getting sick! Well, I guess if the power outages happen rarely, it makes it more bearable, but I still would be a total grouch if that happened to us. I can’t sleep without my jet engine-sounding fan. 😀 I am right there with you in trying to eliminate snacking. I lost my best weight at the start of this year when all I did was cut all snacking between meals. So, starting today, there will be NO more snacking for me. So, if you want a no snacking buddy, I’m your girl. 😎

Good morning! Well, the plumber came and $400 later, we have two non-rocking potties. I guess that’s important! 🙄 And I opened up Joe’s new walking pad, and put it together only to find out that it doesn't work! I tried everything, and the thing is defective. It’s also too small, and I don’t think he would have liked it. Most annoying! So Amazon will pick it up, and Joe will return to his under-desk elliptical, and I will get him up and walking around the house a few times a day. Today, I will work out, do laundry, give Joe a shower, and make nachos for dinner because he told me that is all he is craving. Have a good day!🙂

today is day 13 without binge eating!
i'm not sure what's happening, but I think that food is losing the power that it used to hold over me. it can't solve my problems and it never could.

@DrewsAnna Ugh I bet you’re sore after PT, working out when you get home I’m sure flared you up! The first week or two of PT has always stunk for me especially after a surgery. Woohoo I’m so glad to hear the bleed is gone that was scary! My roommate had bleeding like that when she had bowel cancer so I’m so grateful that’s not what was going on with you. I’m sure we’ve swapped chair exercises before do you have a favorite chair yoga instructor these days? I just started doing the chair cardio and weight/strength training videos again and I’m seeing a difference.

@micaroo4 I’m so sorry to hear about your co-worker, sending prayers and love up for you and her other friends and family. I’m sure you’ll think of a great way to honor her life as you’re very thoughtful and supportive friend.

@19shmoo69 WOW I love that you did the 5k race for the pregnancy life center! I think the running group is a great idea, love your goals and I fully think you can do it! Ha if you run 100 miles I’ll get an electric bike to keep up with you, you’re forgetting my legs don’t work well even walking silly! I love that you’re seriously considering a 100 mile goal that would be so amazing. What music are you currently listening to when you run? This morning was a rap morning and yesterday was a mashup morning followed by calm hang drums while at the farm planting and weeding.

@Cornanda The woman I talked to told me four kittens that will be 4 weeks old, one being a calico. I honestly don’t know much about little kittens aside of watching fosters on Instagram and YouTube. I told her I wouldn’t be able to purchase litter and food for them for a few days thinking I was missing my chance and she responded that it works for her too and the woman that has them will be in touch (no word yet). I’m getting nervous I’m glad I’ll have my roommate’s help too! I’d explained I need to get 6 hours of sleep or my pain is too bad and am thinking they’re younger where I won’t get much sleep so I’m planning to ask questions Saturday. I honestly have been watching the fosters on Instagram and when I got the idea to and contacted them and since it’s kitten season they need a lot of help so guess I’ll fake it til I make it. I am a little concerned about the cost of kitten food for four but I’ll figure it out. I’ll definitely share pics with all of you!

@trooworld Ugh I hope you’re feeling better soon! You shop at Trader Joe’s you need to stock up on that Immunity Tea by Yogi I swear it helps when getting sick to recover faster. The wait for Atomic Habits is 15 weeks! I’ll come hang out with you all anyway since I’m familiar with it. Great job on limiting snacking and drinking more water! Hopefully the extra water will get the cruddy germs out of you fast!

@AUstinRuadhain I have a story I’ll include about the sunflowers it’s turning into something we’re probably going to have to get a camera for! You BET I’ll be sharing kitten pics! I’ve been learning a lot from Instagram posters who share their fostering, I haven’t ever taken care of small kittens so I’m a little nervous. YES we haven’t had a pet post in awhile maybe it’s time we all do that!

@TeresaW2024 LOL Jump! Is the perfect song for the rebounder! The community garden has 48 garden beds and I rent two of them. I’ll add details of all that at the end of this since a few of you asked about it. Yes we do take care of our own beds and DO NOT touch others unless asked. My cats have never seen little kittens, I’ll have them in a room by themselves and am not sure they’ll get to meet. My two have been surprisingly good with my ex-boyfriend’s two cats and when my fur niece comes so I think they’ll be okay aside of maybe some jealousy. Oh no I’m so sorry the walking pad isn’t working how frustrating! Would Joe do seated workouts at all?

@bobboyardee Woot woot you go with that no binge eating streak!

Hi friends! I went to the greenhouse this morning just to check on everything since there was no seeding to be done then gardened a bit and my childhood friend came by. She was recently laid off and is looking for work and I offered to go to a job fair with her. We stopped at Leatherby’s (has crazy sundaes, good ice cream, and good food) and split a lunch then got ice cream, I’ve lost a few pounds this week so I didn’t want to overdo it and got a small sundae. I went to my neighbor’s (the one I had issues with a month or two ago) for a drink before dinner and we had a good talk, I think we're going to be okay going forward but I'll be cautious. I went on Facebook earlier and the garden club vice president who helps with the club beds at the community garden posted how squirrels are stealing sunflowers and strawberries there and added ways to prevent it like having spinners and not forgetting to deadhead the flowers oh and we should all be fertilizing now (she fertilized a few of our beds and didn’t run it by us first and I’d planned to go that afternoon to do mine). I don’t think squirrels would only take the highest 6-7 feet up sunflowers so not sure I believe it especially with how they were cut. My friend is in charge of the garden so I screenshot it and asked what I missed and another bed’s reporting missing strawberries. One bed renter last year had a camera on her bed and people thought she was a bit paranoid as she said veggies were disappearing so I suggested a camera to get to the bottom of things now that two of us are having issues. I wasn’t going to post anything on social media as my friend who’s in charge is upset but I’m kind of wondering if the garden club vice president (who I like but don’t want her touching my beds without permission) is the one who trimmed them possibly after the squirrels picked at them? Fully looks like the stems were cut to me. Sounds like a Nancy Drew book The Case of the Community Garden’s Disappearing Sunflowers and Strawberries.

    Have a great Friday!

@AustinRuadhain Thank you! I seem to be feeling better today, so maybe it was just allergies. Great day yesterday!

@TeresaW2024 I don't know, I feel better today, maybe it was just allergies! Yeah I did not sleep well when the power was out: we usually sleep with a fan AND the AC on! Okay, we are snacking buddies! How did you do yesterday with snacking? I had a whoopsy (see below). Ugh. I'm sorry about the plumber bill but at least they aren't rocking! That sucks about the walking pad! Are you going to try to find a bigger walking pad?

@bobboyardee 13 days binge-free!!! Way to go! You are 100% right!

@Katmary71 I feel better today so maybe it was just allergies. Good to know about that tea! You can find summaries of Atomic Habits online. Just brush up on those. Thank you! Sounds like a good plan to be cautious with the neighbor. Maybe a camera IS a good idea. It does sound like a Nancy Drew book!

    @Cornanda Congrats on the loss!

Hi all. I did pretty well yesterday but I did end up having a snack in the afternoon: I knew I had to run an errand after work and I was already hungry so I had one of those Hillshire Farms mini charcuterie plates. At least it wasn't chips and had protein in it. I will celebrate that. Today, I have to get a gallbladder ultrasound (this stems from the pains I was having in my stomach a few months ago...it is finally arranged to have it!) and the blood work drawn for my 6 month appointment with the surgeon (in June). I can't eat anything until after 10:45 and I can't drink any water until about 8:30. So, I'm really thirsty right now!

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

@Katmary71 i use either Spotify or Amazon Music. Sometimes I listen to the Unashamed podcast. Most of the time I listen to a playlist I put together. Its Christian metal. I have used Christian running playlists on Spotify. It’s supposed to go by a pace count.

@Katmary71 Yes, Joe does seated workouts with his chair elliptical and hand weights. We just need to be more consistent. HaHa! The Case of the Community Garden’s Disappearing Sunflowers and Strawberries is a great title! It is super frustrating to think that someone is touching your beds. I’m not a gardener, but I can’t imagine over-fertilizing the beds is a good idea. And while I agree the squirrels might be eating the strawberries, would they really cut the large sunflowers down and leave the smaller ones? We need cameras and maybe a stakeout to get to the bottom of this mystery! 🧐

@trooworld Congrats on your loss this week!! Yayyy to being snacking buddies! I ate a piece of dark chili chocolate yesterday before remembering that I’m NOT snacking. I will do better today. I am not going to get a bigger walking pad. I don’t want that much of my exercise room taken up, and honestly, he probably wouldn’t want to use it anyway. I hope all goes well with the ultrasound. 🙂

Good morning! Joe and I had a good day yesterday, and it’s such a relief to have him feeling good again. His son, DIL, and granddaughter will be here on June 20, and I’m praying so hard that he will remain healthy and able to enjoy the visit. My bestie is supposed to come for coffee today, so that will be nice. I also plan to do a new rebounding workout that just dropped with Disco music! I love that Earth & Owl is now using mainstream music. Yesterday, I jumped to Blondie’s music. So much fun! 😀

@micaroo4 - Kathy sounds like a wonderful person. Hugs.

@askewcr - Hang in there. Do you need to adjust your plan for this week?

@TeresaW2024 - Hurray for getting the plumbing work done. It's nice to get things like that checked off the to-do list, and non-wobbly toilets sound like a life improvement! I am so glad you had a good day yesterday, and that Joe is doing well. Enjoy that coffee date!

@trooworld - Congratulations on the great loss! I hope the procedure goes well, and that you get to hydrate again soon!

    @Cornanda - Hurray for the in-the-green weigh-in!

@Katmary71 - As a longtime Nancy Drew fan, I would definitely read "The Case of the Community Garden’s Disappearing Sunflowers and Strawberries."

@bobboyardee - Congratulations on that no bingeing streak! Here's to another day today!

    Happy Friday, everyone!

I weighed in yesterday morning to check in and so far am up for the week. Darn it. Ah, well. I will keep on doing and try to figure out what needs adjusting. I am eating well, not too much, and moving more, so I can only guess that I need to be patient.

My victory for yesterday was behaving well at the movies. I planned ahead and ate well beforehand, and then had unsweetened tea and about 1/3 cup of my son's popcorn. We saw the new Karate Kid film, Karate Kid Legends, with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. It was charmingly comic book-ish. I also saw a preview for "Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight," which I now want to see.

I’ve done the Atkins, Keto, Grapefruit, Master Cleanse and am Gluten Free. With that I would have to include the cabbage soup diet. I did lose weight with all of them but that cabbage soup, we would make it as a meal even after we quit the diet. Also the gluten free diet isn’t for weight loss or is it supposed to be healthier. Several people are gluten free because of the side effects of consuming gluten. For me it it’s an anger issue that gluten causes. Since I / We are talking about diets it can be said that I’m on the carnivore diet. Since I’ve been on it clarity of thought has come around and I don’t fight battles of depression like I used to (Daily). Now if it could just help my memory. Lol

@trooworld Oh good I’m glad you’re feeling better today! That was a long wait for the gallbladder ultrasound I’m glad you’re finally having it and hope all is well. Good luck with the eating/drinking restrictions that always reminds me I’m hooked on my morning caffeine when I can’t have it.

@19shmoo69 I’ve never listened to the Unashamed podcast, I didn’t watch their show but know a little from pop culture. I’m actually not familiar with much Christian metal but I do have some metal I won’t listen anymore from the messages in the music I don’t agree with. It’s fascinating hearing the different diets you’ve tried and how much carnivore has helped you.

@baodell17724 I’ve been on a lot of silly diets not included and a lot of these! I do try to avoid gluten and ate paleo/AIP for awhile. The egg diet was one of the worst, did a lot like Slimfast shakes for two meals then dinner too. One I did for awhile with my parents was The Belly Fat Cure, oh and one where you have fruit for breakfast, veggies and meat or a bread and veggies, then meat and veggies for dinner (can’t remember the name now). Briefly did Weight Watchers, Whole 30, Low Fat Diet, Detox diet, and the Diabetes Association diet. When I started MFP I went from being almost vegetarian to eating more meat because of weight lifting and being diabetic. For the exercise it said I’m a self-starter and would do well in clubs like hiking clubs or biking clubs (I did like exercise classes back in the day but am limited in what I can do now).

@TeresaW2024 Ironically I was at the community garden earlier and a squirrel reached through the fence and pulled off a hollyhock flower and ate it but it WAS low to the ground. Yay I’m so glad Joe is feeling better. I hope he’s able to enjoy that visit too with no health issues. Have fun with the bestie and working out to disco music, I love Blondie! I had old 70s and 80s R&B on at the farm this morning and had a blast listening to it.

@askewcr Oh no what’s going on? You can turn this around, go get it my friend!

@AustinRuadhain Wonderful job making the movie snacks work for you! I haven’t heard of that movie yet I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think I’m behind a season on Cobra Kai too. You did great checking the boxes yesterday too!

@DrewsAnna Your yard looks beautiful! Are those lupine in the second pic? I’m still learning about flowers and have a ways to go. They’re so pretty! Love all your flower colors too!

Hi team! Long day I got up at 5:30 and worked out then went to the farm as we’re in the 100s today and wanted to get there early. I made a bunch of basil bunches then trimmed all the flowering basil and brought a bunch home. Went to the community garden for a bit and met my friend there, we DID see a squirrel reach through the fence and pull a low hollyhock flower bud and eat it! I got a video of it eating a weed after that then it tried for a succulent and gave up (they WERE all low to the ground. We ARE having an issue of sunflowers falling over so I have this vision now of a squirrels hanging on to the tops of sunflowers swaying in the breeze breaking them.) I got to harvest squash both there and at home so I made Skinnytaste’s Chicken Caprese Skillet https://www.skinnytaste.com/caprese-chicken-skillet/ to use the basil I brought home and had mixed squash in the air fryer and rice for dinner. Things are up-in-the-air for the weekend I have the cats pre-registered for shots Sunday and possibly kittens coming Sunday. Tomorrow the farm stand opens at the farm so I’m excited to check it out and possibly get some veggies! Have a great Saturday team.

The only formal diet I've done was the "Cabbage Soup Diet" at least 10 years ago… I lasted one week eating just that! 😄 That said, now every Fall I do make a huge vat of cabbage soup (with tomatoes and lots of low-calorie green vegetable and different spices) and freeze quart containers for the rest of the year. It's become my "go-to" diet meal when I occasionally over-eat or am doing a very low-calorie "fast".

@baodell17724 Congrats on the loss and doing 14 hours of exercise this week, well done! Regarding the diet article, oh boy yes! I have done Atkins for about 2 weeks, the Zone for a short time, Keto for a bit, I may have tried Paleo, Whole30 I did a round of, Low-Fat Diet yes. I never did the Master Cleanse but I have a friend that used to do it all the time and I thought her crazy lol. I admired her willpower. She eventually, like me, had weight loss surgery. For the quiz, that was interesting. I got SELF-STARTER: I flourish in starting a new fitness program, working with a coach or personal trainer might feed my desire to learn and improve, I should consider yoga, Nordic walking and cycling or possibly a hiking/biking club or participate in group exercise classes. Thanks for sharing both of these!

@TeresaW2024 Thank you! That chocolate sounds amazing, I like sweet and spicy. How did you do with snacking yesterday? I didn't have any snacks yay! Ah, that makes sense about the walking pad. Thank you, hopefully it did but I saw some preliminary results that they found a possible something but it was in doctor jargon so I'm waiting for it to be interpreted to normal person language lol. I'm so glad that you both had a good day yesterday. Did you enjoy coffee with the bestie? Wow, great genre of music to do rebounding to! And Blondie, too, another great music to do it to.

@AustinRuadhain Thank you! I'm sorry about you being up. Hopefully by the time you officially weigh in, you'll be down. Great job at the movies! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. Yesterday was an excellent day for you!

@DrewsAnna You and @Katmary71 are both so good with plants! Those look amazing.

@Katmary71 Thanks! Yes it was. I hope so, too but see what I wrote to Teresa about it above. OH gosh, I didn't realize how hooked I was until I got a headache from not having caffeine yesterday! Wow, 100s, that's crazy. Thanks for the recipe, it looks really good! I hope you have a good day.

Hi all. I got all my tests done and because I had to fast with no coffee until after my 10:15 appt, and I didn't have actual coffee until 3:30 pm due to circumstances, I had a wicked caffeine headache! But once I got coffee, it magically went away. One of the appointments was for a cortisone shot in my knee as the last one is starting to wear out. Well, I did it! I joined the bare-bones gym last night. I'm a little intimidated by it only because I don't know where specific equipment is and I don't want to get in people's way looking for what I want to use. But I should be fine once I get used to it. My husband joined with me. He said he was only joining for me, to be supportive (awwww!). He already works out at home with all our equipment. Today, I have to install an exhibit for work and will need to work for a couple of hours. At least I'll get paid!

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

@Katmary71 Yikes, 100 degrees sounds awful! I hope the weather gets better soon. Squirrels swinging from sunflowers made me laugh. I don’t know what you can do other than put a fence around your garden to keep them from doing what they want. My niece has a birdfeeder attached to her window and gets upset because the squirrels get in and eat all the birdseed. I told her that she needed to give it up because they wouldn’t stop if she kept providing an easy meal for them.  😀

@trooworld I did well on snacking until my sister came home with beer and cake to celebrate her quitting her job. More on that below. 😏 Congrats on joining the gym, and I’m glad your DH is supportive and will go with you. Are you primarily interested in the free weights or the machines?  Just be careful with that abductor machine! I have horror stories about how that machine damaged me for years because I misused it. 🙄

Good morning! My bestie didn’t come over yesterday because of a major thunderstorm she didn’t want to drive in. We will have our coffee date sometime this week. My sister called yesterday afternoon to inform me that she quit her job at McAlister's Deli. It’s been a long time brewing, and walking out wasn’t the plan, but she had been pushed to her limit. To celebrate, she brought home beer and chocolate cake. Her new plan is an early morning job so she can have more daytime to homeschool the kids and take them places. I don't have much going on today besides a workout and housework. Have a good day! 🙂
