@babyw8gone I've got you added back!
@micki48 Can you make the calorie deficit less to help with the hunger? Going from eating 3,000 calories (example) per day to 1500 is half! Try eating at 2,500 for a few weeks, then 2,000, then 1,500? Again those numbers are random.
I LOVE ice cream! That is what I get for my birthday every year instead of a cake! But I found Halo Top and Nick's are a really good alternative and a lot less calories.
I have been having a rough few weeks, my depression has gotten the better of me. Hopefully a few med changes will help. I went out and walked today even though I didn't want to! 🌞

Ooooooooohhhhh …. I've been dithering for the last 3 days about whether or not to sign up, and did I miss my chance? I was just about to take the plunge, but the sign up thread is now closed. May I still join? (WaistAways was the team I was going to request, love the name!)

@energyseeker napping to the sound of rain is unbeatable
@micki48 you would be less impressed with my workouts if you saw me do them hahahaha
@YinxFed how close do you live to said forest for walking? probably one of my major life goals is to live in or adjacent to a forested area
had a pretty good day for eating and movement today. steak salad for dinner from my meal kit was delicious. I did snack a bit before cooking dinner, but chose fairly healthy stuff - strawberries, some cheddar cheese, and I rediscovered Terra chips this week. They are the same calories as any snack really, but it feels healthier because it is like weird root vegetables and not just potatoes? I think? And they are delicious. Dance cardio after dinner today and I was giving some of the songs my all haha. Very sweaty session!
I feel like I am having a productive week for all my various life/home/work tasks, which often makes it easier to stick to my meal plan and workouts, because I'm not getting frustrated or mad or disappointed (in others or myself). Gotta keep it up!

@Pearl4686 wow I didn't realize type 1 diabetes could develop in adulthood! What a huge adjustment to have to make. It's great that you're taking it seriously and doing what you can to manage your health.
@lauren_989 Good for you for getting a walk in even when you didn't want to! Depression can make seemingly simple tasks feel next to impossible. I hope you're able to get it under control soon, depression is such a challenge.
Oh man, all the talk about ice cream has me wishing I had some! We don't keep it in the house, it's one of the foods I can't seem to control my portions of, so it's better that it's not here.
Today was a good day as far as nutrition and exercise are concerned. It feels good to be meeting my little goals each day!

micki48 Hope your week is going well and can wrap up school and take some down time
@lauren_989 Giving you a high five for getting out and walking - I hope you felt better after.
Kali225 Would love to hear more about the meals you are sent. I can't do the meal kits but love looking at the recipes they have to make something similar. I'm always on the hunt to change up my typical menu.
I LOVE ice cream too - we have a craft ice cream shop close by and it's always a reason to bike to it. It is on my summer bucket list to try one of their monthly flavors for June, July and Aug - should just stick to that.
We are in the Stanley Cup Finals here in Alberta and everyone is going crazy. First game is tonight - Hope the Oilers win !!!

Not been great with food the last few days. Too many treats, including ice cream and cheese cake. Both of these are lower in carbs than other treats, which is good for my diabetes but obviously bad for me overall. But it's hard to resist a treat that doesn't require so much insulin. Almost makes it permissable. It's not a helpful mindset and I'm working on it.

@lauren_989 Big high five to you for getting out to walk when you don’t feel like it. ✋🏼It feels so much better when you do. Used to love walking in my GSO neighborhood Starmount. It was pretty. I live in a fairly urban area now. Haven’t found my place yet. Thanks for the great suggestion regarding calories. That makes good sense.
Hi @pearl4686 ! We go back a ways. What a life changing diagnosis! Glad to hear you are doing pretty well with managing it. It must be really hard. Wishing you the best. Glad to see you back.
@cleaneater80 Counting down the days. 🙂 Wishing your team luck in the game tonight.
@jguldi11 Glad to hear you are having a good day!! Keep it up. Great work. 🎉
@Kali225 Hey you are exercising and Moving so great for you!! Keep up the good work.
Well, I had the best of intentions last night, but found out last minute that there was a function at my granddaughter’s school. We hopped in the car and off we went. Ended up eating at a diner afterwards. Logged all my food though. Everything logged for today. Now if I could only make myself do some exercise!!

Feeling slightly better today. Went for another walk after work, since I wasn't able to on lunch today. I am ready for the weekend already!
3 -
@lauren_989 I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, and good for you for getting out there anyway.
@Pearl4686 that's what happened to my husband, he was diagnosed T1 in his 30s. A doctor later explained he was actually a type 3A diabetic - I didn't even know type 3 existed, but when we looked it up, it made more sense. His GP kept his diagnosis as T1 though, on paper, because it was easier to explain for Medicare and National Diabetes Scheme purposes. It was a really big adjustment, and having a continuous glucose monitor really helped him.
@micki48 logging it anyway is a win in itself! Life, and meals out, happen.
I did leg day with my PT yesterday and I am sooooo sore haha. It makes me feel strong, but being in pain for days after is no fun, and it makes me annoyed at seeing the water weight gain on the scale! I'm going to play it by ear as to whether I go to boxing tonight, it depends of the DOMs get better or worse!
I took this photo this morning on my walk with the puppy - there's got to be some advantages to him getting me up at 6am, right?

I'm floating around the same weight, and that's annoying me when though I haven't been eating amazingly, I've been working out a lot, my entire life is in turmoil, my cortisol levels are probably through the roof, and the fact that I'm even staying relatively healthy is a damn miracle. I know I need to be easier on myself, but it's hard.

@Alatariel75 Al- that photo is beautiful! And yes, give yourself some grace- you have been through a lot recently! Also, you are down 90 pounds from your highest weight awesome!

@Alatariel75 thank you for sharing the photo of the beautiful sunrise! I can relate to the frustration with DOMS and the (temporary) water retention showing on the scale. It sounds like you've had some NSVs though, which are great to reflect on when the scale isn't cooperating.
Today was a stressful work day. Our bosses keep the office stocked with all sorts of salty/sugary snacks, and in the past I would treat myself to some in between tough sessions. Obviously that doesn't align with my current goals so I've been avoiding them for the last few months despite strong cravings. I noticed today I didn't even crave any snacks when I was feeling stressed at work! 🤯 In fact, I promised myself I would exercise when I got home to burn off the excess cortisol. The kids and I danced along to some of their favorite music videos after I got home, it was a lot of fun and I felt so much more calm after.
In the moment I didn't even realize I didn't crave the snacks, it wasn't until I started typing this that it hit me. Wow. That's a big win for me.
6 -
@jguldi11 that's a huge victory!! Resisting the craving is a win, but not even getting the craving is a huge success! Dancing to burn off the cortisol sounds good, maybe I need to have a bit of a boogie…

June 4 steps. 11897
Walked 30+ minutes outside yesterday then walked around Costco and Walmart. Each morning has been a little warmer as I’m getting started a little later. In the evenings I’ve been on my feet 3-4 hours setting up for our church thrift sale. My ankles remind me every time I start walking after resting with arthritic type pain. I soaked in epson salt bath hoping to help, it did help the leg muscles soreness.
Trying to stay hydrated. I chose to allow myself my Diet Coke. I’ve cut down and I’m doing well in other areas of nutrition.
Looking forward to the next week. We are taking our 7 and 9 year old grandsons on a getaway. We will stay in Wisconsin campgrounds, hiking and spending time outdoors as well as some touristy stuff.
They will be here bright and early so I better get back to sleep.4 -

Ugh, I feel like such a failure. I was doing so good yesterday, until I got home, I don't have once ounce of motivation, and I don't understand, I am so bored, I have no hobbies, no friends, I mean I do have friends but the only thing we do together is drink and eat, but they live far away, so it's usually a 2 day event to go see them. The husband is constantly busy, or out of town.
My house and yard are in shambles due to construction, so it's like I can't even re organize and purge stuff, cause I can't even get to stuff.
I have to figure this out.

YAY !! 😎😍🤸🤸♂️🤸♀️ Thanks, Lauren! And hello Team ! I'm 58/F, married, 1 adult daughter, and a son-in-law. We have 3 (rescue) kitties, lovable Ralphie (a gray & white), and 2 (younger by a few years) formerly-feral brothers, Chance (tuxedo), who is always watching and not sure if he's gonna be okay, and Hoolie (tabby), short for Hooligan, who isn't smart enough to wonder if he's going to be okay, and is always getting into hilarious shenanigans and doings 🤣. The two brothers together are a hoot. They have a completely silent, fierce battle every day. They try to rope in Ralphie, but he does NOT like the tussles, and yells when he gets sacked. My name is MaryK (sounds like MaryKay), but I go by MK as well, that's usually easier for folks :).
I (briefly) participated in F2F in 2023, but went on a trip to Vienna, Istanbul, Bologna, and Venice for 2 weeks …. and, having injured my left knee on cobblestones when I tripped in Istanbul, drifted away from MFP altogether for 6+ mos. During which time I erased entirely the 30 lbs I'd spen the previous couple yrs losing (I was at the halfway point, my goal had been to lose 60 lbs), broke an 18+ mos 10k/day stepping streak, and gained another chunk of weight on top of what I'd lost.
Started over last summer. I know, so many of us have these starting over stories. Sigh :p.
Anyway! I saw the new book club in my notifications bc I was still a member of this group, even if I wasn't on a team, and I really wanted to join in! I bought the book they're reading this month (Atomic Habits) last yr, but haven't read it yet. So … I dithered and dithered for a couple days, finally decided, YES, I wanted to join, decided to start fresh with a new team, loved your team name … went to sign up, and boo! thread was closed :p.
So, thank you for letting me join!
Might as well use today as weigh-in day (Thu).

@mkksemail welcome back to F2F! We are happy to have you here on our team! Even though you gained your weight back, it looks like you have started losing it again already! Great job!
@Gidgitgoescrzy is there anything you want to learn? Or new hobby to start? I find that having activities to do that are not associated with eating helps me! I have learned to crochet and like to do puzzles.
@energyseeker you are killing those steps! Keep it up!
@jguldi11 that is an amazing non-scale victory! How did you manage to not eat the snacks at work? That is my BIGGEST struggle.
Today was a rainy day all day that I wasn't expecting. I didn't get to walk on lunch which I always look forward to. Then I was exhausted, so I ended up taking a 15 minute power nap instead 🤣 I tracked my food today and stayed within calorie range. Hoping to get to bed early tonight.

Thx, Lauren! Xx

Writing a post so I can stall beginning my tabata workout. One of my least favorite protocols and this devil trainer put plank jacks in this one. Evil.
@mkksemail welcome MK!
@energyseeker Wisconsin campgrounds sounds like my dream vacation right now, jealous!
@Alatariel75 gorg pic, wow!

Thx, Kali!
Tabata - I just did my first ever Tabata workout last month. I didn't know what it was, I was in a challenge that said to try out another Challenger's favorite workout, so I have it a go! I think the one I tried must have been easier tho. No planks ;-)

@lauren_989 tbh I first made the commitment to stop eating snacks at work for lent (not Catholic but I find the practice to be beneficial) and then I got in the habit of saying no, at work. Now when I walk by the snacks I avert my eyes to help avoid temptation lol.
@Gidgitgoescrzy oh that sounds so frustrating to have the house under construction, I know when my environment is in disarray it really makes it hard to focus on much else. It's great that you keep showing up here though, that's a win!
Today was a great day for physical activity for me, not so much for food. I had a walking session with one of my clients, and then I took my son to a local park where his class was meeting for an end of year party. He was so excited he spent most of the 1.5 hours there walking/running around the whole park, so I had to keep up with him (he's autistic and doesn't always recognize danger).
I had a cookie at the party, and we stopped for fast food on the way home because I had to hurry back to work shortly after dropping him off to grandma. I managed to watch my portions though and still stay within my calorie goal, just wasn't the most balanced day.

Hiked in a state forest with grandsons who loved the boulders to climb. Walked a wildlife park for couple hours. Our favorite animals were the red panda and feeding the giraffes carrots. Walked around the campground as well.

That sounds like a great day, Jackie/jguldi11 ! If the only thing that was off was unbalanced macros, I'd say the board sweep with the rest of it MORE than compnesates :D.
Kim/energyseeker …. whoa !!! what a spectacular day ! Pandas and Giraffes and forest-bathing, and boulder climbing, WOW!! Spectacular !
Good morning, lovelies ! I'm picking up a ticket to ride today, today is the first day of the rest of my life, and I am IN ! whoooossshhhh~! :D
Slept well last night. I've been fighting an, ohhh, about 5 yr battle with broken circadian rhythm from 5 yrs of shift work, so when I achieve my sleep goals it feels great !! Got to sleep before midnight (23:45), got my 7.5 hrs (7h 56m!), and had a good sleep (sleep score 87!).
Are we supposed to add our steps? My this week, so far (my daily goal is 10k steps/day):
- Sun - 8,949
- Mon - 12,514
- Tue - 13,762
- Wed - 14,624
- Thu - 13,678
Cheers, and have a lovely Friday, WaistAways !
