@mkksemail nice progress! It feels so good to become stronger!
@Gidgitgoescrzy I love all of your plants. They really make a space feel fresh and welcoming.
Yesterday started off fine and I had plans to make a stir-fry when I got home, but on the way home from the showing a couple family members wanted to stop to a buffet for dinner. Without thinking I agreed, I was very much in my emotions at that point, and then remembered I would have to log it all 🙃. For a buffet I don't think I did too bad, I had an appetizer, a cup of soup, 1 plate of main course options (mostly meat and veggies), and 3 small samples of dessert. It was nice to spend time with family to decompress from the day.

Happy Thursday, Waistaways!
Exercise plan for today - Planet Fitness, weight circuits & bike, at-home PT exercises, and (?) stretching vid? We'll see, on that 3rd one!
And speaking of stretch vids, here are 3 I did recently, Lauren, and 1 that I just wanted to try out, cuz it looked goofy, and I had my first experience with fasciitis pain (plantar), back in April :p.
1.) Stretch: 5 Minute Daily Stretching Routine For Women Over 50!
You don't have to be 50+ tho ;-)
2.) Stretch: Easy Standing Stretches for Stiff Muscles & Stress Relief
15-mins, I liked this one. And despite the opening video clip, there is NO floor work. I have bad knees, so this is important to me, I def prefer standing exercises.
3.) Stretch: 20 min Yoga Flow For Balance & Stability | Improve Balance and Focus
This one I really like, but maybe 'like' is a strong word :p. This one I find really helpful, b/c of my knees issue. She does do some floor work (just a little), but I modify to do them standing, or sub another standing pose if there isn't an easy mod.
4.) Goofy one! :p (Fascia Hopping) - The Most Powerful Over 50 Exercise You're Probably Not Doing
5.) Bonus 'stretch-adjacent' ;-) I Couldn’t Balance on One Leg… Until I Did This (Single Leg Romanian Dead Lift Hold)
Al/alatariel75, wow, your steps are impressive! especially since you said they are less than usual 😎
Kim/energyseeker, oi! on the middle of the night sick. poor thing — both of you!
Jackie/jguldi11, ahh, I like Yoga with Adrienne too! Good rec! 🧘♀️👍 Hugs on the funeral :(. Oh, and, ty! 🤗 on weights. I love the way you make good choices even when your plan gets skuttled, and you adjust on the fly. I feel proud for you! (I hope you feel proud of you, too!)
Jolene/maddawgmadsen, empathetic sympathy on the meniscus tear! One of my knees has one, too, and can't be repaired b/c of cartiledge loss due to arthritis. (nothing to stitch it to … awesome :/ ). Will yours heal? I've been given PT to do, to strengthen the muscles to reduce arthritis pain in the knee, but not really anything to address the pain from the meniscus tear. Did your ortho tell you yours would heal, or do you do anything to aid healing? It sounds like you're still able to use your knee fairly well! That's fantastic.
Vikki/gidgetgoescrzy, ty! and here's your kick 🦵😉😁😆. Cool plan, on the treadmill and tv show watching! Your office IS so cozy, love it! And love the green thumb you have going on too ! What a lovely space.
Okay, all caught up. Cheers! ~ mk :)

Boo! I brought this on myself and for no good reason. It is time to reign it back in again.
@mkksemail - The orthopedic doctor seems optimistic that my meniscus tear will heal on its own with time and PT. I'm sorry to hear about the condition of yours. That sounds painful to have the arthritis, too.
Vikki - I'm so jealous of your green thumb! It feels like I just kill plants. That might not be the most accurate, but I'm always surprised when any plant I nurture actually thrives.
A few months ago, I requested a raise. The primary basis for my request was that I get paid significantly less than the other officer of the company, and barely more than our middle management. Yes, the president of the company and I do different jobs, but the overall nature of our positions are the same - we are both responsible for keeping the company operational. In Colorado, we have an act called the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act that addresses this specific type of disparity. That being said, based on education, years of experience, and function of my job, my salary should be closer to his. I finally got a response from my bosses and it sounds like I will get a raise. I will also possibly get a promotion. The email was a little vague, but basically said if I can stay patient until they visit in July (they're primarily located in Germany), they have some plans for the future of the company that will allow me to make more money and give me more work that includes travel.
Those who have been part of this group with me for the last couple of years know how I've struggled to enjoy my job. I applied for other jobs, and even considered leaving my field entirely to tend bar full time. Through all of it, though, I never stopped advocating for myself. I am a naturally confident person, but I have never been more proud of myself. And, I'm very excited to hear what they have planned. The hardest part now is going to be waiting the five weeks until they are here.

@MaddawgMadsen wahoo! Great job advocating for yourself!
@Gidgitgoescrzy I love all the plants! It makes it look cozy.
@mkksemail great NSV with the weights! Thank you for those stretch videos, I am going to check them out.
Whew! Busy few days here, plus not sleeping at night (well fall asleep and then wake up and not fall back asleep). So last night I fell asleep at 7:45pm 😴 Tonight was a work dinner so will hopefully post the step results tomorrow 🚶🏼♀️
I went for a walk on lunch today because I knew I would not have time tonight.

Thanks, yeah I love the plants, it makes it feel so much less worky, and when I don't feel like working, I can always find something that needs to be done with the plants, apparently, it's very dusty in here, because they need to be dusted ALOT.
I feel good about yesterday, when I got home, I did some gardening, seems I have aphids, so I put neem oil on all my Zinnia, dahlias and peonies. They are starting to bloom so I will have some gorgeous flowers to share soon. It seems I have two rouge tomato plants also, so I let them go ahead and grow. I wish I had saved what kind of flowers I planted in the one bed because I can not remember what they are, but there are some gold ones that are just beautiful, the color is so pretty.
Anyway, then we went to costco and I made a point to walk up and down every single aisle after the 1st 2 my husband realized what I was doing and just waited at the main aisle with that look of " jeeze she is weird" lol. but I got like 6k steps for the day which is more than double what I normally get. I had one slice of pizza for dinner.
So over all I feel good about the day !

I got a nice walk in before the rain started this evening! Tomorrow is my running group and it's estimated 5.5 miles. Nothing like waking up bright and early to go walk/jog 😆😴
@fourathomej spending the summer by the lake sounds nice! Do you have any pictures?
@Gidgitgoescrzy productive day today!

@MaddawgMadsen oh that sounds exciting about the job, I hope the promotion opportunity and compensation meet your expectations! I know what it's like to be under-appreciated at work - it can be so defeating! Kudos to you for standing up for what you deserve.
Today was pretty good, didn't get much activity in but my calories were in range.
I noticed that our McDonalds has a new s'mores McFlurry out and I am a sucker for s'more flavored things. I talked with my husband about it and we both agreed we will try it once this summer, but it didn't have to be today. Somehow having that conversation with him helped me get over the craving.
I have a couple of social events planned for this weekend and of course food is involved with both. I have a feeling it's going to be tricky to stay within my goals but I have to figure it out if I want long term success. It's hard though, my family can be so enabling... we love food lol 😆

OH MY GOODNESS it's it's raining again! :p Happy Saturday, our 17th straight rainy Saturday in a row!
Slept bleh (6h 2m, sl sc 75). Scale up 1.2 lbs from yesterday. Knees are tired. Feeling bleh. Tentative plans when I went to sleep last night were for a bonus weight circuit training at Planet Fitness, standing PTEs there (I don't know why, but I like doing them there better, actually, I do know why, there are weight plates that I can use for my forward and lateral lunges that are a much less painful/more comfortable height than steps). Not sure if I'll follow through or take a rest day. We'll see :p.
Cheers! ~ mk :)

@jguldi11 omg I love smores flavored things too! I can't look and see if my local mcdonalds has that 🙈
Whew! It was humid today and I sweated a lot on my jog. Didn't do the best time wise, but that's ok. Now just to rehydrate all day!

@MaddawgMadsen you are an inspiration in the workplace!! Advocating for yourself is so hard for a lot of people (me!!), so glad it looks like it will pay off for you soon.
@mkksemail girl these new england weekends have been SUCH a bummer! Looks gross out today but I am heading to the river to kayak regardless!
Once I'm home, I have a chicken recipe to cook from my meal kit for a late lunch, and my last workout of week 4 of my challenge.

@mkksemail we have had a lot of rain recently too! Plus side is I don't have to water my plants as much. And it doesn't seem to rain all day. Is it raining all day there? It does make it gloomy though!
Today is a recovery day for me. I am going to try out some of those stretching videos, thanks MK! Plus I need to call my dad 😊

Ugh, I just need to vent a little. I know I've been half assing my health and eating, but I just realised, after looking at a medical note from the end of April, I'm still the same weight, give or take. That means that despite the crazy amount of steps I do, I'm eating enough that if I wasn't walking this much, I'd be gaining. Not good enough!!
I need to stop with the sneaky wines, stop telling myself I'm just retaining fluid, and get my chubby butt back in gear.
