@jguldi11 those kids are adorable and look like they are having fun! If I type out a long (ish) post, I usually hit save draft a few times. I've done what you did quite a few times!!

omgz, Jackie/jguldi11, the kidlets are so freaking adorable !!! Xx
PTEs routine on the agenda today. Yesterday's was down to 38 minutes, and Tuesday's to 39 minutes, from the more typical 45 mins plus! Those lateral and forward stepdowns, and Reverse Lunges aren't the complete terror they had been (tho I am totally using a walking stick to take some of the pressure off my knees on those moves, so there is that!). And PF for an indoor cicling ride. And a stop at the grocery store to pick up a grocery order for an infirm neighbor.
Rain today. The heatwave is going to hit us up here in Maine on Tuesday tho, so I guess I won't moan and groan about another rainy day :p. We had SEVENTEEN rainy Saturdays in a row! until yesterday - broke the streak. But Mother Nature is laughing and raining on Sunday this week ;-).
Cheers! ~ mk :)

I was a little annoyed to not hit my step goal on thursday and friday but the workouts I had were so hot and tough, plus kayaking, I decided to let it go.
I celebrated the FIRST SUNNY SATURDAY in ages like @mkksemail said, by sitting in the courtyard and tanning for like 2.5 hours haha. I got some more time out there today too - I really need to work on my base tan since my kayaking stint on Thursday led to some nasty tan lines (classic me, really).
Did some major cleaning around my apartment today - I should probably count some of those minutes as a workout honestly. It is so sparkly in here now, and I have guests coming on Friday so I should only have to vacuum again quickly before then.
Attempting a new breakfast biscuit recipe later tonight. I am absolutely not prepared for highs of 101 degrees F on Tuesday!!! Yikes.

Thank you so much for the encouragement and support, team, it really has meant a lot to me. I'm so up and down these days, and this really has been a comforting place to hide out, for all that I don't interact a huge amount.
I had a lovely weekend, it was 2 of my closest friends' 40ths and also solstice, so we went to a huge bonfire night at a brewery and had a great night. It was also hard though, because happy times are just tinged with sadness, too. I ate more than I should have, and didn't track, but I'm just concentrating on making good choices the majority of the time and this week I don't have too many social events. I plan to hit the gym or go for a run at lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and just keep getting my steps in otherwise. I have also booked a yoga class for tonight, I miss the stretch and the relaxation and mindlfulness.

Wahoo! Way to go team on coming in first this week! 🎉

@mkksemail has lost 15 pounds from her highest weight. 🥳
Great job everyone!

@lauren_989 I'm such a dope, I never noticed the Save Draft button before lol! Thanks for pointing that out to me!
@Alatariel75 I hope you enjoyed your yoga class, that sounds so lovely. I've done lots of online yoga classes but never one in-person. One day though I want to make that a priority.
@mkksemail I'm glad you finally had a dry Saturday! We're in the middle of the heat wave now in Michigan and it is HOT 🥵 Try to stay cool when it comes your way!

Wow team, great job coming in First this week! 🥳🏆
One of my sisters and BIL hosted a pool party and lunch at their house today, it was over 94°F today so we enjoyed lots of time cooling off in their pool. I ate a bit more than I have been lately, all that swimming really ramped up my appetite. I'm hoping I burned off enough calories to make up for it, according to MFP I'm still in a deficit.
My husband and I are heading to Tennessee tomorrow for a short trip, looking forward to seeing some new sights and getting time to relax!

Happy Monday !
Had a good weekend, no actual exercise but I earned a ton of activity minutes, on Saturday I painted, I HATE painting, I don't know why I volunteered, no I do, it's the one thing I can do to be helpful. but gosh do I dislike it, and it was a door with a grate thingy on it, so it was tedious and took 3 coats, but I must say it turned out really nice and I wish I woulda painted my door dark a long time ago.
On Saturday I made my 1st real meal in the kitchen, although it was a little nerve wracking because nothing is put away, so I had to search for things, like oven mitts, a flipper, the colander. Husband doesn't want me to start putting things away until after the electricians are done on friday, and there are no pulls, so its really hard to get into the drawers. Sunday, we went to the pool that was great, we didn't stay very long, only 2.5 hours, it was super hot. We like to go before it gets too crowded, and then leave when it's starts to get too peoply. I did walk 20 laps, so that counts for something. Then we went home and did clean up, and finished laundry. I didn't really food prep this week, but I will do that this evening. I am working only a 1/2 day, due to countertops going in this afternoon.

Hello Waistaways !! WOOHOOOOO 1st place !! Nice fist bump
haha, Kay/kali, I know you feel me on this dreary weekend weather! :p
Good Monday morning ! … wooot!, made it to my early appt! heh, yay me :D (not an early riser ! I got there at 7:12a, the lady at the xray desk had the door locked still, she said she doesn't know why they tell people to come at 7:15a for a 7:30a appt, bc nobody is there :p. She said I could have a wander in the sunshine, or come in and wait in the waiting room. I chose the wander, might as well get those steps in early, ya?
I 'had a wander' (heh, her phraseology, she was English) around the campus. Got an 0.48 mi, 14 min walk in. Checked in, got my x-ray, went down the hall, checked in early for my 8a ortho appt, had the visit with the MA, updated vitals, had the visit & right knee exam with the PA, got the left knee injection. He said to move the knee around to get the visco to spread, so after checking out, I 'had another wander' around the campus. Made it longer, to stretch to 30 mins, Fitbit clocked 1.52 mi, but 45 min bc I didn't shut off the watch until I was already in the car and driving home :p. The miles are right, it only got the walking miles, but the time isn't right. Best guess was ~ 33 min, give or take.
The right knee xray shows the arthritis in that knee has progressed to bone on bone. Awesome :/. STILL the left knee hurts more. The arthritis isn't as advanced there, but the meniscus tear makes it much more painful, and the swolls are bigger. At least they'll give me an injection in that knee too (the right one), next week, when I go for 2nd of 3 visco shots for the left knee. Have an in-office PT on Wed this week, too. I wonder if the exercises will stay the same playlist, or be changed/added to?
It's toasty today ! For here, I mean. It's currently 80F, feels like 84F, but that feels tropical after the spring we've had! lol Tomorrow is supposed to be above 90F, Then 80F, then 70F, then back to the 60sF by Fri, and 60s & raining again on Sat & Sun! 🙃

I wish we had a pool to go to! We have our heat advisory today and it was 98 when I left work, and it's still 90 at 8:15pm! 🥵
I went to the gym to exercise tonight since it was so hot outside. Got some steps and leg work in.

I meant to weigh in on Thursday and post before I left for the weekend, but alas, that - like many other things I meant to accomplish Thursday - did not happen. I spent the last weekend in Moab, Utah with a big group called Sisters on the Fly. We did a dinner cruise on Thursday, Friday I went hiking around Canyonlands with my sister, and Saturday we rafted the Colorado River. It was a lot of movement and surprisingly felt okay on my knee. However, it was HOT and very windy. Dry heat. Not like the heat the rest of you are getting.
I saw some of the pictures from the trip, and like what happened in 2023 when I joined this group, I realize I need to make some changes. Two years in and I still don't like my pictures. But, I'm also not really down any weight. But, one big change is that I can lift some weight now! Within the last couple of months I have hit 175# on my deadlift, 105# x 3 lifts for bench, and I can almost get my toes to the bar while hanging from the bar.
I decided when I got back from Moab to switch my diet up for a month or so to see if I can drop some weight. I'm doing a modified paleo meaning I will allow myself a couple of cheat days where I can enjoy our crew lunch this week and celebrate my birthday (July 4th … aka the Fourth of Jolene).
@Alatariel75 - I understand completely the grey and fog you mentioned. Like @Kali225 said, maybe it's just your body's way of asking for a reset. It is quite possible the only exercise you need to focus on for a little while is getting your puppy out for walks. She also mentioned FitOn. I used that during COVID. It really is a good app for helping with exercise when you don't feel like getting out of the house or hitting the gym. Lastly, you are not letting the team down. Please braindump whenever you need.
@Kali225 - great job on sticking to your insurance company and getting the money you deserve!
@mkksemail - The travel with this new position will likely be around the U.S. and Germany. Maybe other places. Hopefully everywhere! I love traveling, so honestly any chance to go anywhere sounds amazing.
@Gidgitgoescrzy - I LOVE the counters and backsplash! Your kitchen looks like it is turning out fantastic!

@MaddawgMadsen it looks like you had a great weekend! Those pictures are beautiful. I love the petroglyphs!
@Gidgitgoescrzy WOW! Those counter tops and backsplash are gorgeous! And I love the cabinets as well. It must feel great having your kitchen almost back together!
Busy day today. Worked this morning and then went with hubby to an appointment at Duke which is an hour away. Going for what feels like our 10th opinion. Then we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I am within my calories but towards the higher range and a lot of salt. I was hoping today would be a lower calorie day since we celebrated his birthday this weekend. Oh well.

omg @MaddawgMadsen awesome pics!!!! I'm the same way, I can even be feeling okay about myself in the mirror and then I see a picture of myself - esp in a group - and I'm like, oh god what is that angle?? where did THAT roll come from?? the inner critic is a tough one
@Gidgitgoescrzy wow, wow, wow - the counters are gorgeous!! can't wait to see more! are you fully back to cooking in a real kitchen?
@mkksemail ugh so sorry to hear about your knee troubles. hopefully the shots help?? You've given me a good reminder to do my PT movements now before I hop in the shower
@jguldi11 have fun in TN!! What part of the state are you going to?
Oppressively hot today. I wore a new favorite dress of mine to work at least. And I got my steps in via dance cardio. I had a ton of protein today but I feel like it was also a lot of food. Feel like I need to start balancing protein vs calories or volume - or I will probably just stay at this weight which is not what I want.

Heat index 107F today 🥵 (97F actual) ... wth!? Where's my 60s and raining!? 🤣

@MaddawgMadsen omg that looks amazing!! I'm so envious!! I'd love to do a trip like that.
Thank you everyone for the encouragement and support.

Woo, finally seeing it go down!!
Boo, I have a cold. I actually stayed in bed til 11 today, but the real miracle was the puppy let me and seemed to enjoy having big snuggles. He's grown up a lot!
Of course, this means exercise is out the window, blah, right after I had a great training run for my trail run - of course! But I'm pampering myself to recover as soon as possible, thank goodness I'd prepped a bunch of meals.

@MaddawgMadsen Love those pics ! Such a magnificent place.
@kali225 Yes I am back in my kitchen for the most part, nothing is in the upper cabinets yet, and what I have put in the bottom drawers is a pain because there are no pulls on anything. Electricians come friday to do undercabinet outlets and lights, so after they are done, I will start putting things where they belong, and hubby will put pulls on everything.

NSV - I actually made it to spin class today! First time in months. Literally months. I was advised by my doctor and my PT that spin class would be good for my knee as long as I take it easy (minimal resistance, no climbing, etc.). I just haven't been able to get my tired butt out of bed lately. Today will be a two pots of coffee kind of day, but it's so worth it.
Oh! And, my sister had such a great time with Sisters on the Fly (SOTF) that she joined the group, made sure we both signed up for the Bryce Canyon event happening in September, and then found us a pop-up trailer to buy. So, as of 18:00 yesterday, I am the proud co-owner of a 2012 Rockwood Forest River 1950 pop-up trailer. As a note if I didn't mention it before, SOTF is the group we joined for the rafting trip.

@MaddawgMadsen What amazing beauty! Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing. Seeing the petroglyphs is super cool.
And I also don’t even recognize myself in photos. It looks like my mom more and more. She was a beautiful person but pretty obese and died young. (69) Can’t let that happen to me.@Gidgitgoescrzy Gorgeous! - the counters are beautiful!! Love the cabinets too. That’s my style. Can't wait to see more! Happy cooking!!
@mkksemail I’m so impressed with all your “wandering” even with bad knees. You are proof that my sore hip should not stop me from walking. I am supposed to go to PT for help.
@jguldi11 Have fun in TN!!
@lauren_989 It’s been so crazy hot here too. I keep using any excuse I can not to exercise.
This week we found out my husband’s A1c is now 6.6 and over the threshold for diabetes. So we are busy trying to figure that all out. I think I will also benefit from our improved eating and exercise attempt. We shall see.5 -

I don't think I've ever had an even number like that, hmmm I was hoping it was lower, but it is lower and that's all that really matters. I feel a fresh start coming on, I've discovered having a usable kitchen is really important to stay on track, so I feel like I can kick some butt now.

Hi everyone, I'm back from Tennessee! It was a fun experience, we stayed in The Peabody which is kind of like a museum in itself! We also went to Graceland and learned all about Elvis, and we walked around town a bit too. While my husband was at his work meeting I rested and read a good book. It was glorious to have a few hours of alone time!
For being on vacation I think I did okay making decent food choices, though we had to try some fried catfish and bread pudding, oh my goodness was it delicious! I made sure to keep those portions small haha. I do feel a bit bloated from it all so I'll be drinking lots of water and watching my sodium for the next few days. I did my best to log everything, it keeps me accountable even when I don't want to haha.
Unfortunately I have a double ear infection which is rather uncomfortable, thankfully the antibiotic ear drops are stsrting to kick in.
••••••••••••
@Gidgitgoescrzy I bet all that painting burned off a decent amount of calories! My bathroom is being renovated and I'll be responsible for painting when it's done. I'm really not looking forward to it either, but it looks so nice after. I love your counter top and backsplash!
@lauren_989 great job making use of the gym to escape the heat!
@mkksemail oof bone on bone and a meniscus tear sound horrible! It is so impressive that you stay active with all that going on!
@babyw8gone try not to beat yourself up, we all struggle at times. It's great that you keep showing up!
@MaddawgMadsen I'm glad you had a great trip, it sounds like it was well deserved. Those pictures are beautiful! Also great job on your weightlifting! How did you learn to have proper form with deadlifting? A friend tried to teach me but I just could not figure it out so I paused that goal to avoid hurting myself.
@Alatariel75 oh no dealing with a cold is no fun! I hope you feel better soon, all the rest and puppy snuggles should help.
@Kali225 we visited Memphis, it was a great experience! It can be a challenge to balance macros, especially getting enough protein without adding a ton of calories.
@micki48 I'm sorry to hear your husband is in the diabetes range, it is a lot to figure out. My husband was diagnosed about 2 years ago with T2D and I've had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies so I know what you mean by having to figure it all out, it's quite the adjustment. A great motivator though! I found the book Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe really informative for some tips to help regulate blood sugar.
