Good morning!
Bill, it is good to hear you talking about getting good physical activity. I am very happy for you.
I hurt my already sore shoulder significantly yesterday. Last evening I was going into my little hobby greenhouse to water the six plants that I have out there. I have kept the plants alive through all of the heat, which is the experiment I was going for. I have a shade drop cloth over the racks that the plants are on. I went to lift the shade cloth and a 3-4' black snake brushed up against my arm. I threw down the shade cloth and struggled to exit the little door quickly. I bumped into my fan, and a wall. I don't know what jerking motion I made, but I certainly did something very bad to my right shoulder/neck/trap area. Sigh…. Connie growls at me when I say that I am going to look on apartments.com, yet she is never out in our yard.
I am getting frustrated with trying to come up with things that she can eat. We only seem to have about the same two items for lunch, and rotate about four items for dinner. I've tried several recipes, but they all seem to be either way to bland, or they use spices that my picky CKD/diabetic wife does not care for. For example, I have a great meatloaf that I can cook, but she does not like "naked meat" without a bun or something.
Have a great day!

Good morning gentlemen.
Enjoyed shooting with DS, yesterday, though a bit dismayed by how I shot. I used to be pretty good, but am not as steady at 75 as I was 40 years ago. I also had an unfortunate experience firing their 30-06 rifle. I spent my career firing M-16s, which have no recoil. The 30-06 has a pretty good kick. I also have no experience using a telescopic sight. Combine those two blanks in my experience and I ended up with the sight slamming into my safety glasses - hard - on the one shot I took. The bridge of my nose is still sore this morning. On the positive side, my shot was on target.
Watching the British Open this morning, then have to seriously start getting ready for this week's camping trip. We have a site reserved Monday - Friday. I need to split firewood and plan some meals.

Mornin' gents.
Glad it was just a black snake and not venomous. We old farts should not move so suddenly or quickly.
I remember going to the range with my boys to sight in their .308s before deer season about 15 yrs ago and the two stations to our left were occupied by two young fellas that had just purchased twin .270s with scopes, right out of the box. Both fellas scoped themselves on the first shot. One suffered just a black eye while the other needed stitches in his eyebrow. The .270 Winchester is a long action cartridge with very similar recoil to the good old 30-06. I guess the M1 Garand chambered in 30-06 last saw military action in Korea, it had less recoil because it was a gas operated semi-auto. Bolt action recoil is much worse. The .270 is basically a necked down version of the 06 cartridge. Often, folks that shoot those long action rifles will put a piece of tape on the stock to mark the spot that the front of their cheek should lay on to avoid getting scoped. Glad you didn't get a black eye and just a sore nose, Dave. You must have been just a little too close, sorry about that. You should have been warned. Good job hitting the target.
Just finished eating 4 poached eggs on a toasted low cal high fiber pita slathered with avocado mash after a good combination stationary bike and dumb bell work out. So much to do to prepare for my trip to Florida on Thursday to visit my sisters and then fly out to Colorado for DS#1 and DGK's birthdays. I'll be gone a total of 10 days.
Bill, it is great to hear that you are gradually being able to ramp up your activity.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good Morning
Steve, I hope you can get that shoulder looked at sooner rather than later. Kansas continues to sound like a delightful place.
Beautiful day yesterday, we hit the beach. She walked, I sat and read which is the new reality for a while longer. We headed to the local nursery to begin getting ready to do some planting now that we have an idea of what we want to do. We are focusing on our little sitting area and filling in one area of our back yard. Everything is sitting in the shade of our very large pine until we are ready to plant sometime this week. We got a couple things to transplant as well. Gray cloudy day today. I didn't sleep well and have been a bit rundown of late so I will likely take it easy and do small projects.

Been kinda tired and busy lately but ok. Hop Mike can keep his BP under better control whilst stressed.
Sometimes mine is up a bit when I see my oncologist.
Yikes Steve black Snake and all could make me jump a bit too. good luck w the shoulder.
Ouch Dave yeah gotta watch the recoil. I remember my friend wanting to shoot by big big friends 10 gauge shot gun. Uh didn't hold it tight enough and suffered a bit in his shoulder for sure.
Been ages since I hunted pheasant but certainly not with a 10 gauge.
Carry-on guys!!

Did another hike this morning. Yesterday's was great in the cooler weather, and I checked my BP afterwards—113/55, which is great. Today I got a later start, drove farther, and it warmed up a lot quicker, so I got only partway in and took a level side-trail instead of. continuing to climb, to avoid overheating. Still, it was a nice outing, about 1-1/2 miles with a moderate hill. I think I'll get ready ahead of time tonight for a hike tomorrow, so I can just get up and go early so it's cool.
Steve, your life is starting to sound like a Steven King novel. Seriously though, I hope the shoulder heals up quick. Hang in there with Connie's diet stuff. It's a learning curve and things will eventually get better. Are there support groups for these kinds of diets? It must be difficult.
Dave, sorry to hear about the kick-back in the nose. Have fun on your camping trip.
Bill, your difficult journey through so many things, and coming through it in good shape eventually, is inspiring to me. Glad you're getting to do stuff you (and DW) like. You must be a nice couple to know.
Lee, safe trip to FL and Colo.
