This week's challenge is a partner walking challenge and it begins tomorrow July 27th.

  • Find yourself a partner and register in this chat thread, today if possible, then make a plan with your partner and get ready to walk.
  • Once you have your partner, pick a name for your team and I will post as part of the tally sheet.
  • Post your individual steps and I will keep a tally in a spreadsheet and post the totals every other day in this thread.
  • DO NOT POST AS A TEAM and no need to total for me…that's why spreadsheets have formulas! 😊

No extensive rules on this one…use your ACTUAL step count and you can walk indoors, outdoors, in a mall, on a treadmill, at the gym…you get the idea…just walk and post your totals. At the end of the week, we will vote to decide whether to do a week 2. Each year we've done this, we usually have a second week.

Winning team will win a prize and I will get your email address for that later. Have a great and active week! Good luck!

    Does the team with the most steps win, or is it based on days of meeting our individual step goals?

    I dug my Fitbit out of the box it's been hiding in for the last 3+ years so I could give this challenge a go 😅 I have no idea what my average daily step count has been, it used to be about 5000 steps per day but that was before having kids.

    With that being said, would anyone like to be my partner?

    I keep a tally of each team's "most steps" and add them together in a spreadsheet using a formula. See screenshot below. So, it's based on most steps recorded each day for the whole 7 days. We've been doing this once/twice a year for several years and it's ALWAYS a hit…SO motivating to have a partner and others to bring out our competitive spirit!! Good luck!! And if you can't find a partner in here…make a post in your team's July chat thread…

    And I'll share the humorous name of local running club:
    Dusty Bottoms
    There's another running club that call themselves the Steeple Chasers

    If someone is still looking for a partner, I will team up with you. I just set up my phone to count steps since I don't have a smartwatch. Now I can participate in step counting moving forward. 😊
