Working on consistency, trying to figure out if I want to continue lifting 3x week ( 1 hour full body), OR go back to a 4x split of 2 upper body and 2 lower body (30 minutes each).

    • lost weight slowly on the 4x split
    • tried various programs in 6 months- Fitness Blender YT, Lift with Cee YT, SoheeFit E.L.T. book
    • feels like I have more energy left
    • but muscle gain was slow

    • gained weight on the 3x full body
    • first month with Hailey Happens Fitness Learn to Lift
    • upper body looking more toned
    • but I feel exhausted often

I am still a beginner using dumbells 2-20 lb. I also walk/jog (30 min) most days.

    I'm in a whole new world……..

    Without typing a book….

Sciatica hell for the last 8 weeks. Had my Nerve block yesterday. I had an MRI 2 weeks ago. Buldging dislk. I haven't been able to sit on my rear end for 8 weeks. not been able to drive. Walks are 10mins and at a 3.0 or slower pace.

but, from where I was in april, I am down from 112 to 107 - likely some lower body muscle loss - but I had been doing Slim in 6 workouts - high rep light weight. That's on pause now for the week as I focus on the Nerve block recovering.

Nutrition focused to get nutrients in to heal my body.

    • - - -
    • and that's just me……

my mom is doing well,, she relies on my brother to take her to her appts. in the city.

Last week my brother was dignosed with Colon cancer. 9 polyps to come back today. and they see a spot on his liver. Today we will hear what the next thing is….. he is about 61 I think born in 1964

and remember I can't sit. so I have NOT been able to even think of a 13hr car ride OR a 4 hour flight.

SO. what have I been doing

Watching a series on Healing from Wommack. on you tube. Praying that God uses His hands on the doctors hands and heals me. Gives me the blessing of healing for my back/sciatica.

That's very actio n pcked post

@CeeBeeSlim how are you? Thanks for tagging me. I maybe would not have come back.

@SherryRueter Wow! It makes sense why you needed a break! Sorry to hear about your back pain and your brother. Glad to hear your mom is doing well and I’ll send up a 🙏🏽 for you all. I’ve been away for a while as well - dealing with a new issue - my dad’s declining cognitive issues so caregiving x2 for me! As the young(er) folks say “Life is life-ing”!

Reached an ultimate goal weight of 115, back to 119 - but I know that is recent stress eating. Too tired to care that much anymore. What made you come back?! I felt if I didn’t have some accountability, I’d gain. Hoping you have a quick and full recovery and healing soon - for you and your family.

@ceebeeslim I came back so that I had a place to rant and share about the pain of this whole ordeal. Kinda like you, I don't have nearby people to just talk to… aka friends in real life. and this whole sciatica pain injury has me home bound. Which maybe is okay in some regards, I cannot just binge eat chips and candy. I just finished baking 12 cookies / homemade ish . Its easier to buy oreos, but its easier to eat a whole sleeve of oreos. ITs harder to make 12 cookies, its easier to stop at 1.

Also - just to write about life , feelings, , God. Sure has been hard. Still trying to find ways to bring romance in, but when I am in pain….. just laying down. Now that I have a nerve block, I am hoping to be able to at least sit by hubby and snuggle.

2 walks done so far today. 10-12 mins each. Stood up 3x for 30mins. Laying on stomach now , 3rd time this mornining. Goal is to sit up 90/90 for lunch and supper ….. allowed 10-15mins for that task.

working on bracking my core. drinking liquids (water, crystal light and diet soda). Protein. and nutritient timed /dense foods all in the name of healing.

I hear ya! Retail therapy. I’ve been out of my home for months and will be for more months as my home is being renovated. So I’m decorating from afar and I’m sure making the hubs anxious - because my downfall is furniture!

I use to think day by day but it really is minute to minute!

@ceebeeslim how exciting for you! you are still doing eldercare i presume for your parents though, right?

I was lucky(or not lucky) we finished our remodel this past summer when a pipe was leaking /(aka had to). the house looks nice and mostly have new furniture as well. That's a lot of fun, and a little stressful. I always waiver on … this or that…. and making up my mind is hard.

Today so far: 1030am. woke up 4a took 2 pills. slept 30mins, woke up again, this time calf is on fire, so took tylenol. Starting to doubt the whole "this is healing" premise - but really trying to put it into Gods hands and really TRYING to say "god is healing me". having faith. yet wanting faith.

my back pain comes and goes today. My mood seems a little depresssed. I notice I am crying easier today. I suppose the pain wears me down and, lets face it, I used to be so active - that doing such minimal movement is hard as well. I decided to shower and get cleaned up today. make up, a cute-ish but comfy outfit. Hair done too. It helps a little, I know it does.

I am so thankful for my workload being light at work.
I am thankful for the sunshine
For this particular message board. (almost tearing up. gosh… )
My leg isn't in pain right now. I was noticing that it is localized a lot to my mid back. That is a good sign of healing. I hope it can stay there.

Yep! Eldercare for both parents. It’s harder with my dad - he wants to believe all is well so will blame, deflect, onto others - “I never said that”, “you did it”, “you heard wrong” etc. I’ve been praying for strength, compassion and grace as I know it all comes from fear.

So sorry to hear about the pain. It’s physical and mental as we know. We can feel so powerless. But we - women of faith - know better. No doubt healing and recovery coming your way!

    🙏🏽

@CeeBeeSlim prayers for you …. Yes … elder care is SO hard. God appointed you for this role. Keep that in mind.

Pain is a lot less today. I feel what I think is normal. Weighed in - no change 107.2. Praise the lord!!!

Yesterday I did a whole mile walk (first time in a long long time, most of my walks are .4 miles) . It went well.

This morning while browsing Facebook, I found a link to some PT exercises which reminded me, of the PT exercises I am supposed to be doing. So I made a workout sheet and I did my PT exercises and it felt so good just to be moving again and not laying on the couch.

I’m in Memphis Tennessee today. It’s supposed to be a high of 50, I don’t really watch football, hoping to go to the mall and get in a little bit of walking there and maybe I’ll get to sit down for a meal again, if I haven’t mentioned it, I haven’t been able to sit for like nine weeks. Last night I sat for 15 minutes to eat supper. I hope I get to do that again today.

    Have a blessed Sunday Ceeebee

Thanks for the kind words and prayers, @SherryRueter. I hope the Lord has a sense of humor. I joke sometimes when I get to heaven I hope He has the equivalent of heavenly office hours where we get some time to ask some questions - all beginning with “Why”. Thank you for saying I was appointed to this role. It makes me feel so much better.

I’m not sure if this is a generational thing but I’ve heard that ChatGPT can be helpful in developing any exercise or rehab routine. My niece is supposed to show me later.

So glad you were able to sit. I hadn’t known you couldn’t. Glad you could walk. Day by day - the healing will come!

@ceebeeslim - I find it crazy what God appoints us to do. Example. I'm the "oops" child - and only girl. two older brothers. And, at this point in life - my Mom has put me as the primary executor of her estate. The primary medical for her and the power of attorney. The little girl who always looked up to her older brothers for wisdom and what not - now has her older brothers looking up to her.

I just finished a doctor visit with my mom (via phone call). Everything seems to be doing okay with her. (Praises and Thanks to the Lord!)

It's been fun talking to you. I do look forward to it.

Today is going well. Yesterday & today I have woke up feeling normal. Today I am working on standing for 20 mins at a time. AND I did a 15min workout plus my PT moves. (45 min total).

Today is cool outside - maybe 40 degrees and a 12 Mph wind. from the north.

    This weeks daily Goals:
    _Bone Broth daily
-Collagen + vit c (Combo helps absorption)
-Hit protein target of 80-100g (no need to go over)
-Hit calcium target (1000-1300) - Dairy for now.
    -No bending or twisting.

Wonderful news about your mom. Cool here in NC too. My dad did much better in his cognitive test so the dementia meds seem to be working. At least he hasn’t gotten worse. Interesting questions why stumled him. He finally answered but spelling “world” backwards seemed completely forget ro him.
3 pounds away from my goal weight and not eating my downfall - processed sweets. I’m determined to do my best to be close to my best self by the end of year - so I don’t have the stress of New Year’s resolutions - just maintaining success. 🙏🏽

Do your brothers help? Four here. No help. No offer to help. I give them grace. It would be hard(er) for them - and I am blessed and privileged to do it.

My brothers . I have 2. Brother #1 is married, no children and about 59yr old. He lives about 1hour south of mom. Brother #2, 61yrs and now widowed for the past 1.5yrs (he has just received a cancer diagnosis) lives 10mins away. Brother#2 stops in to her house about daily, and calls/texts her a lot. With his recent cancer diagnosis, I am not sure how this is all going to play out. Neither of them have children. I am the Power of attourney for health as well as the estate. Brother #2 is the secondary listed on everything. Being 13 hours south of there…. makes me rethink why I live so far away…. as that is a challenge at times. THankfully technology helps. I use MarcoPolo, an APP that you send video messages back and forth on. Its just like texting, but a video.

Accomplishments: I slept all night last night! 11p - 5am. And woke up without pain. This is a huge step forward in my sciatica healing. Right now I am trying my 10mins of sitting in an office chair, using my back brace (has metal supports in it). The right leg is a little tingly…. so, hmmm….. wasn't expecting that. I will do a workout later this morning or early afternoon - likely 15mins plus my PT moves. Tomorrow I see PT and am excited for that.

Later this week we will be back in the lower 70's. Today I think we are still around 55 degrees. Talk to ya later,Sherry

Weekend went okay. Moving average doing down despite the disappointing ups and downs. I get it - just frustrating! I forget that you post on this thread, @SherryRueter. Feel free to join me and @justgirl81 - on the winter thread! How are you?
