@micki48 wow that's a super impressive streak! Go you ๐Ÿ‘

@Gidgitgoescrzy great job meeting your step goal and fasting goal! I'm curious to know how your appt with the functional medicine doctor went, I've always wanted to see one but the closest one to where I live is over 2 hours away.

    @LisaMoxon155 congrats on the promotion!

Sending hugs out to everyone having a bit of a tough time right now. For those of us in the northern hemisphere, this time of year is notorious in the therapy world for an increase in depressive type symptoms, even in people who don't typically experience them. The cold, dark days tend to be gloomy and make us want to hibernate more, there's more illness going around, and for a lot of people the holidays are stressful. So, if you're having a tough time right now just know you're not alone, and remember this too shall pass!

Fortunately my cold resolved relatively quickly. I went out with a couple of friends today to Frankenmuth, it's a local tourist town with lots of shopping and food options. We went to a wine tasting (it's a once a year tradition for us) and then started some Christmas shopping. I can't believe we're already getting to that time of year. We also went to dinner at a Korean bbq/hot pot restaurant, it was my first experience at a restaurant like that, it was really interesting and there were lots of vegetables and lean protein to choose from. Usually when I go on this shopping trip I buy a bunch of snacky things but this year I didn't buy any. It felt kind of weird not buying all the usual stuff, but in a good way. I also got lots of steps in today.

I need to try to get some sleep now. I'll be back tomorrow for my weigh in ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜…

    Happy November! :p

I lost track of myself, I apologize. I was seriously out of sorts for a few weeks. I think I needed a MFP challenge break, maybe. I'm heading to NY again. My father's sister passed over the weekend, going to the funeral. I'm going to try to get back in my groove next week. May I rejoin as a full member next month? And perhaps as the support team this month? Xx ~ mk :)

@mkksemail yes, and feel free to post anytime this month! I'm sorry to hear about your aunt!

@jguldi11 I'm glad you are feeling better. I'm buying sun lamp and will see if this helps. More for my hubby with SAD, but will see what it does for me too!

Had leftover mexican food tonight, but went to the gym earlier. So hopefully won't retain too much for weigh in tomorrow!

@mkksemail it's nice to hear from you! I'm so sorry about your aunt, my condolences to you and your family.

@lauren_989 the sun lamp is a great idea! I have one in my office and it does seem to make a difference, I've even had clients comment that they feel more energized after sitting near it. Taking vitamin d3 is usually a good idea too! Of course you should check with your primary care provider first ๐Ÿ˜‰

@YinxFed have a nice time in Rotterdam ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yesterday went well, I got my steps in and I made a new recipe for dinner that included spaghetti squash, chicken, and other vegetables. I've never tried spaghetti squash before but I really liked it, and my husband and daughter both enjoyed it too which is practically a miracle lol. I'm excited to add that to our dinner menu more often.

Well yesterday I coulda swore I made a post and posted it, but apparently, I did not.

Anyway, Functional Dr went well, although there isn't much she thinks she can do for me, she suggested some supplements, but I am already taking all but 1 of them. My pain is nerve pain, and once your nerves are being squished there isn't much to be done, but unsquish them, and I am not ready for that yet. She did suggest I look into nerve flossing, so I will do that. She is really expensive for regular visits, so I don't think I will continue, since she wasn't able to give me much for the main reason I went for.

Weekend was good, I smoked my last cigarette on Sunday. I feel really good about that.

I've gotten 5k steps every day last week, except on Friday and Sunday, I did 10k - Friday was easy, we did a lot of errands out. Sunday was football day, so it was tough, I did 45 min on the treadmill in the morning, then another 30 minutes after football. I think I went to bed with 10,005 lol. I am concentrating on that right now, it gives me something to think about all the time. So my goals for this week are

Everyday will be flossing, neck exercises and balance exercises

    5k steps per day

10k Steps on Saturday and Sunday

Sun, Tues, Thurs & Sat will be strength training

Weds and Friday will be yoga or something similar

Food was terrible yesterday, just terrible and I don't even have an excuse as to why.

Today will be a good day ! I hope yours is too !

Chuffed. My daughter came back from overseas for the weekend so we celebrated her 30th birthday, joined by my son and his girlfriend. Waaayyyy to much food and drink, not enough exercise.

Congrats on the last cigarette @Gidgitgoescrazy

Very tired after the weekend and snacked on Monday. Stuck a 5 mile walk in at the end of the day to make up for it.

I'm positive we can have a good week ๐Ÿ˜€

@TheMrWobbly I'm glad you got to visit with your daughter! And nice loss even with celebrating!

@Gidgitgoescrzy yes!!! Great job smoking your last cigarette! I'm going to have to look uo nerve flossing.

@jguldi11 I have always wanted to try spaghetti squash. Just have to get up the nerve to buy it and cook it ๐Ÿ˜‚

I had a good day today. I ate light, but feel like it was because I had a big dinner last night. Had a routine dentist cleaning today (I HATE the dentist) and then went to board game night. Lots of fun!

Well yesterday was a bad day food wise, lordy who knew I could eat so much!

Today I am fasting all day, I am shooting for a reset, I know my brain is telling me, you quit smoking, and you're exercising regularly, it's okay to eat anything you want. So that is fine, I caved for the 2 days, but I am done that now, I am not going to do that anymore.

Well Boo ! I think I might take the rest of the month off, as I don't think I am going to contribute with any losses. I am not sure if it is the additional exercise, or the extra snacking to make up for not smoking. Either way, I am still going to weigh in, but if you want to put me on the sidelines for the rest of the month, I am fine with that. I don't want to bring you guys down.

Apparently, I have made it through the hardest days of not smoking, which is the 1st 3 - but I am more worried about the weekend. When I was a smoker, during the work week, I only smoked 1 cig when I got home from work, and then maybe 1 after dinner. Weekends I smoked more, but I have ideas for this weekend. I am going to start on the project of cleaning out my attic. I have 3 little posable Christmas elves that I haven't seen in a few years, so I am forming a rescue mission. I am also going to try to re-home the stuff in my corner cabinet in the dining room, so I can get rid of it, and put my Christmas tree there, otherwise I have to get a little tree, and I don't want a little tree. My house is too small when it comes to Christmas decor. lol

Yesterday was easy, I fasted all day. I did not meet my step goal though, I took the day off.. I also learned that if I ever go missing, no one should count on my dogs to find me. We played hide and seek, and yeesh, they suck at seeking. So, although I kept myself busy and didn't sit around, without that focused effort it is hard to get 5k steps for me.

I am going to have a really good day today, I hope you do too !

@Gidgitgoescrzy great job quitting smoking! That is a huge achievement. I like your plan to stay busy over the weekend, and the elves rescue mission had me laughing ๐Ÿ˜†

You didn't ask for advice so feel free to ignore my unsolicited tidbits, but if you are interested - some things I've seen clients do when they quit smoking is to chew gum or have hard candies/mints available, or even suck air through a straw when the cravings are strong. Deep breathing or breathing exercises can also help, one reason smoking provides a relaxing feeling is the deep breathing that occurs with each inhale. The 4-7-8 breathing technique is my favorite but there are lots out there - YouTube has tons of videos on breathing techniques. And an increase in snacking is very normal, it's the hand to mouth habit. If the other strategies don't help, drinking water or hot tea, or snacking on veggies or plain popcorn may help. Green tea and cinnamon tea are both appetite suppressants.

    You got this!

I hit a pretty bad low mental health wise mid week but I've been feeling a bit better the last few days. I need to find a way to make changes in my life that support my physical well being. The mental stuff I struggle with seems to outweigh all other things. I'm lucky I have a very patient and loving husband but my depression can be a really bad energy suck for him and I owe it to both of us to try to figure this out.

@Gidgitgoescrzy amazing job being smoke free for those days so far, keep it going girl
