I wanted to share this after recently talking to my sister............
Let me tell you guys something............My sister is kind of PAF with raising her kids and doesn't even know she is raising them this way.
My sister actually feeds her family pretty Paleo and she merely calls it clean, whole foods eating (which is cool either way)
She has breastfed, make home made baby food from whole foods and she is very diligent about what she feeds her boys...........the kids don't like cookies or cake unless it is a treat that is home made from scratch and they don't eat fast food.
My nephew Thomas is 6 and just started Kindergarten this year. They are not "allowed" to bring home lunches until the 2nd or 3rd grade because of the possibility of food allergies.
Anyway this was the conversation between Thomas and the Lunch Lady at school the other day:
Thomas: I don't want any carrots
Lunch Lady: Why not, they are good for you.
Thomas: They are boiled and I don't like boiled carrots
Lunch Lady: What makes you think they are boiled Thomas?
Thomas: Did they come from a can?
Lunch Lady: Why yes they did.
Thomas: If they come from a can, they are boiled and I don't want them.
Lunch Lady: Well Thomas, how do you like your carrots then?
Thomas: Well I like them out of the crockpot, that is how my mom makes them.
Then my sister proceeds to tell me that the lunch lady told my sister that she spoils her kids too much..............
That pissed me off because the lunch lady said that my sister spoils her kids by feeding them all that home made from scratch stuff.......... GRRRRRRRRR

LOL, it's kinda funny though. And, if you think about it, he is spoiled (compared to other kids). A lot of parents work and don't have time to cook.
What does PAF mean?0 -
I think its awesome. I know my kids 12 and 15 would rather have a home cooked meal than go out any day. Its whats good..and tastes awesome.
I just started Paleo..but there are some things that we were doing Paleo anyway..such as all of my curries (I am Eat Indian) and the meats that I throw into the crock pot or just put into the oven.
My youngest will not eat red sauce unless its out of our kitchen..since I make it from scratch..she says its gross and too sweet..we like ours spicy..0 -

I copied and pasted my conversation from Facebook in the IPMG group and PAF = Paleo as *kitten*. LOL
My sister and her husband both work and they make time to cook..............I think the whole No time to cook is an excuse to be lazy...........
Most people that say they don't have time to cook have time to sit their azz in front of the TV for hours in the evening watching those dang reality shows..........
Sorry that is a pet peeve of mine to the nth degree.0 -

My husband and I both work FT and there is no way I'd feed my kids carrots from a can. Not when you can buy the already peeled baby carrots and throw them in a steamer for 10 min.
I breastfed both my boys until well past their 1st birthday and either made or bought organic baby food (did you know that heintz strawberry baby food has sugar and corn syrup in it WTF?!?). When the plates are put in front of our kids the veggies are usually the first to go. I think teaching kids how to eat right is not spoiling them it is preparing them for a life where they are not fighting weight gain like we all are. Kids need to know the value of healthy food. Working FT has nothing to do with it.0 -

I make my step daughter good healthy lunches from scratch.
I actually had her teacher complain about the hard boiled egg, that she didn't like the smell.
The girl didn't want them anymore in her lunch, and she LOVES eggs. She was made to feel terrible.0
